Chapter 170 - Chapter 170: The Tailed Beast Bomb

Chapter 170: The Tailed Beast Bomb

The three massive white tails of the Five-Tails Jinchuriki, Gōki, rose towards the grey sky, intertwining and overlapping at their tips. From the point of convergence, two distinct streams of Tailed Beast chakra—one a deep, abyssal black, the other a violent, electric blue—began to coalesce. They spiraled together, compressing, condensing, the sphere of energy growing denser and darker with each passing second.

"That chakra… the precision of its compression…" Orochimaru's face was unusually solemn, a sheen of cold sweat on his pale features. "If that is released, its destructive force will rival any S-rank forbidden technique. Perhaps exceed it."

The sheer volume of chakra being concentrated was inhuman. It was a scale of power that belonged to natural disasters, not mortal shinobi.

"It's aimed directly at us," Tsunade observed, her jaw tight. "If we dodge, the entire Konoha battle line behind us will be obliterated. They won't be able to escape it."

"Then what do we do?" Jiraiya's voice was sharp with urgency.

"Interrupt him. Now."

Orochimaru didn't hesitate. Both arms shot forward, sleeves disgorging a torrent of sleek black serpents. But these snakes were different—each held a gleaming, chakra-coated short sword in its jaws.

"Ninpō: Gyūin Ken!" (Ninja Art: Swallowing Serpent Blade Technique!)

This was Orochimaru's own creation, a secret technique born from studying the white snakes of Ryūchi Cave. It did not rely on the seven elemental natures.

"Seriously, does it have to be more snakes?" Tsunade muttered, despite herself.

Gōki's dull eyes didn't even flicker towards the incoming serpentine assault. From behind him, a fourth tail suddenly manifested, lashing out like a monstrous iron whip.

CRACK—BOOM!

The tail swept through the air with a thunderous detonation, pure concussive force preceding the impact. It met the wave of sword-wielding snakes mid-flight. They didn't stand a chance. The powerful appendage crushed them into paste, scattering shredded serpent flesh across the mud. Some simply exploded into crimson mist from the sheer shockwave.

A simple, casual sweep. And it had obliterated a jonin-level technique. One direct hit from such a tail would shatter bones and pulverize organs.

"Orochimaru, your fancy tricks aren't working!" Jiraiya shouted.

"My turn!"

"Heavenly Foot of God!"

Tsunade was already in motion, using Shave to appear directly beside the Jinchuriki. Her leg, reinforced by the Strength of a Hundred, descended like an iron executioner's blade—a kick that could shatter mountains.

One of the Five-Tails' massive tails moved. It wasn't even a conscious counterattack; it was automatic defense. The tail interposed itself between Tsunade's kick and Gōki's body, absorbing the blow's full force. The impact was tremendous, but the tail barely flinched. Instead, it flexed, and the recoil sent Tsunade flying backwards, tumbling through the air before she righted herself and landed hard.

Tsunade's eyes widened. That power… even my strength can't budge it.

She looked up. The Tailed Beast Bomb was almost complete. It hung in the air before Gōki like a malignant star—a sphere of such profound darkness that it seemed to drink the surrounding light, edged with a throbbing, ominous blue. The very air warped around it, drawn into its gravitational well. The pressure it radiated was suffocating.

"Damnit… it's too late!" Tsunade breathed.

Gōki's expression was vacant, mechanical. He was no longer a man; he was a weapon executing its programming. This was the fate of a Jinchuriki—to be stripped of humanity, to become a tool of destruction, to be feared and isolated until death finally granted a release the world never would.

FWOOOOSH!

The Tailed Beast Bomb shot forward.

It didn't roar. It screamed—a tearing, shrieking sound as it punched through the air, leaving a vortex of white vapor in its wake. This was the humanoid form of the technique, smaller and less catastrophic than a full Tailed Beast's version. But even so, its power was absolute. Any shinobi below Kage-level facing it would simply cease to exist. It could annihilate a small town. Perhaps a large one.

"Earth Release: Multiple Earth-Style Walls!"

Jiraiya slammed his palms to the ground. Layer upon layer of dense, rock-hard earthen walls erupted from the mud, stacking and thickening with desperate speed. A dozen barriers, each meters thick, rose in the Tailed Beast Bomb's path.

They were the commanders. They could not retreat. If they ran, the war was lost.

Behind them, Nōhei watched with a savage, eager grin. Yes! The Tailed Beast Bomb! He remembered, as a young shinobi, witnessing a Tailed Beast rampage. Half the village had been reduced to rubble by a single blast like this. Only the Second Tsuchikage's Dust Release—a kekkei tōta, a power beyond bloodline limits—had been able to neutralize it. Not every village had a Hashirama Senju to simply slap Tailed Beasts into submission. Not every village had the Uzumaki's sealing arts to cage them. They needed their own ultimate weapons, their own sacrifices. That was what Jinchuriki were for.

The Third Kazekage watched, his expression complex. Suna, too, had a Tailed Beast. But they could not control it. They could not harness its power. If they could… perhaps their village would not be the perennial weakest among the Five Great Nations. But Jinchuriki creation was a brutal, secretive art, perfected through countless failures and sacrifices. No village shared those secrets.

CRASH! THOOM! BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The Tailed Beast Bomb tore through Jiraiya's earth walls like they were paper. Each layer exploded into gravel and dust, offering no more resistance than a cobweb.

"TRIPLE RASHAWOMON!"

Orochimaru's hands flew through seals. His face was pale, chakra reserves plummeting. This was the First Hokage's legendary summoning, though he could only manage three gates where Hashirama had summoned five.

BANG! BANG! BANG!

Three colossal, demonic gates erupted from the earth, blocking the Tailed Beast Bomb's path. Each gate was a nightmare of twisted iron and ancient wood—one black, one red, one cyan—with fanged, snarling faces carved into their surfaces. They were designed to withstand cataclysmic forces.

BOOM! The first gate shattered.

CRACK! The second gate held for a heartbeat, then fractured.

The Tailed Beast Bomb, its momentum finally spent after piercing earth walls and two Rashomon gates, dissipated against the third gate's surface with a final, ear-splitting detonation.

Silence.

Then, Jiraiya slumped to the ground, gasping. "We… we made it…"

"Orochimaru! Are you alright?" Tsunade rushed to his side. His face was ashen, slick with sweat.

"I am… fine," Orochimaru panted, though his voice was thin. "Summoning Rashomon is… costly."

Relief flickered across their faces. The immediate crisis had passed.

Gōki's dull eyes watched them.

The three white tails behind him began to intertwine once more.

A new Tailed Beast Bomb began to condense.

For a Tailed Beast, chakra was not a finite resource. It was their native element. Tailed Beast Bombs were not singular trump cards; they were basic artillery. Why release one, when you could release a dozen?

The sphere of black and blue light began to swell again.

And this time, there were no more Rashomon gates to spare.
