Chapter 5 - Hunter × Hunter: Invention Master [5]

Chapter 005: Mochi Maker!

"This is the Mochi Maker."

Kaizen, who invented it, couldn't help but clap his hands and said softly:

"Didn't you want to eat mochi? So I invented this machine."

Invention: Mochi Maker

Source: Doraemon World—Future Tech Company.

Many gadgets in Doraemon were invented by Future Tech Company and famous doctors.

As everyone knows, those that can be sold on the open market are within controllable limits.

"Invention? You call this sudden appearance of a machine 'invention'??"

Uvogin's eyes bulged; he wasn't someone who knew nothing.

He understood the meaning of the word "invention."

But—

He had no idea that so-called "invention" referred to this kind of situation!!

"Don't worry about the details."

Kaizen waved his hand, "Being able to eat mochis is the main point, isn't it?"

"You're right..."

Uvogin nodded subconsciously, then paused.

This sudden "invention" from the other party exceeded his thinking ability, leaving him unsure how to discern it.

Uvogin instinctively looked at Machi and found that she was still staring straight at this Mochi Maker.

Well, with the other party producing such a machine, there really wasn't any need to worry about other thoughts.

Because Uvogin could sense that after this machine appeared, this kid seemed to have weakened a bit.

"So how does this thing make mochi?"

Uvogin's large hand patted the maker, producing a dull sound.

"For mochi, of course, you use glutinous rice."

Kaizen gave him a strange look.

"So, this piece of junk still can't directly produce mochi out of thin air, right?"

The function of this Mochi Maker instantly dropped to scrap metal level in Uvogin's eyes.

"I don't know what kind of machine it is outside, but if it still requires glutinous rice..."

Uvogin looked the machine up and down, "Forget glutinous rice, we don't even have any rotten husks of rough rice."

"But if this thing is taken apart, these metal sheets might fetch a good price."

Uvogin's eyes showed obvious eagerness; this unexpected gain directly improved his mood.

So much so that he turned around with interest: "How about it? When we sell it, I'll give you a share of the profits... Huh??"

Seeing the items that appeared again in Kaizen's hands, he couldn't help but pause slightly:

"What are these?!"

"Things for planting glutinous rice."

"...Also invented by you?"

"Otherwise?"

Kaizen said matter-of-factly, "Without glutinous rice, we can't make mochi, so naturally, we have to grow the glutinous rice first."

Grow... glutinous rice?!

Uvogin always felt that such a statement sounded utterly out of place here in Meteor City.

In a place like Meteor City, does the concept of "farming" even exist?!

And doesn't farming require a long period of time?!

"What are you standing there for? Hurry up and plant the rice!"

Kaizen casually tossed a long green capsule toward Uvogin.

The latter fumbled to catch it.

"This is called Seedlings in a Capsule. It contains the raw materials for growing rice."

Before Uvogin could ask, Kaizen explained first.

Then, he pulled out another small green cylinder.

He gently pulled the string at the bottom.

Whoosh—

Bang!

A fiery red artificial sun rose into the air and bloomed.

Under the watchful eyes of Uvogin and Machi, it formed a miniature sun.

This was the Indoor Sun that aided the growth of the seedlings.

Perhaps because it was his first time inventing, aside from the Mochi Maker, many additional small tools were also invented and included as a bonus~!

Pop~

Under the stunned gazes of Uvogin and Machi, Kaizen took out the Cloud in a Bottle and directly opened the lid.

And the most important one...

"Cloud Scarecrow, and..."

Kaizen spread out a layer of damp paddy field blueprint on the floor of the room:

"Super Mini Rice Paddy."

This rice paddy even came with fertilizer already prepared.

"With this, the preliminary preparations are complete..."

Kaizen wiped the sweat from his face and breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Hmm, inventing so many tools was unexpected and had taken quite a toll on him.

But then again, Uvogin's request was for Mochi.

The things he had invented weren't machines that directly conjured mochis out of thin air.

They still required planting, harvesting, and then feeding the results into the manufacturing machine to produce the mochis.

With so many extra steps in between, it made it possible for him to bear the cost of so many inventions.

"In other words, if the invention directly achieves the goal, the cost would be higher. But if I still need to put in the effort myself in between, the cost of the invention would be somewhat lower..."

Kaizen gained a bit more understanding of his own abilities.

"Even so, the cost isn't low. I still need to find a way to use Restrictions and Vows to reduce this kind of expenditure..."
