This is Starfox's unique ability, emotional control.
It is not simple mind control, but rather like boiling a frog in warm water, amplifying the target's affection and eventually gaining control over their will through subtle influence.
The two continued to fight, finally leading the giant beast near the broken suspension bridge.
"Now, Peter!" Eros roared.
Peter did not hesitate, firing high-intensity spider silk continuously from both hands.
He combined the dozens of bucket-thick load-bearing steel cables remaining on the bridge with his spider silk, weaving them into an extra-large super web.
"We need to find a way to trip it!" Peter suggested loudly. "Its base is very stable, but its upper body is too heavy! I need your strength, Eros!"
"No problem, watch me!" Eros seized the opportunity and suddenly accelerated, slamming into the giant beast's jaw like a cannonball.
The Super Strength granted by the Titan race erupted with full force, and the giant beast's massive body was actually knocked backward by this blow.
Peter took the opportunity to quickly shoot spider silk to stick to the unsteady feet of the giant beast.
The giant beast tripped, lost its balance, and crashed down, landing right in the center of the spider web.
"Lock it down!" Eros dashed back and forth in the air, trying to suppress the struggling giant beast.
Peter shuttled quickly between the steel frames of the broken bridge, firmly fixing the edges of the spider web to the base of the steel towers on both sides.
The giant beast struggled frantically, its sharp claws tearing through some of the steel cables, but Peter's special spider silk, enhanced by Vought's black technology, showed amazing resilience, wrapping tighter and tighter.
To completely suppress this behemoth, Eros flew to both sides of the bridgehead, his fists hammering like raindrops against the two tottering steel towers.
Crack, crack, crack—
The load-bearing structure broke, and the two steel towers, weighing hundreds of thousands of tons, collapsed, crossing and smashing onto the giant beast's back and limbs.
Boom—!
Dust filled the air.
The giant beast was trapped tightly beneath the scrap steel and spider web, struggling incessantly and letting out angry roars.
It looked like it wouldn't be able to break free for a while.
The battle came to a temporary pause.
Peter shot a strand of spider silk and swung to the top of a building that was still relatively intact. He pulled off his mask, breathing in the fresh air deeply, sweat dampening his hair.
Eros also landed on the rooftop and walked over to Peter.
The two smiled at each other, tacitly raised their hands, and high-fived in mid-air.
The audience in the livestream chat, however, exploded upon seeing this scene.
Dense comments flowed like a waterfall on the screen.
"What the hell? Did I walk into the wrong scene?"
"How did a proper PVP deathmatch turn into a two-player PVE dungeon?"
"What is Spider-Man doing! That's the enemy! That's Thanos's brother!"
"This alien is quite handsome, and he's actually a pretty good guy; he saved Spider-Man several times just now."
"The person above, wake up! This is a life-or-death battle! If we lose, Earth is finished!"
"Is this Spider-Man's strategy? Use the monster to drain the enemy's stamina first?"
"Bullshit! Look at the way that kid is looking at the alien—it's like he's looking at his own brother! He must have been brainwashed!"
"Where is Homelander? Hurry up and control the students from your academy!"
"This tactic is too outrageous, I don't understand it, it's mind-blowing."
Not only the ordinary citizens, but the heroes on the staging platform also furrowed their brows.
"Jarvis just scanned that alien's movement parameters. He saved Peter three times, but there was human intervention in every crisis," Tony analyzed calmly.
"What do you mean?" Thor asked, full of confusion.
"It means if there's a crisis, he saves him; if there's no crisis, he creates one to force a rescue," Homelander explained for Tony.
Steve also sensed something was wrong: "Ancient One, did you notice? Peter's intention to attack has completely disappeared. His emotional changes are too fast. Is it magic?"
The Ancient One's expression was calm, but her eyes narrowed slightly: "It's not magic; it's like some kind of high-level mental interference... He has distorted Peter's emotional perception."
Homelander stood with his hands behind his back, but he wasn't panicked at all.
This was all stuff he had played with years ago; he had already established an absolute bond with Spider-Man years ago.
On the field.
The dust gradually settled.
"We did it," Eros patted Peter's shoulder and praised him. "You are an amazing warrior, Peter. We are the best partners."
Peter looked at Eros with eyes full of gratitude and warmth. "If it weren't for you, I couldn't have done all this. Thank you, buddy."
Eros sighed, the smile on his face gradually fading, replaced by a sad and helpless expression.
He looked up at the gray sky, his voice becoming deep.
"Peter, this gladiatorial match... is really cruel."
"Yeah," Peter said with deep empathy. "Why do we have to kill each other? If everyone in the Universe were like you, there would be no war."
Eros slowly turned his head, looking deeply into Peter's eyes.
Those eyes seemed to possess some kind of strange magic, firmly drawing Peter's consciousness into them.
"Peter." Starfox's voice brushed past Peter's ears like a breeze. "We are friends, right?"
"Of course, Eros!" Peter nodded vigorously. "You've saved me several times; you are a true hero."
"Since we are friends, why do we have to kill each other?" Eros said in a sorrowful voice. "You know, my brother Thanos is a tyrant."
"If I lose this match, he will slaughter all the Planets I have stayed on. Billions of lives are in my hands."
Peter's heart tightened, and a strong sense of sympathy instantly flooded in.
"That's too terrible..." Peter murmured. "Then... what should we do?"
"It's very simple, my friend." Eros's fingers rubbed gently on Peter's shoulder, his emotional power output reaching maximum efficiency.
"As long as you voluntarily withdraw. As long as you call out that you forfeit, the match will end. No one will be hurt, and my brother won't go and slaughter those innocent lives."
Peter's eyes became unfocused.
He only felt that the man in front of him was his most trusted friend, and a friend would not harm him.
And in his mind, the tragic scenes depicted by Eros intertwined with the peaceful option before him.
Yeah, just forfeiting would be enough.
No one would die.
This is what a Superhero should do.
Peter slowly raised his right hand, preparing to signal the Grandmaster.
On the staging platform, Steve and Tony stood up at the same time.
"No! Peter! Don't listen to him!" Tony shouted anxiously.
"He's been mind-controlled!" Steve clenched his fists.
On the scene and in the livestream, the audience across the Universe held their breath.
Only on the Black Order's staging bench did Thanos reveal a smug smile.
On the field, Peter's lips parted slightly.
"I..."
Just at the moment this word was about to escape his lips.
Drip.
In Peter's mind, it was as if a drop of Water had fallen into a calm lake.
Time seemed to stand still at this moment.
All ambient sounds disappeared. The giant beast's roar, Starfox's gentle voice, the sound of the wind blowing through the ruins, all faded away.
In Peter's mental World, a tall, imposing figure appeared.
