Chapter 2 - Chapter 2 – The noble king really doesn't care

[ King Charles Vinehaven POV ]

Early in the morning, I had just awakened, not even fully dressed, when a man rushed through my bedroom door.

"My king, the queen is almost here."

'Ugh, the queen so early in the morning, and I have to deal with that woman.'

Normally, anyone barging into my room this early in the morning might get a good beating, but there are a few exceptions, and those were war, revolt, and alerting me about that woman.

If I could've, I wouldn't have married her, let alone made her queen. Sadly, customs force the marriage, and then politics made me make her queen.

Marriage was forced because of her main soul skill, 'Perfect Mother', which almost completely destroys the chance of the kids having birth defects even if the two parents were direct blood relatives. People with the "Perfect mother" skill were always sought after by royalty to make sure the bloodline stayed strong.

Her second skill, 'Touch of Gaia' while incredibly useful when added together with 'Perfect Mother' made her look like the ultimate mother and queen to the country. Touch of Gaia can breathe life back into a devastated lands. At least this skill gives me a reason to send her away, but still, she always comes back.

Even with her so-called 'Perfect Mother' soul skill, I only got two pains in the ass and one piece that I'm not even 100 percent can be used yet.

Before I could keep thinking, my train of thought was broken.

"Your majesty?"

"Oh, yes, how far away is she?"

"About 1hour and a half."

I couldn't help but start rubbing my temples.

"She must have come back for our retarded son's soul awakening, that's in a few days."

I got out of bed, doing my best not to wake Victoria. I need to get ready for her return and look for a way to send her away again.

Over the years, while she mostly spent time with our kids when she was back, even a moment with her felt like torture.

A little more than 2 hours later.

"Now Enter Queen Lilly."

Entering the room was a beautiful, mature woman. She had blue eyes as deep as the sea and light as the sky. He hair is dark black, covering her shoulders. Just as her soul skill "Perfect Mother" she had a genuine motherly charm in her blue dress.

"Welcome back, my dear queen, how is healing the cursed lands?"

The cursed lands were a great reason to keep her away. The land was incredibly massive, taking up almost 1/6 of the entire country. With a mix of natural disasters and the cursed lands, the time I've had to spend time with her over the last 6 years has greatly decreased. With her nature,e even when she returns, it's mostly to spend time with her kids.

"Good, very good, I've healed about 80 percent of it."

'Shit, it might only keep her away for another year or so.'

"That is great to hear."

I am not entirely sure why I first started to hate this woman. She was definitely cunning, but I only saw it after I started to hate her. Besides the kingly duties that meant I had to meet her in bed a few times, I just don't like her. Maybe it is because she killed my hope for a simple life, Victoria, or at least the simplest life a king could wish for.

While I was definitely Happy when she gave birth to our first child, Lilith. Just around a year later, when my first son Dolus was born, the spark of hate grew and turned into almost disgust.

Suddenly, one of the king's underlings rushed into the room.

"Your majesty, there has been a massive fire in the medical fields in the west."

I could do nothing but think, "Your acting is perfect."

There was no real emergency; in fact, it was set on fire to make sure the infection from the plants did not spread.

To make sure everything looked as real as possible, I had him jog in place right outside the door to make sure his face was red and his breath ragged to give off a feeling of sudden emergency.

When she quickly agreed to head out, I felt nothing but pure bliss.

Over the years, I used to have long conversations to make her leave now it's only a few sentences.

[Queen LIlly Marcbrook POV ]

This man must think I am really stupid. After years of him trying to keep me out of the castle, he would be extremely surprised to know how little it actually worked.

While my soul skills may have forced my fate to be linked to his, it came with some incredibly hidden benefits. Besides the old king being too desperate to have me as part of the royal family, I could even keep my adopted father's last name. I also gained followers from a secret organization that has always followed those with the "Touch of Gaia" skill.

With one follower with a movement-type soul skill, I could see my children almost any time I wanted.

Even when he suddenly decided to perform Grace's Soul awakening early, I was still there like hell I'll miss Alec's.

His face and actions were practically leaking desperation. I gave him a clearly fake face of disappointment and agreed to head out.

Just as I left the room, I found out my father was seriously ill and really couldn't make it.

Dam it, at least I will make sure it is recorded.

[ King Charles Vinehaven POV ]

A few days later.

The day of my youngest son, Alec's soul awakening has come.

I made a simple wish for it to be soon shattered:" Please, at least don't become completely useless."

He Fucking awakening a skill that with make him even dumber than he already is.

Any skill with "Uneducated" either makes them basically a vegetable or insane. The only use you could be used for is to marry into the Winter family, and now he can't even do that.

That very evening, Dolus came to me.

"Father, what do you plan to do with Alec?"

"I don't know, but I can't have him marry into the Winter family anymore."

"Father, I have an idea."

Author's note: I'm going to start adding a mix of both import and almost useless author's notes at the end of each chapter to enhance the world-building and background info.
