Steel had to wait for few days before his meeting with Shining Reach. So until then he has to do something else to do. He has some reports to write about that barrack bug too.
The previous reports written by that novice were flawed and had many mistaken that was pointed put by Steel. So what he got for pointing out other's flaws? More work.
They are asking him to correct the mistakes of that human. Then teach that novice to how to write reports.
He had no teachers for himself. He understood all of this work all alone. It took time and effort but now he has to share his knowledge for free? This is almost disrespectful. Not to mention, he has extra work cause of that novice human too.
If he ever were to meet that guy. He is gonna make that guy's life a living hell for sure. But for now, he would just have to finish this report.
He can also do that later though. He isn't a slacker or a procrastinator but right now he has more important thing to do. Like River.
Soon or later, he would have to leave Boneyard with those human. So he can't really leave River in his apartment. There is a danger of his landowner forgetting about his existence and then checking the place.
Steel also just doesn't feel safe leaving a demon of cataclysm inside of his sweet home.
River wouldn't do anything. Or atleast that's what she says but he is still worried. Not about her but about himself.
Her new hobby is dangerous. She can make noises that can alert humans around her. Worst of all, if she becomes capable of moving her body without him being around. She can run away.
He isn't sure if she would run away. But he is paranoid as always and he would never trust a single creature. He has come up with a plan.
The plan does put a smile on his face.
It is to bury her up in the ground. Not like how he did before going to the human camp. This time he wanted to bury her deep underground.
There is a graveyard in boneyard. It is kind of weird to have a graveyard inside this place. Steel wonders how were they able to dig in this bone like hard ground? But that really isn't important.
The important thing is that. If there is a graveyard then there are graves of humans and he can bury her in one of those graves. He doesn't care about desecrating some human's grave. He is a demon why would he care about human burial grounds?
This human community is also basically on a dead demon. Technically they're the first one to desecrate someone's corpse. He is just making the score equal.
War looks at the cupboard and asks River in his mind.
[You ready for being buried again?]
River replies without much emotion.
[okay]
Sometimes, Steel wishes that there were some emotion in her. Then it would be more fun burying someone alive.
He takes out River from the cupboard. He would have to make the River backpack again. That lost innovation of Steel will never be appreciated by anyone but he is proud of himself.
But before that, he needs to do something about her face. He still doesn't wanna risk anyone seeing that face of hers. It is better if he cover it up. How would he cover it up?
Well, he will cover it up with a bunch of left out bandages. It isn't like River has any problem with it. She doesn't really breathe so it is fine.
So that's what he be doing all day and when the night comes then he would leave for the graveyard.
There isn't really a real day and night cycle in boneyard. The night is just a little darker than the day. There is also no moon in the sky. Steel sort of misses that misshapen moon of the West world.
***
Steel had wrapped those bandages on her face. Now she looks like a half mummy or something.
What are mummy? Well, he had read comics about it. According to them, mummies are terrifying devil spawns that are found in the Great pyramids of East world.
Steel never wants to visit that hellish place. Who would ever wanna fight something so ugly and terrifying. He is gonna stick with his current problems.
After all that, he leaves his apartment and run towards the human graveyard. That place is pretty far away so it would take a whole night to just get their. He just hopes he reaches that place before the darkness fades away.
He would then have to get back home too. That would take his whole day. So he would be so much more tired when he get home. He sure never gets to take things easy. life of a demon sure is pain.
Or maybe his life specifically is pain. He just can't tell.
For now, he has to carry River to that Graveyard. That journey is just gonna be boring and tedious.
In the past, whenever he needs to sneak through the Human community. He had made mistakes and nearly been seem by humans. But He had a lot of time on his hand to learn how to walk through a human civilization.
There is only one rule that he needs to follow. Just be patient. He wouldn't say that it is that simple. But there really much more to that.
Sneaking through a place as crowed as Boneyard is surprisingly easier than the jungles of West world. The devil spawns actively are looking for prey so of course they would find him soon or later.
But humans are usually just in their own tiny world. So he really doesn't have to worry about being caught by them. But there are also humans that are hunting in Boneyard.
So he just have to be vary for those guys. He had also never encountered one of those types in the past. So what are the chances that he would now?
Whatever happens will be dealt by Steel. So for now he just needs to get to the graveyard with River on her back as a backpack.
It also take much time to reach that place. It only took close to four or five hours of continuous running.
But he is here now. Inside of a human cemetery.
So does he feels about entering a location where dead humans are buried? Nothing much. He feel nothing.
He is here to do his work and that work is the bury River. He doesn't have time to worry about morals or anything even close to that. He is already in the lowest level of moral scale. What morals do demons even have? None that he knows about.
So he enters the graveyard and walks through it. Looking for some grave to desecrate that is big enough for River. She is pretty small so every grave is big enough for her. Not like she would ever complain about these things.
Steel's actions are to choose a random grave and start digging it. It would probably take an hour or so to dig the whole grave out and bury her inside of it. So he better move quickly.
He had brought a tiny shove that he put inside of River's clothes. She really is like a backpack, isn't she?
Well, time to work and then get home.
However, there are always people who wants to disturb hardworking people like Steel. He hears footsteps of humans. Three sets of footsteps.
Steel looks at the humans. One is in the back, other two are on the right and left. They walking towards him and one of them says.
"I would say that you are not burying someone out of respect. Who is she anyway? Your daughter? Are you here to bury her with the mom?"
The voice sounded immature. So it is probably just a teenager. Steel presumes that they're just some street rats. He has no idea that he was being followed. Or do these humans just live nearby and saw him coming? That could be the reason.
It is obvious why would they be here. They probably things that he murdered this person. As River is just laying on the ground with bandages covering her face. So they're here to ask for money to keep there mouth shut.
Steel was bragging out how he never been caught by humans. But now he is here about to be blackmailed by these humans.
He needs to think what to do with these humans. He can't just let them leave after seeing him and River.
"We can keep a secret. Our tongues are really cheap, you see."
Steel wonders to himself.
'what to do…'
