Chapter 61 - CHAPTER 61: BLOODLINES AND HEARTBEATS

KISS'S POV

I didn't know war could feel so quiet.

Not the kind with guns and explosions—but the kind that settled deep in the chest, heavy and suffocating, waiting for a single truth to be spoken.

I was sitting on the couch in Adrian's private study when the tension finally snapped.

Adrian stood in front of his father.

Two men bound by blood.

Two men divided by history.

"You attacked Switzerland," Adrian said, his voice dangerously calm. "Without telling me."

His father didn't flinch. He simply poured himself a drink, as if they were discussing weather.

"They moved first," his father replied. "I responded."

Adrian laughed—once. Dry. Hollow.

"You responded by reigniting a war that should've ended decades ago?"

Silence.

Then Adrian stepped closer.

"You attacked her family."

That did it.

The glass slipped from his father's hand, shattering against the marble floor.

"…What?" he breathed.

Adrian's jaw tightened.

"Kiss," he said slowly. "Is Elizabeth Wilson's daughter."

The room froze.

His father's face drained of color.

"No," he whispered. "That's impossible."

"She didn't come here to spy," Adrian continued. "She came to see her daughter. To protect her. And you nearly destroyed everything."

His father sank into the chair behind him.

"So… she came for her," he murmured. "Not revenge."

Adrian's eyes burned.

"She came as a mother."

A long silence followed—thick, heavy, full of regret.

Finally, his father exhaled.

"I will end the war," he said quietly. "Once and for all."

Adrian stiffened.

"But," his father added, lifting his gaze, "I won't apologize. I won't write letters. Silence is the only peace I can give them."

Adrian held his stare for a long moment… then nodded.

"That will be enough," he said. "For now."

Peace returned slowly.

Like cautious sunlight after a storm.

And then came the hospital day.

The day my heart nearly stopped.

KISS'S POV

The waiting room smelled like antiseptic and nerves.

I sat beside Adrian, his hand gripping mine tighter than usual. Isaac paced back and forth like a caged animal, while Augustina sat quietly, one hand on her stomach, eyes closed in prayer.

"This is taking too long," Isaac muttered.

"You said that five minutes ago," Adrian replied, though his own leg was bouncing.

I swallowed.

My chest felt tight.

"What if something's wrong?" I whispered.

Adrian turned to me instantly.

"Don't," he said softly. "Don't think that."

"But—"

He lifted my hand and pressed it to his chest.

"I'm here," he said. "They're here. We're fine."

The door opened.

The doctor stepped out, smiling.

Isaac nearly tackled him.

"So?" Isaac demanded. "Just say it."

The doctor chuckled. "Relax. Everyone's healthy."

A collective breath was released.

Then he turned to Augustina.

"And congratulations," he added. "You're having a baby girl."

Augustina gasped.

Isaac froze.

"A… a girl?" he repeated.

She laughed and cried at the same time as Isaac pulled her into his arms.

Then the doctor turned to me.

"And you, Mrs. Goodwill—"

Adrian stiffened beside me.

"Yes?" I whispered.

The doctor's smile widened.

"Well… this is interesting."

Adrian's grip tightened.

"Interesting how?" he asked sharply.

The doctor held up the scan.

"Congratulations," he said. "You're having twins."

The room went silent.

"…Twins?" Adrian echoed.

"One boy," the doctor continued, "and one girl."

Adrian stared at the screen like it was unreal.

Two heartbeats.

Two lives.

Two futures.

"I'm… I'm having—" he swallowed hard. "Two?"

I laughed through tears.

"Yes," I said. "You're having two."

Isaac burst out laughing.

"Ha! Karma!" he teased. "You get double trouble!"

Adrian sank into the chair, hands on his head.

"God," he whispered. "I'm going to faint."

I leaned closer.

"You okay?" I teased gently.

He looked at me, eyes glossy.

"I'm terrified," he admitted. "And happier than I've ever been."

LIZA

Elizabeth Wilson stood on the balcony, phone pressed to her ear.

"…Twins?" she whispered, eyes filling. "My baby's having twins."

Her mother smiled gently.

"You'll be a grandmother twice over."

Elizabeth laughed softly, wiping her tears.

"I almost made it," she murmured. "I was so close."

A guard approached urgently.

"Ma'am. The attack—"

Her face hardened instantly.

"Prepare the defenses," she said coldly. "I'm not losing my clan tonight."

She glanced at the photo on her phone—Kiss smiling beside Adrian.

"Hold on a little longer, my love," she whispered. "Mama is coming."

KISS'S POV

That night, Adrian knelt in front of me, resting his head against my stomach.

"Two," he whispered. "I already love them."

I smiled, threading my fingers through his hair.

"They're lucky," I said. "They have you."

He looked up.

"No," he said. "I'm the lucky one."

Outside, the world was still dangerous.

Still unpredictable.

But inside that room—

We had each other.

And two tiny heartbeats proving that love could grow even from bloodstained soil.
