Chapter 28 - Hidden Awakening

The station still vibrated under the artifact's pulses. Kael felt the echo reverberate throughout the core, each impulse capable of changing the layout of the corridors in a second.

Zara moved forward, her guns glinting in the dim emergency light. "I don't feel at ease. This place is still alive."

Rex glanced at the floor, where the metal panels vibrated beneath their feet. "Kael, I feel something else awakening. The station hasn't said its last word yet."

Lira moved to the control panel, her fingers flying across the screens. "The system is detecting new activity. It's not the shadow we blocked. Something is awakening deep within the core."

Taro pushed the cables aside and looked at the data. "If it's another mechanism or artifact, we're in trouble. The artifact's echo is strong, but new pulses could drown it out."

Kael nodded. "We stay together. The echo will guide us. We won't let anything separate us."

The corridors began to shake more violently. The metal walls emitted a low, rumbling tone, as if the station was reacting to the team's presence.

Zara rolled her eyes. "Great, so the station is alive, the shadow is trapped, and now something new is awakening. Perfect."

Rex snorted. "Perfect doesn't mean safe. Kael, we need to be ready for anything."

Kael reached out toward the artifact. The pulse in his hand surged, filling his entire body and synchronizing the team with the station's core.

Lira activated more sensors. "The new pulses are strong, but predictable if we stay synchronized."

Taro connected the terminal to the core, monitoring the energy. "Temporary interference, but the artifact is responding. This is our chance."

The shadow that had previously been trapped in the trap seemed to respond to the new pulses. Its movements were irregular, as if it were trying to adjust to the station's new rhythm.

Zara raised her rifle, tracking its every movement. "Looks like not everything has been taken care of. But we have the advantage."

Kael nodded, focusing on the artifact's pulse. "We need to reach the higher security core before the new pulses fully awaken."

Rex moved first, checking the flank. "I don't know if our synchronization will be enough if something bigger shows up."

Lira nodded. "We have to rely on our reflexes and the artifact. That's the only advantage we have."

Kael moved toward the core, the artifact's echo pulsing faster and faster, revealing possible threats. The metallic floors shook with every step, and every corridor was filled with uncertainty.

Zara glanced briefly at Kael. "If what's awakening is stronger than the shadow... this is going to be fun."

Kael nodded. "And we have no choice but to move forward."

The team pressed on, the artifact's echo pulsing in time with their breaths, guiding them through the increasingly unstable station.

The station's corridors shook harder and harder, the metallic walls emitting a low, continuous tone that Kael could sense through the artifact's pulses. The echo flowed through his entire body, revealing new dangers around every turn and in every room.

Zara leaped over an overturned control panel, rifles at the ready. "I don't know what awaits us here, but one thing is certain—this place won't let us leave easily."

Rex raised his rifle, blocking the side corridor. "Some new energy is awakening. If we're not quick, it could separate us and... the end."

Kael nodded. "We stay together. The artifact guides us, the echo shows the risks. Every move must be synchronized."

Lira slid her fingers across the terminals, synchronizing the station's system with the artifact. "The new pulses are unpredictable, but I can slow them down if we keep up the pace."

Taro moved the cables aside, looking at the dynamic readings. "It's as if the core of the station is trying to awaken something that was dormant. The shadow was just a harbinger."

Kael quickened his pace, leading the team toward the core of the higher security measures. The artifact's echo pulsed more intensely, showing the optimal paths.

Zara leaped over a gap in the floor, firing at the suddenly activated security drones. "Someone tell me missions are boring."

Rex followed her, suppressing the drones' fire, while Kael led the rest of the team to the rhythm of the artifact's pulses. The metallic floors shook, and every movement was monitored by the station's systems and new pulses of energy.

Lira activated additional sensors, tracking every movement of the unknown force. "This thing isn't a shadow. It's... something older. The station is reacting to its presence."

Taro studied the data. "The artifact helps us predict its movements, but if it gets close to the core... synchronization may not be enough."

Kael felt the artifact's vibrations at full intensity. "We can't wait. We have to reach the core before the energy fully awakens."

The shadow that had previously been trapped began to move in rhythm with the new impulses. Its movements were chaotic but detectable by the artifact's echo. Kael realized that now they were fighting not only for survival but for control of the entire station system.

Zara fired a series of shots, blocking her opponent's escape routes. Rex supported her with rifle fire, creating a curtain of fire.

Kael moved forward, allowing the artifact's pulse to flow through the entire team's bodies, synchronizing their movements and decisions. The artifact's echo was now their advantage, and every second could mean success or disaster.

The metallic walls shook harder and harder, and the system's drones became increasingly aggressive. Kael sensed that this was the last stretch of their journey before the core of the higher security measures.

Zara muttered, "If we don't make it in time... I don't know what will happen."

Kael nodded. "We can't lose. The artifact and synchronization are our only advantages. We must use them to the fullest."

The team moved on, the echo of the artifact pulsing in time with their hearts, the station making increasingly aggressive sounds. The metallic floors shook, and every step required complete concentration.

The core of the station slowly emerged at the end of the corridor. Its metallic walls glowed with red emergency lights that pulsed in time with the artifact. Kael felt the artifact's echo grow stronger, signaling that they were approaching the climax.

Zara jumped over an overturned panel, rifles at the ready. "I don't know what's waiting for us in there, but I know one thing—it's going to be a wild ride."

Rex glanced at the drone system, which had suddenly activated in rhythm with the core's pulses. "Looks like the station is trying to hold us back until the last moment."

Kael nodded. "We stay together. Synchronizing the artifact and the system is our only chance. Every move must be deliberate and synchronized."

Lira moved to the control panel, her fingers flying across the screens as she created a protective energy net. "The new pulses are increasing, but I can mitigate their impact. This is our chance."

Taro connected the terminal to the core, monitoring the energy and predicting every potential move of the enemy. "Whatever it is, it's more powerful than the shadow. We have to be faster and more precise."

The shadow appeared suddenly from a side passage, its movements irregular, but the artifact predicted them with increasing accuracy. Kael sensed that this was the decisive moment.

"Let's go!" Kael shouted, leading the team toward the core.

Zara immediately jumped over the obstacles, firing precise shots at the shadow. Rex supported her with rifle fire, blocking the side passages. Kael allowed the artifact's pulse to flow through his body, synchronizing every movement of the team.

The metallic walls shook, and the artifact's echo pulsed stronger and stronger, restricting the shadow's movements. Kael felt they had the advantage, but the enemy was still dangerous.

Zara grunted with a smile. "Looks like we can finally slow it down. But it's not over yet."

Rex snorted. "One more false move and... it's over. Kael, we have to be ready for anything."

Kael looked at the artifact, and its pulse spread throughout the team. "Stay in sync. It's our only advantage."

The shadow tried to break through the barriers created by the artifact and the station, but its every move was slowed and restricted. The team was approaching the core of the higher security measures, and each step was synchronized with the energy of the artifact.

Zara fired a series of precise shots, Rex supported her with rifle fire, and Kael led the team in rhythm with the artifact's pulses. Echoes bounced off the metallic walls, anticipating the enemy's every move.

Finally, the shadow stopped, partially immobilized by the energy net. Kael felt the artifact's pulse at full intensity. "We did it. But don't forget—this is only the beginning."

Lira nodded, looking at the core. "The synchronization worked. But something else is awakening. We can't rest on our laurels."

Taro moved the cables aside, rearranging the terminal. "The artifact is responding to everything, but the new energy is still growing. We need to prepare for more pulses."

Kael looked at the team. "Good. We've stopped the shadow, but the station and the artifact still hold secrets. Let's keep going."

The team moved forward, the echo of the artifact pulsing in time with their hearts, the metallic floors trembling with every step. The path to the core of the higher security measures was open, but each pulse from the station was a reminder that the danger was not yet over.
