Chapter 8: Strengthening the Mosasaur
Seeing the Raptorex's strength rise directly from Captain to Lieutenant Commander—a whole major rank—his lips curled into a satisfied smile.
At the same time, a surge of power appeared out of nowhere, flowing through his body. His skin became tougher and fairer, his features sharper and more defined, and his entire presence grew more striking and magnetic.
Buzz!
A faint tremor rippled through his mind, and an invisible wave spread out around him. For a moment, everything nearby appeared vividly in his mind's eye—then vanished in an instant.
"Little brother, your pet…"
Marley, seeing that he ignored him, nervously clenched his teeth and spoke up.
"I'll compensate you."
Jiang Qize glanced at him and replied softly.
That sharp look in his eyes made Marley's neck shrink back. He didn't dare meet his gaze. "Th-thank you, little brother."
As soon as he finished, he hurried off—just standing near Jiang Qize made him feel suffocated.
Jiang Qize raised a sword-like eyebrow, puzzled. Was he really that intimidating?
He didn't realize that as his strength grew, his aura and very presence had undergone a qualitative change.
"Rrrroar~"
The Raptorex lumbered toward him, its massive head gently rubbing against his hand.
He smiled, rubbing its scaled head in return.
"Didn't expect that reinforcement to be so effective. I wonder what you'll become after a mid-level enhancement?"
His eyes glimmered with anticipation for the future. He could hardly wait to hunt down a few pirates with bounties in the hundreds of millions, just to max out the Raptorex's level.
But that was only wishful thinking—right now, he didn't have the strength to take on pirates worth that much.
"Tomorrow, we're setting out to hunt pirates."
Smiling, Jiang Qize patted its head once more, then returned to his room.

"I should strengthen the Mosasaur too. Otherwise, it might not stand a chance against a Sea King-class creature."
Inside his room, Jiang Qize opened the Mosasaur's enhancement interface.
He still had 10.8 million Berries left. After setting aside 800,000 for supplies, that left him with 10 million to use.
After some thought, he decided to enhance [Physique], [Skin], [Bite Force], [Teeth], [Strength], and [Armament Haki].
The Mosasaur already had powerful senses of smell and hearing, so it didn't need Observation Haki. Speed wasn't a priority, and its tail wasn't useful for now—so focusing on strength, bite, and defense would make it an ideal tank.
But damn, money really vanished fast.
Just two dinosaurs, both with only basic reinforcement, had already cost thirty million Berries—and they weren't even fully upgraded.

In the deep, dark ocean—
The vast sea teemed with countless life forms. About ten miles off the coast of Tama Town, a massive gray figure shot through the water like lightning, lunging toward a bull-headed sea beast over ten meters long.
"Moo~!" The bull-headed creature let out a terrified cry and tried to flee.
But the Mosasaur was far too fast. In an instant, it was upon its prey, jaws gaping wide as it bit down savagely.
Squelch…
A fountain of blood spurted from the beast's neck, dyeing the seawater crimson.
Then the Mosasaur twisted violently.
Whrrr!
The surrounding water churned and boiled, forming a swirling, blood-red vortex.
Crunch!
In the next moment, the bull-headed sea beast's head was wrenched clean in half, tumbling down toward the ocean floor.
The Mosasaur was about to enjoy its meal when it suddenly froze. A powerful aura burst from its body—its teeth began to fall out rapidly, replaced by longer, sharper fangs. A faint black sheen flickered across its head, then vanished.
"Rrrroar~!"
A few seconds later, the Mosasaur let out a thunderous bellow and clamped its new jaws around the carcass, tearing it apart in several quick bites.
After devouring its prey, it flicked its massive tail, propelling its colossal body upward through the sea like a streak of gray lightning—and vanished in an instant.
