Chapter 8 - Chapter Six

'Fuck, where is that stupid kid? I can't see shit." Anor walks forwards, leaves crunching below his feet when suddenly he feels a squelch, likely a swamp. As he goes further, the swamp gets deeper.

After a few minutes, he's in past his knees when he hears movement around him. His legs are stuck, and the water bears high resistance, most likely mud.

"CC, IS THAT YOU?" Anor shouts, waiting on a reply, when a familiar voice shouts out back.

"YEAH, IT'S ME."

Anor begins to walk toward the voice when he sees CC's figure in the fog, falling deeper into the swamps embrace. He approaches CC fast, just by him now. Too late, he notices centipedes crawling on the silhouette's flesh. Suddenly, "CC's" face opens, up revealing a large mouth of teeth roasting around like a sawblade.

"Hello there, Anor."

Anor's reflexes kick in, and he tries to dodge backwards, but the heavy resistance of the swamp holds him almost fully still.

"WHAT DID YOU DO WITH CC?" Anor's expression darkens and he quickly gets visibly enraged by the sight of the monster.

"Who's CC?" The monster creeps closer to Anor. However, Anor quickly senses the danger and lands a strong punch on the monsters chest.

The creature falls back and begins to fall apart. Anor's face is filled with relief but as soon as it starts looking up for him he hears, "You punch like a child."

The creature takes a new form, it's flesh torn and twisted and its head bearing a crown which resembles two intertwined black centipedes.

"What are you?" Anor asks, his knuckles still red from the punch. He pants frequently, obviously out of breath.

"We are a mimic," The creature replies, its voice croaky and distorted, as if its vocal cords were falling apart.

As the creature senses Anor's concern, it extends two tentacles from below the swamp water to entangle Anor's legs. As this happens, Anor smirks and looks up at the mimic, grinning, "You familiar with calamity magic?"

As Anor says this, his veins pop a bright orange, and his eyes also change to the same colour.
