As he clicked his phone off. "Are you going to quit?" I asked him.
"No." Charles said with a smile. Getting dressed was not a concern for bounty hunters.
"Why not there might be an A-lister, maybe even an S-lister?" I asked.
"No, You why?" Charles said with a twisted smile. Why was he smiling?
"Why?" I asked what he meant. He must have when insane.
"4 years ago, 8 months and 11 days. Styx the bounty Hunter." Charles said Styx is a bounty hunter who has fought him several times as Hell Hound. They're basically the same person using the same bag of tricks. Their fights always walked away with both losing. As we walked into the street.
"But I know that only 2,100 people are let in. 2,000 by those placing within the top of the leaderboard and 100 form recommended by high power Hunters. Since most of them will be allied with the Adam family." A person said it was a well known event. The biggest family with over thousand of members. As he walked through the slums. Coming to a house who reeked of death. As blood pooled on the floor.
"It is far too long." Charles said with a smile. As this boot stomps in the pools of blood.
"It has not been long enough." I said feeling the hatred as he passed a room with someone hanging by their own intestines. Another open door there was a pile of corpses. The feeling of dread was heavier. Many of them were Hunters. But they are all foolish.
"S-rank Vengeful Spirit, Charlotte Pendulum." He said as he grabbed the black ring box. As the air grew suffocating. Charles opened the box and it became as if my gut felt like it was full of lead. Charles smiled. From the ground a white humanoid. Seemed to be cloaked in heavy white armor. Its single blood red eye glowed.
"Hello, Charles. My partner." She said her voice was demonic. The room around us turns into crystals. A Vengeful Spirit with an unlimited amount of Starlight does to Charles making a Chaos Bind using the lives of 1,000 people. A being that could rival the Vengeful King. But Charles can only use her power once a day for five minutes before his body starts to fall apart. But now he needs that diamond ring. Charles was smiling.
"Thank you, partner." Charles said as he closed the ring box and slipped it into his pocket. Walking out of the hell hole.
"Why do you need to bring that?" I asked him if the ring might be the dual edge sword.
"Because she wanted to be a hunter like me so many times." Charles said with a somber smile on his face. As he walked down the ruined streets people were hiding in shadows. Looking at Charles with fear.
"Welcome to the entrance exam!" The person spoke. He was wearing a Hypersuit. "This is called The Castle!" He showed us a door. Then it opens slowly. Someone walks out.
"You all get a generation two Hyper suit to fight the being of Chaos." The person said his face was full of scars.
"Collect as many points as possible." The first one said as we all got Hyper Suits they were skin tight so we wore some clothes. I wore some pants and a trench coat.
"As Hellsing used to say, Let the Hunt Begin!" A person rang. The door we were waiting in front opened. Everyone rushed in. I walked in the dimly lit place and it was like a forest. Seeing a few red eyes. Charles killed the three ghouls by shooting them in the head. As I heard clapping from behind us.
"Hello there Mr Charles I was sent by the House of Evolution. To ask you to join us. We want to surpass Hellsing. Humanity must evolve to survive." The person said as he came out of the shadows. He was wearing a smug grin on his face.
"Why?" Charles asked, looking confused. The person smiled.
"Why? Because you're strong of course you are an incredible fighter." The person said with a twisted smile. As a bullet went into his head red crimson dripped from the wound.
"Why? Would I listen to those who killed my allies?" Charles growled his blue eyes gleaming in the low light. Hearing a laugh from behind us we looked back.
"Hahaha ha ha. You're just like the report said. You really do have a soft spot for your allies." The person said as the bullet was pushed out of the wound. The wound was steaming.
"Great a Vampire but something feels wrong. What the hell are you?" Charles asked, looking anger at the being.
"I am a regenerator. An evolved Human." The person bragged. "My name is Alex 001." Alex 001 said with a smile.
"Bastard." Charles said, shooting ten more rounds into his head.
"Really if it did not work the first time then why would it work the other ten times would it work." Alex 001 mocking Charles. Charles shot him in the head again.
"Well it makes you shut up so it's worth it." Charles said. His eyes were filled with hatred looking at this creature.
"Really-" Alex 001 said as Charles kicked him in the mouth. The kick shattered his teeth. Hearing a cracking sound as Alex 001's spine was shattered against the tree. Charles turned his back. Charles started to walk. Then he turned his head.
"I hate you from the bottom of my heart." Charles said as he turned his head. Then he heard chuckling.
"No wonder you were unable to protect Charlotte." Alex 001 said as Charles froze. His body stiffened as he turned back to Alex 001. Alex 001 injected him with a crimson liquid. Alex 001 muscle budged and his eyes glowed red. His finger sharpens into claws.
"I will kill you." Charles muttered. His eyes were filled with murderous rage. He rolled under a claw swipe. Charles kicked the knee of Alex 001, shattering it. It quickly healed.
"Arrrgh!" Alex 001 started to roar as if it was like that Evolved Ghoul. Charles blocked his claws with his sword. Charles was forced to his knees. Charles was growling.
"Damn what it is made of." Charles snarled. As he deflected the blow to the ground. Charles slashed deep into Alex 001 flesh.
"Blood… Body.. Soul. Heal." Alex 001 chanted as the wound quickly closed. Alex 001 chomped down Charles stabbed into the open mouth. It left through its head. The sword was soaked in blood.
"What. Is this thing?" Charles asked if he knew it was but he still had so many questions. I knew he hated fighting without information. As Charles was thrown against the tree.
"Ggggrrr." Alex 001 growled. Walking slowly to Charles. Grabbing Charles by the arm. "You are weak. This is why you can't defend yourself." Alex 001 taunted.
"I may be weak but I refuse to lose to the likes of you." Charles said, stabbing Alex 001 in the head. The sword started to glow with Starlight. Alex started to burn. Alex screamed in pain throwing Charles away. The wound started to close.
"Bastard!" Alex screamed. Holding his wound. Charles shot him in the hand. The wound started to glow. The bullet was infused with Starlight. Charles put his sword and gun away. Charles charged. Alex punched. Charles ran up his arm. Then ripped out his right eye.
"You will pay for your words." Charles said as he lifted his eye. He had crushed it in his hand. Alex swings at Charles. Charles backstepped, dodging his attack. Charles was smiling. Why was he smiling?
"I will kill you!" Alex roared, charging at Charles. Lunging at Charles he sidesteps. Followed by Charles grabbing both sides of his head. Kneeing his face once, twice three times he was speeding up. Followed by him gracefully landing behind Alex.
"This is fun. I am starting to learn why those two always fight." Charles said with his grin growing. For a second I thought Charles' eyes were golden. Alex stands back up. Now Alex seemed more like a monster than an evolved Human. Alex dropped to all fours.
"Flash Step." Alex said as he appeared in front of Charles. Sending him hitting a tree. Causing the bark to shatter. His forehead was now bleeding. Hearing an insane giggle. Looking at Charles he was laughing.
"That's a good one." Charles said standing up with a crazed smile. Great, now he was acting like Hellsing. As Starlight clings to him like armor. Letting out a sigh.
"Why do you have to turn out like Hellsing?" I asked myself as I started to fly above the battle between the two. Getting off Charles' shoulder. He charged at Alex.
"Come at me!" Alex howled at Charles. Letting out a gust of wind. Alex blocked the first blow. But Charles slipped past the guard. Hitting Alex face a few of his teeth fell out. Then Charles stabbed deep into his chest. Then ripped out a lung.
"Damn missed." Charles said with a smile dropping the king to the floor. "I was aiming for the heart." He said. The wound started to close and steamed. Alex was heavily painting. Alex claws were covered in Chaos Energy.
"Cleave through my enemies. Let their blood flow. Chaos Slash." As five slash of Chaos energy caused small wounds to appear on Charles chest. The Starlight seemed to block most of the damage.
"Wow this Starlight is very useful. I wonder how Seris knew its name?" Charles wondered out loud. As Alex charged like a wild beast.
"Die!" Alex yelled. Charles dodged the attack. Charles kicked Alex's jaw. It regrew. Alex's body started to convulse as he grew his skin became red.
"Wow, becoming a Ghoul is that interesting." Charles said with a smile. Alex let out a beastal roar. Alex jumped at Charles. Charles kicked him into the tree. As the Starlight faded. Blood trickled down Charles' mouth. Charles wiped his mouth. "Damn looks like I won't be able to use Starlight for a while." Charles said with a shrug. Looking at Alex. He got back up snarling at Charles. Sensing something was wrong.
"Watch out Charles!" I yelled. But he looked at me. As he was bitten from behind by a Ghoul. He looked at the Ghoul. He pointed Jackal at its forehead and then it was merely a spatter of blood. It slowly turned into smoke. Charles looked at it burning with mild curiosity. Then his smile turned to a frown.
"You ruined it now I have to leave." Charles said waving goodbye. He added pressure to the wound. To slow the bleeding. The area seemed to grow darker.
"System hacked! Shutting down." A robotic voice said. Just great. Can this get any worse?
"Hello there wannabe Vampire Hunters! I added a few more fun things to the castle." A male voice that sounded way too happy. "I am a member of the House of Evolution." As with those last words I heard a beep. The arena got darker. Finding a cave was small. Finding medical supplies hidden. Charles was able to stop the bleeding.
"If the House of Evolution is looking to kill us then why not fill this place with poison gas? That must not be it. Battle data that is what there after." Charles said, snapping his fingers.
"Why?" I asked what he knew. Why would they be after battle data?
"To surpass Hellsing they would have to gain an extreme amount of battle data. See weakness in the design and then fix it making themselves stronger." Charles said with a smile on his face. What was he thinking?
"So why you?" I asked. Why did they want Charles?
"I have no clue." Charles said, leaning back on the wall. How could he be so carefree? At least he had stopped the bleeding. Landing on his shoulder.
"Hello again." A female voice spoke. It was that female clown. Charles got back up.
"What are you doing here clown." Charles spoke with venom. He slowly pulled out his sword. Both of their swords clashed with sparks. I flew off Charles' shoulder.
"I am a jester." She said Charles kicked her in the side. Forcing her back out of the cave. Flying out of the cave. Seeing she was being pushed back. As she was at the edge. She was able to roll under the slash.
"Clown." Charles said. Once again their sword clashes. Sparks flying off of them. Charles followed with a punch. She dodged the attack. Moving to the side, tripping him. Charles stops right at the edge. He seemed as was about to fall trying to balance himself. Kicking at the clown. She was able to dodge.
"I am a jester, are you deaf?" The clown said. As their swords clash once again. But then she backed off.
"This trick." Charles snarled. As he pulled out his gun. A bullet whizzes past the clown head. She did not move. He intended to test if she could move. Then a second bullet barely missed chipping her mask. The third time she cut the bullet. Charles charged. Kicking the hilt of the blade. Prevent it from slashing him. She barely ducts out of the way.
"Has anyone told you that you're insane?" She questioned him.
"Nope." Charles said he was lying through his teeth. Arthur, Willam and I have all told him. On several occasions.
"Well you are clearly surrounded by insane people." The Clown said with her voice filled with shock. Charles had a grin on his face. His eyes gleamed with bloodlust.
"Insane? Sane? What is the difference between them. They are just something to describe others?" Charles said why was he being a philosopher? Charles fired three more shots, only one hit. It dug deep into her shoulder. Charles' bandage started to turn crimson. Damn it the wound has reopened.
"Great, just great." I said this was turning out for the worse. Charles' eyes seem to glow golden. Both of them charged at each other. Their sword clashes. Charles lifted his gun. The Clown grabbed the barrel and lifted it into the air. Charles headbutted her in the face. Her mask started to crack.
"You're a monster." The Clown said looking at Charles' now bleeding forehead. The mask started to crumble showing a face.
"Abel Adam. Really that's a shock." Charles said his smile was still on his face.
"Really Charles Pendulum. A commoner with no lineage has such power. No wonder the House of Evolution wants you." Abel said her voice was grim. She started to glow blue. Wait, she was wearing a Hyper Suit.
"Let the hunt begin." Charles said as he was cloaked with Starlight. It glowed brightly. Charles charged. Their swords clashed. Charles kicked. Abel jumped over getting sent back. Abel charged. She went for an overhead swing. But Charles was able to parry the blow.
"Chaos Flash!" Abel yelled as space warped. Blue lightning leaped from the wound. Her Chaos Energy seemed to be filled up and bigger than before.
"Damn, thank you for my Starlight blocking most of the damage." Charles said with a smile. He was using it at a much lower output than before. Allowing him to use it for longer. Both of them charged. Once again there is a sword clash. Looks like Charles was the one losing the exchange. Charles leaped back. He was breathing heavily. A smile crossed his face. As he vanished.
"Where is he?" Abel asked, looking quite shocked. As a wound appeared on her back. She swung at nothing. Charles appeared a few steps in front of her. His sword was dripping with. Blood.
"Like it still needs a name." Charles said with a wide smile. He held his gun up and pulled the trigger but nothing came out. Suddenly a bullet wound appeared on her shoulder.
"A phantom bullet." Abel said, pulling the bullet out of the wound. She winces at the pain. Charles grin grew with a huge smile.
"Phantom Bullet what a perfect name thank you Abel. Then I will call the other move. Phantasm." Charles said with a gleam in his eyes. Glowing a golden color. He seemed so happy. His wound was still bleeding. Charles' blood was dripping on the ground. Charles held up his gun as Abel rolled out of the way. Charles charged, kicking Abel in the gut. There was no bullet fired. It was a lie.
"You fake fire a bullet smart move." Abel said, looking at Charles with disdain. As she charged. Charles disappeared. "We are you!" She yelled. Suddenly she went limp. As then Charles started to carry her. Back into the cave. He started to clean the wounds using rubbing alcohol. Stitching the wounds closed. Then follow it with some bandages.
"Why are you helping her?" I asked why he would save an enemy.
"Because I need information from her. She is no use dead." Charles said, looking at her. Hearing some growling. He picked up Abel. Giving her a piggyback ride. Charles used a robe to tie her to his back.
"Ghouls." I said as Charles nodded. "There are a total of three of them." As I told him this he started walking out. Charles looked at them. Firing at all of them, killing them swiftly. They all started to turn to ash. He started to climb the harsh cliff. His hand slipped and the rocks fell down but he was able to keep his grip on the cliff.
"She better have some info on House of Evolution." Charles mutters as he continues the climb.
"Still think we should kill her." I spoke out of jealousy. As Charles shaked his head.
"She is the daughter of Adam Adam. Her death would be heavily investigated and I don't want to go to jail or be executed." Charles said with a grim tone.
