Chapter 12 - Chapter 12

*Chapter 12: The Queen of Shadows*

Aria's eyes locked onto Malika, her heart pounding in her chest like a drumbeat in a war zone. The woman's presence seemed to fill the entire hall, her darkness radiating outwards like a living, breathing entity. The air was thick with the stench of decay and corruption, and Aria could feel the weight of Malika's malevolent power bearing down on her.

Malika's eyes sparkled with amusement as she watched Aria and J approach, her lips curving upwards in a cruel smile. She was more beautiful than Aria had ever seen her, her features sharp and defined, her skin pale and luminous in the flickering torchlight. But her beauty was like a poisoned chalice, a deadly trap that seemed to draw Aria in even as it repelled her.

"Welcome to my home," Malika said, her voice dripping with sarcasm, her eyes glinting with triumph. "I've been waiting for you."

J's grip on Aria's hand tightened, his eyes locked onto Malika's. "We won't be here long," he said, his voice cold and detached, a stark contrast to Malika's venomous tone.

Malika laughed, the sound echoing through the hall like a crack of thunder. "Oh, but you will," she said, her voice filled with confidence, her eyes flashing with triumph. "You see, I have plans for you, J. Plans that involve a great deal of...pain."

Aria felt a surge of fear, but J's face was expressionless, his eyes locked onto Malika's. "You'll never break me," he said, his voice steady, his words like a stone wall that refused to crumble.

Malika's smile faltered, her eyes flashing with anger. "We'll see about that," she said, her voice venomous, her words like a whip cracking through the air.

With a wave of her hand, the hall was filled with shadows, twisting and writhing forms that seemed to come to life. Aria felt herself being pulled away from J, her mind spinning with fear and disorientation.

When the shadows cleared, Aria found herself standing in a small, dark room, the air thick with the scent of damp earth and decay. A figure loomed over her, its eyes glowing with an otherworldly light.

"Welcome to your new home," Malika's voice whispered in her ear, the words like a cold, damp breath on the back of her neck.

Aria tried to scream, but her voice was trapped in her throat, her mind frozen with fear. The last thing she saw was Malika's face, twisted with triumph, before the darkness closed in around her like a shroud.
