Snow turned red as first ice spiders hit ground. Link swung his glowing blade in a wide arc. Heat from sword hissed against frozen carapaces of monsters.
[Status Alert: Combat Proficiency Increasing]
[Health 83 percent]
[Stamina 55 percent]
"Keep formation!" Ned Stark shouted. He swung Ice with two hands. Valyrian steel sheared through frozen legs like they were dry twigs. "Do not let them spook horses!"
One spider leaped at Robert. King caught it in mid air with his bare hand and crushed its head against his knee. He laughed while wiping ichor from his furs.
"Is this all Great Other has to send?" Robert yelled. "I have killed bigger crabs on fingers of Flint!"
"There are more coming," Link warned. He looked at System map. Red dots were appearing in clusters above them. "They are herding us. They want us to move toward ravine."
Jaime Lannister fought with a torch in one hand and a dagger in other. He was a blur of motion. "Link is right. They are not attacking to kill. They are attacking to push."
[Tactical Analysis: Enemy intent identified as herding]
[Danger Level: Rising]
Link saw a massive web of pale silk stretched between two weirwood trees ahead. It was thick as ship rope and pulsed with faint blue light.
"Stop!" Link commanded.
But a scream came from rear of column. A soldier was being dragged into canopy by a strand of silk. Link did not hesitate. He used his [Adrenaline Surge] to bridge distance. He sliced through silk before man disappeared into dark.
"We must use fire on trees!" Link told Ned. "They are using forest against us!"
[New Objective: Break through Web]
Link channeled energy into his blade. Glow intensified until it was blinding. He stepped toward massive web.
"Robert! Give me a clear path!"
King stepped aside with a grin. Link lunged. He drove his burning steel into heart of blue web. Air exploded with sound of shattering glass.
[Quest Progress: Web Shattered]
Forest fell silent for a heartbeat. Then a low and guttural growl echoed from ravine below. It was not a spider. It was something much larger.
