Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Secrets of the Ancient Earth

After arranging the Genesis Chamber's gestation plan, Zod retrieved the box containing kryptonite from his room.

Upon opening it, he saw neatly arranged red, green, and gold kryptonite, which are the most common types of kryptonite on Krypton.

However, due to the suppression of Krypton's red sun, Kryptonians were unable to activate their innate talents, rendering these kryptonites useless, as they were basically treated as decorations.

But on Earth, they could become deadly weapons to punish Kryptonians.

Red kryptonite can affect the Kryptonian's mind, amplifying negative emotions deep within, but it requires continuous close contact, otherwise the effect will disappear immediately.

Green kryptonite, on the other hand, can cause Kryptonians to feel pain and weakness; prolonged exposure to green kryptonite can even lead to death.

Gold kryptonite can temporarily nullify all of a Kryptonian's abilities, though its duration is not long.

Zod reached into the box and took out a piece of green kryptonite, holding it in his hand; immediately, a green radiation stimulated his arm, causing veins to bulge.

At the same time, a sense of weakness came over him, and a biting pain appeared in his body, almost making him lose his balance.

He quickly put it down, then couldn't help but think to himself, "Indeed, this kryptonite is the Kryptonian's fatal weakness; if I don't find a way to overcome it, it will be a big problem in the future."

The next moment, a flash of inspiration struck him, realizing that he was not just a pure Kryptonian, but also a cultivator.

Immediately, he endured the weakness and pain, picked up the kryptonite again, and held it in his hand, then immediately forced himself to operate the True Sun Scripture; at this point, he found that the negative effects on his body began to recede rapidly.

However, when he stopped operating, all those negative effects immediately surged back.

"It seems that the power generated by operating the True Sun Scripture can perfectly counteract the radiation effects of green kryptonite."

"It's just that at my current level, I can't yet make this profound technique operate autonomously within my body. Perhaps when my cultivation becomes deeper or my mental power greatly improves, allowing me to multitask."

"At that time, not only will my cultivation speed improve, but a fatal threat will also be averted."

"However, this discovery is enough for me. Even if I face enemies who use kryptonite against me in the future, I won't be so affected that I have no power to resist."

In fact, for Kryptonians, as long as they absorb solar radiation for a long enough time, the effect of kryptonite on them will gradually weaken, or even completely disappear.

But to reach that level, the time required is too long!

"However, I have the True Sun Scripture, a cultivation method that can accelerate my absorption speed. Perhaps in a few decades, I will be able to completely eliminate this weakness."

Zod thought that his cultivation method was significantly faster than relying on his body's natural absorption, perhaps shortening this time by a large margin for him.

"So, I still need to cultivate diligently!"

Thinking of this, Zod put the kryptonite back and then headed straight for the sky again.

At this moment, within Themyscira, Diana had already returned.

She looked at her mother and asked, "Mother, what exactly happened?"

Queen Hippolyta spoke with a solemn expression, "Diana, there's something I should tell you!"

She hadn't told Diana these things before because she didn't want Diana to also bear this heavy mission.

But after her battle with Ares, and decades of living in human society, she knew that some destinies were already predetermined.

"Mother, what do you want to tell me?"

"Come with me!"

Subsequently, Queen Hippolyta led Diana to the heavily guarded forbidden area.

Diana was a little surprised; she had often wanted to enter this place to see, but each time she was stopped. She didn't expect her mother to bring her here this time!

"Queen!"

Seeing them, the guarding Amazonian warriors respectfully saluted and then allowed them to pass.

Walking through the dark corridor, they entered the interior of the forbidden area, and she curiously observed everything around her.

At this moment, she noticed ancient murals on the stone walls.

Hippolyta's voice timely sounded, "This records a great war. To fight against powerful enemies from the universe, all the powerful races in this world at that time formed an allied army and gathered together."

"Gods, Amazons, Atlanteans, humans, Lanterns, finally, under the divine power unleashed by the God of War Ares, we defeated him and drove his minions out of our world."

"However, this does not mean that our world is safe, because he left behind three mother boxes."

"Each mother box contains powerful energy. As long as the three mother boxes are united, the entire world will be destroyed, and that terrifying enemy will descend again to claim his spoils."

Listening to her mother's explanation, and combining it with the ancient carvings on the stone wall, Diana pretty much guessed the reason her mother called her back.

"Mother, did you call me back because those guys have made a comeback?"

A strong fighting spirit showed in Diana's eyes.

The blood of the Old Gods and Amazons flowed in her veins; she was a born Valkyrie, and battle only made her blood boil.

"It's not yet certain if they are the minions of that guy from ten thousand years ago. I called you back this time to ask you to investigate relevant information."

As she spoke, they had already arrived at the place where the mother box was stored, where dozens of Amazonian warriors stood ready, staring at a square iron box on a stone platform.

"Queen."

These Amazonian warriors immediately saluted upon seeing Hippolyta, clearing a path.

Diana curiously stared at the mother box for a moment, finding nothing special about it, and couldn't help but ask, "Mother, why not destroy it completely?"

Hearing this, the Queen smiled bitterly, "The gods once tried, but all failed. The mother box remained unharmed, so it had to be separated and protected."

"Then where are the other two mother boxes?"

"As far as I know, one is in the sea, guarded by the Atlanteans, and the other was entrusted to humans for safekeeping, but its whereabouts are now unknown."

They didn't know at this time that the third mother box had long fallen into the hands of the U.S. government, and a superhero would later be born from it.

"Mother, I will definitely find a way to quickly investigate the identities and motives of those people."

After learning these ancient secrets, Diana also understood how important this matter was, and she decided to return immediately and investigate everything thoroughly.

Before she left, Queen Hippolyta said to her, "I have a gift for you."

As her voice fell, an Amazonian warrior immediately walked towards them, holding a divine sword, then knelt on one knee and handed the sword to Diana.

Taking the sword, Diana asked with some surprise, "Mother, is this...?"

"Its name is the Sword of Athena. I know your Sword of Hephaestus was shattered in the battle with Ares. This is a sword I commissioned the best craftsmen to reforge for you with the finest materials. See if it feels right."

Hearing this, Diana casually swung it a few times, feeling as if the sword was born for her, and holding it in her hand gave her a sense of blood connection.

"It feels amazing, Mother!"

Diana was very excited; for a warrior, a weapon that suits them is a great help.

Then, under everyone's gaze, Diana left Themyscira and returned to the human world.
