Chapter 126 - Chapter 126: Moving the Sacred

Chapter 126: Moving the Sacred

Marcus had asked Master Yuan.

Master Yuan had practiced spiritual work his entire life, but even he didn't know the answer to this question.

He didn't understand whether true divine forces existed.

Marcus felt that even entities like the Soul Collector and the Mother Buddha Deity probably couldn't answer this question; they were simply harmed by some inexplicable means.

But as long as it worked, that was enough.

He checked his methods again to make sure they were foolproof.

"Marcus, how can I help?"

Ronan Chen, knowing Marcus's plan, walked up to him and asked earnestly.

He had recently devoted all his energy to learning Master Yuan's techniques, and had read all of Master Yuan's books.

Marcus simply sent him a copy of the spiritual practice books he had obtained from the Soul Collector world.

"You stay with Master Yuan and guard Dodo and Little Angel. Here, take this. If anyone else comes, don't hesitate!"

Marcus handed Ronan Chen a small submachine gun, similar to an Uzi, with a 30-round magazine, and left five magazines for him.

"Master Yuan can handle the evil spirits, but if it's like last time, a human being controlled by an evil entity, then we'll have to rely on you. After all, he's getting old."

Ronan Chen didn't refuse the weapon in front of him.

After receiving the weapon, he felt more confident. Having experienced these strange events, he no longer cared about ordinary laws.

"Don't worry, Marcus, no matter how many people come, I guarantee they won't be able to get into the yard."

Marcus briefly taught Ronan Chen how to use the gun before going to rest and recuperate.

The next morning,

within a hundred-meter radius of the area that the deity had turned into a desolate place, birds were chirping again in the branches.

The withered grass was slowly regaining its vitality, and the distant mountains were faintly visible in the morning mist.

Marcus arrived at the temple, where Master Yuan was already prepared.

"These are holy waters, blessed papers, a protection mirror, and a ceremonial staff."

"You already know the effects of the water and papers. The mirror can illuminate the path ahead, preventing you from being deceived. The staff, once planted, can secure your retreat route, preventing it from being obscured."

Master Yuan handed the four items to Marcus; this was all he could offer.

He had originally intended to give Marcus the ceremonial blade as well, but Marcus refused. He still possessed the blessed sword from the previous world, which was no less powerful than Master Yuan's.

Then, Master Yuan burned offerings, lit incense, lit red candles, and bowed to the altar, saying,

"Today, I have prepared offerings, earnestly requesting divine aid to subdue the demons. I humbly beseech protection, that all dangers be averted along the way, and that upon our safe return, we will offer proper tribute!"

After bowing, Master Yuan saw that the candles did not flicker, so he lit three more incense sticks, circled the temple with them, and placed them again before the altar.

Then, Master Yuan, his wife, Marcus, and Ronan Chen waited quietly.

Until the three incense sticks lit later and the three incense sticks lit earlier burned out simultaneously.

"Divine permission has been granted, please bring the altar."

Master Yuan turned to look at Marcus.

They had already discussed that although the altar piece was only about five feet tall, it was not light, and it would take a lot of effort just to move it.

Furthermore, it's disrespectful to move it carelessly, and the base is difficult to reach.

However, Marcus assured him that this wasn't a problem, as he was very strong, and demonstrated it briefly, allaying Master Yuan's concerns. But everything still depended on the actual operation.

Marcus nodded and stepped forward.

He lifted the altar's base with both hands, using moderate effort; the piece, which would have required at least two strong men to lift steadily, was easily raised by him, and then held carefully.

The red cloth covering it remained firmly in place.

Marcus carried it out of the temple, to the car, placed the sacred altar in the passenger seat, and closed all the windows tightly to prevent the red cloth from being blown off by the wind.

He returned to the shrine next to the temple; the incense lit that morning had burned out.

"Today I'm going to find that evil entity that stole your territory. You'll come with me today."

Marcus reached into the shrine and took out the guardian statue, now completely restored.

Only then did he return to the car.

"If things don't go well, prioritize your own safety. We'll think of another way then,"

Master Yuan said, somewhat worried, adding that he could also go with Marcus and help out.

"Don't worry, Master Yuan, I'm not the type to act recklessly."

"Ronan, the safety of the compound is in your hands. If there are any more people like last time, don't hold back."

Marcus had already prepared a plan and methods for this operation. If he wasn't confident, he would rather leave the Mother Buddha Deity alone than take action.

"Don't worry, Marcus, I won't hold back."

Ronan Chen understood what Marcus meant and secretly made up his mind that if someone attacked, he would definitely aim for the opponent's center mass, not their legs.

Marcus waved his hand and drove all the way to the mountain road of the Hsu family's compound, the place where he had parked last time.

On the road ahead, there were the remains of two or three people and traces of explosions, with several small charred craters in the ground.

The torn pieces of cloth on the ground could be roughly identified as the clothing of the Hsu family members, which he had seen many of yesterday.

Further ahead, three corpses lay on the road, blown apart.

Judging from the tracks, even after their legs were maimed, the victims continued crawling in a straight line, showing no signs of retreating or dodging.

This caused them to trigger other butterfly mines, ultimately killing them.

Marcus guessed that these three people were likely members of the Hsu family, severely controlled by the Mother Buddha Deity.

The deity lured them to the compound, probably because she didn't understand how to repair Li Ronan's broken phone and transmit the footage.

So she wanted these three to go to the cave, take the camera out, and upload it online.

Only those who were controlled and lost their minds would continue forward recklessly even after being maimed.

There were too many butterfly mines ahead. Even though Marcus could distinguish the green butterfly mines from the grass, the vehicle couldn't move forward.

He stopped the car, took out his tactical armor, and put it on piece by piece.

At the same time, he took out a large ceremonial lamp, channeling his spiritual power. He formed a hand seal with his fingers.

The lamp ignited with a 'whoosh,' and Marcus put it into his storage. Inside hung blessed symbols, and the lamp was placed before them.

This was the safest place; the lamp wouldn't be extinguished by external force.

Next, Marcus took out the sacred altar, cradling it in his left arm, and simultaneously tucked the guardian statue into his gear.

He tossed several blessed papers into the area, lit a brazier, and burned offerings.

He scattered the papers on the ground, invoking protective power, before stepping onto the mountain path with ritualistic steps.
