Chapter 177 - Chapter 177: Making a Move

Chapter 177: Making a Move

Bang!   Jonathan smashed into the wall, a crater several meters wide bursting open as dust and debris flew, accompanied by spurting blood.

A crosswise wound now ran through the Emperor Crocodile's massive body. Its hide was torn apart, flesh split open, blood flowing like a river.

  "Roar~"

The Emperor Crocodile did not stop. It opened its blood-filled maw and lunged toward Jonathan.

  "Shave!"

He wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth as his body vanished from where he stood.

Boom!!   The Emperor Crocodile crashed into the wall. The entire Marine fortress shook violently, large chunks of rubble raining down.

A wave of dust billowed outward.

Jonathan reappeared beside the Emperor Crocodile's head. Gripping his blade with both hands, he thrust forward with all his might.

  Pff!!

The famed blade, coated in Armament Haki, pierced through the Emperor Crocodile's thick hide without the slightest resistance, plunging all the way in as a fountain of blood erupted.

  "Roar~"

The Emperor Crocodile let out a furious roar and violently swung its head to the side.

Boom!   Jonathan had no time to pull his blade free. Man and sword were smashed together into the stone wall.

"Pff…" Another mouthful of blood sprayed out.

He had no time to think. As the Emperor Crocodile prepared to ram him again, he used the momentum to leap up onto its head.

  "Die!"

Jonathan roared in fury, gripping the blade in reverse and stabbing down toward the Emperor Crocodile's skull.

At that moment, a chill shot up from the soles of his feet.

A hand, white as jade, reached out from the side and instantly grasped his blade. He did not even have time to react.

  "Not bad."

A clear, crisp voice sounded behind him.

Jonathan's pupils shrank violently. Every hair on his body stood on end.

His blade would not go down—it had been stopped, firmly seized by the owner of that hand.

  This strength… this defense…

In that instant, waves of shock surged through Jonathan's heart. With his level of power, his weapon had actually been caught barehanded.

That blade of his was one of the Fifty-One Great Grade Blades.

He clenched his teeth, released his grip on the blade, and hurled his fist backward.

  Bang!!

The punch tore through the air, only to be caught by a slender, elegant hand, producing a sharp air-bursting sound.

A cold, immortal-like face came into view, carrying a smile as gentle as a spring breeze. A pair of pupils that seemed to contain the stars of the heavens gazed straight at him.

  Buzz!!

A surge of Conqueror's Haki erupted from Jiang qize, pressing down upon Jonathan.

At the same time, his pupils turned golden as an imperial majesty radiated from his body.

Buzz!   Jonathan's head jolted, his gaze briefly losing focus.

But in the next instant, a powerful aura burst forth from his body, dispersing part of the Conqueror's pressure and snapping him back to his senses.

At the same time, he struggled to break free.

However, Jiang qize's hand moved. A tremendous force surged out, slamming down onto Jonathan.

  Boom!!

Jonathan staggered violently. His legs buckled, and he was forced down to his knees.

That terrifying force smashed both him and the Emperor Crocodile's head straight into the ground.

A thunderous crash rang out as a shockwave spread in all directions.

  "Pff—"

Jonathan spat out a mouthful of blood.

"I never imagined the Summoner's strength… would be this great!" Jonathan lifted his head and clenched his teeth. Having spat out several mouthfuls of blood, his expression looked ferocious.

His eyes were filled with unwillingness—and fear.

Why did pirates of such brutality grow stronger so quickly? In just one year… he, a Marine who had fought for decades, was being suppressed like this.

"There's still much you don't know. But… you will, eventually."

Jiang qize smiled faintly, then raised his hand and struck sharply at Jonathan's neck.

  "Hngh…"

With unwillingness still etched on his face, Jonathan slowly lost consciousness.
