Chapter 112: A Terrible Fate Part 1

Harry conjured a large sphere of water and threw it at the Dark Lord.

This one woke up while making noises of complaint. "W-what?..." He looked around in confusion. His unnatural red eyes scanned his surroundings.

There wasn't much to see. They were inside a naturally formed chamber in an underground cavern.

A single wisp of magical fire was illuminating the space. It was enough to see the stone walls that surrounded them on all sides, with no apparent exit.

Other than stone, the only thing in this place was the countless tree roots that emerged from the rocky walls and continued further into the earth.

Voldemort tried to move his body, but immediately realized that roots and branches had been wrapped over his limbs, leaving only his head unbound.

"Potter! Let me go!"

"I don't think I will do that, Mister Voldemort. It would defeat the purpose of sealing you here," Harry responded.

"Seal me? What are you…where are we?" Voldemort asked.

"That is an interesting question." Harry was eager to explain. "We are beneath what had once been the Realm of Camelot. To be more specific, we are underneath the sacred lake where the legendary dryad once lived."

"What are you talking about? Camelot?... those are just old legends." Voldemort tried to wrestle against his restraints, but the more he tried to move, the more roots and branches seemed to appear to bind him even more.

"I was not done." Harry frowned. "You see…fifteen hundred years ago, I planted a tree next to the lake. A very special tree that was cared for by the Lady of the Lake herself and groomed by the dense magic present in the area. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the tree was still there when I recently visited."

Some of the roots grew closer to Harry, and they reacted when he touched them. It was as if they could recognize him.

Harry smiled and tapped gently on the roots. "That is when I decided that this would make for a good place to keep you. I hope you like it, because you will be here for a very long time."

"You think you can keep me trapped with some roots?" Voldemort scoffed. He then closed his eyes and tried to summon a wandless fire spell to burn them away.

Only to find out that he couldn't. In fact, he could no longer feel his magic at all. "What…what did you do to me?!" He glared at Harry.

"I told you this tree was special. You see…during my travels, I once found a strange variant of an oak tree that was capable of feeding on magic. It was still a sapling back then, so I took it with me and replanted it near the lake. I was curious to find out how much it could grow in an environment rich in magical energies. Turns out…it grew a lot."

"The tree…is eating my magic?" Voldemort sounded outraged.

"It is." Harry nodded. "By now, you shouldn't even be able to conjure a simple Lumos. And you will never cast a spell again. Those roots will not let you go…ever."

There was a clear sense of urgency in Voldemort's eyes. "No…" He wrestled against the roots, trying to free himself by brute force, but it was impossible. The thick roots would not even budge an inch. They had him completely restrained to the point that he could only move his neck around.

"Morsmordre…" Voldemort muttered.

"Mmm?…" Harry glanced at the Dark Lord with curiosity, wondering what he was trying to do now.

"Morsmordre!" Now he shouted the word.

"I don't know what you are t—"

"MORSMORDRE!" Voldemort screamed at the top of his lungs as he shook his body.

"Oh… I see." Harry realized. "You are trying to activate a portkey. Sorry, that is not going to work either. Even if those roots weren't currently restraining you and sapping your magic…you would not be able to leave this place." He pointed at the Dark Lord and chanted something in an ancient language.

Voldemort was shocked to see white chains appearing out of thin air. They were coming from his body and connecting with the walls of the rocky chamber.

"I have performed a very powerful sealing ritual on you and tied your body and soul to this particular underground chamber," Harry explained. It was the same one he had used on Morgan all those years ago.

However, the one he had just used was an improved version, and one that was much more restrictive.

Unlike Morgan, who had free range to move and do whatever she wanted within the limits of London…Voldemort was only allowed to explore the few cubic meters that this chamber offered. Or at least, he could if his body was not being restrained by the roots.

"No methods of magical transportation will be able to get you out of here. No apparition, portkeys, or anything else that you can come up with. You are trapped here, unless I remove the spell," Harry added.

The severity of the situation was starting to sink into Voldemort's mind while he tried to work out a way. And then he found one. "Hehehe…"

"Have you started to go insane? It's a bit early for that," Harry pointed out.

"Fine…you win, Potter," Voldemort said. "I will remain here until I die, which would only take a few days without water. But then…"

"Oh… I see," Harry muttered.

Voldemort smiled. "One day, Potter. I will get my rev—"

"I see that you still don't understand it. You still don't realize how doomed you are, Mister Voldemort." There was a hint of amusement in Harry's eyes. "I could just leave you here to wonder, but...that seems too cruel. So I will tell you..."
