Chapter 2 - It looks like a fairy tale

While I was waiting for the subway to pass thru my station, I watched what the other people were doing, but one caught my attention: he seemed to be reading something on his phone. What could it be?

Maybe he was rejected for the job, or fired. No, I don't think it's that; he seems to be enjoying it. Could it be that a girl asked him out, or is he reading a comic book or a novel?

When I heard the subway had arrived, I stopped looking at the other passengers and made sure to get on first so I could easily grab a seat, which I did without any trouble. Out of the corner of my eye, I caught sight of the same guy I'd been watching earlier approaching to sit next to me—to my left, to be exact.

Out of instinct, I wanted to see what he was looking at, since he seemed to still be watching the same thing he'd been watching for a while, but I didn't want to be rude and look at someone else's phone.

So I would have to wait for the right moment. I started looking at the other people and noticed a boy in front of me with some insects and a net to catch them. And besides that, there was no one else who was interesting…

When we arrived at the next station, a beautiful, brown-haired woman who seemed to have a cheerful personality got on the subway and stood next to the person beside me.

"H-hello," he said.

"Have you just left the office?" the woman said.

"Yes, you too?"

"I was lucky the manager went on a trip," the woman said as she sat down.

The man next to me seemed fascinated by the woman's appearance, and I don't blame him—she's really beautiful.

Although I didn't want to listen to their conversation, I really couldn't do anything about it since I have good hearing.

"Please lend me some money," she said.

The guy didn't seem to understand at first, but she told him it was an English word. It seems she studies while riding the subway.

Seeing that the man was also reading something, he approached him to see what it was, and the man moved his phone closer to me, allowing me to read the title.

THE WORLD AFTER THE APOCALYPSE

It seemed that, after all, it was a fantasy novel.

It seems like the trip will be a bit longer than I expected; maybe I should close my eyes for a moment, although I have a bad feeling.

Before I could close my eyes, the subway began to shake.

Screams began.

"Will it be a terrorist attack?"

"What 's going on?!"

Some people in the crowd were saying.

-Ladies and gentlemen. Your attention, please.-

-P-please evacuate, evacuate!-

There was a dull thud, which implied that the driver had possibly died or the signal had been cut off, but I'm going with the first option.

A strange sound was heard, as if something were breaking spacetime.

--The free service for planetary system no. 8612 has ended–

--from now on, the main event will begin--

This sounds like a fairy tale, but a horror one.
