Chapter 77 - Pikachu’s Magnetic Multiverse Journey! [77]

Powerful, walks on two legs, understands human speech… Team Rocket had never encountered such an extraordinary Pokémon. Well, aside from Meowth—but Meowth barely deserved the name Pokémon, given his pitiful strength.

However, a certain famous figure once said: "Life's greatest fear is lacking direction." Fortunately, Team Rocket had a clear direction: climb the ranks, make money, and graduate from exploited workers to top brass.

To achieve their grand vision, they'd resort to every underhanded trick imaginable. If fooling a Pikachu could advance their career, they'd fool it in a heartbeat.

"So, what do you say? I'm Jessie, the blue-haired guy there is James, and this is Meowth. We're different species, sure, but we've forged a deep friendship—we travel together, work together, eat together…" Jessie continued her sentimental pitch.

Those names! Ray Chu suddenly clapped his paws together, finally remembering.

Team Rocket, two humans and a talking Meowth… they're those pathetic goons who kept failing miserably to steal Ash's Pikachu!

He gave the trio a deeply disdainful look.

"Wha—what's with that look?"

"We're being judged…by a Pokémon!"

"I don't even know why, but this feels humiliating, meow!"

Ray Chu raised another signboard: [Get lost, or I'll beat you up!] Unlike Ash, Ray Chu firmly believed in "persuasion by force"—and his "persuasion" usually worked wonders.

"How dare you underestimate us! Go, Koffing!"

"You too, Arbok!"

With negotiations (temptations) failing spectacularly and being openly scorned, Jessie and James angrily hurled their Poké Balls. With two pops, their Pokémon emerged—a Koffing and an Arbok.

Yet, the moment the fierce-looking, evolved Arbok caught sight of Ray Chu, it recoiled in shock, desperately slithering backward.

"Arbok, what are you doing!" Jessie yelled, uselessly tugging on its tail and leaving a human-shaped skid mark behind.

James and Meowth watched Jessie and Arbok's struggle unfold, a bead of sweat rolling down their foreheads. "Forget them! Koffing, use [POISON GAS]!"

Grinning mischievously, Koffing's skull emblem contracted as it spewed poisonous fumes toward Ray Chu.

"I'll help too, meow! [FURY SWIPES]!" Meowth jumped forward, claws bared.

Ray Chu inhaled deeply, then blew out a hurricane-force gust without even using a skill, sending the poisonous cloud flying back along with the airborne Meowth.

"Meow, meooow—!" Meowth slammed into James, claws first, and together they tumbled to the ground, choking on Koffing's poison fumes and wrestling helplessly in confusion.

"Useless morons…" Jessie had finally calmed Arbok down. She pointed furiously at Ray Chu, who stood there yawning. "Snakes are the natural enemies of mice! Arbok, use [WRAP] and then [GLARE]!"

Arbok hissed and lunged forward—immediately wrapping Jessie tightly instead.

"Not me, you idiot…!"

Before Jessie could finish screaming, Arbok's hood patterns flared ominously, plunging her into a waking nightmare.

"Aaaaaah! Nooo, wahhh…!"

Jessie sobbed and wailed, trapped in her own imaginary hellscape. James and Meowth stared blankly, utterly baffled. Losing a battle was understandable, but they'd never seen a Pokémon attack its own trainer before.

With an utterly indifferent look, Ray Chu casually walked upright toward Arbok. Under James and Meowth's terrified gazes, he poked Arbok lightly with a paw. Instantly, Arbok released Jessie and lowered its head submissively, letting Ray Chu pat it comfortably.

"They… they know each other!" James and Meowth finally realized their mistake, exchanging stunned glances. They'd essentially used Arbok against its old friend—no wonder this had happened.

Indeed, this Arbok was the same Pokémon Ray Chu had met in the forest not long ago. Somehow, Team Rocket had captured it and made it theirs.

"A…Arbok…!" Jessie finally awoke from her nightmare, only to witness this heartbreaking scene.

She had captured Arbok through pure luck and compatibility—normally, her skill wouldn't let her tame a second-stage Pokémon like this.

"Don't worry, Jessie! We'll help you get Arbok back. Koffing, [SLUDGE]!"

James desperately separated from Meowth and waved his hand. Koffing immediately sprayed a barrage of filthy sludge toward Ray Chu.

Ray Chu snapped his fingers. The sludge halted midair, reflected by an invisible force, and completely covered Koffing, James, and Meowth instead, leaving them poisoned and sprawled helplessly.

"Koff…koffing…"

"What kind of move is this!?"

"So gross, meow!"

'Looks like you've found yourself some good partners,' Ray Chu conveyed telepathically to Arbok. After a brief hesitation, Arbok nodded its massive head and slithered back to Jessie's side.

'I won't beat you up out of respect for Arbok, but…' Ray Chu's voice vibrated through Aura, giving him an eerie, commanding presence. He narrowed his deadpan eyes. 'You've wasted my precious time. How are you going to compensate me?'

"It…it spoke!"

"Scary, meow!"

Team Rocket huddled together, shivering uncontrollably. In their eyes, this small Pikachu now looked like a towering demon lord.

...

A few moments later, Team Rocket stared miserably at their emptied wallets and confiscated Poké Balls, feeling their lives sink into utter despair.

"We didn't get blasted off this time…"

"But all our living expenses and pocket money are gone…"

"This poverty hurts so bad, meow!"

Ignoring their wails, Ray Chu weighed his newly acquired Poké Balls cheerfully. He walked up to a Bulbasaur nearby. Finding a Starter Pokémon in the wild—his luck was truly outstanding.

Bulbasaur eyed the grinning yellow mouse suspiciously, as if encountering a strange uncle offering candy.

"Saur, Bulba!" Facing Ray Chu's forceful approach, Bulbasaur unleashed Sleep Powder, immediately followed by a Tackle.

A second later, it bounced off an invisible barrier and floated helplessly into the air, limbs flailing.

"If you follow me, you'll become strong—just like me. Right now, you're far too weak." Ray Chu's intentions effortlessly reached Bulbasaur through Pokémon's innate communication.

Bulbasaur stared, bewildered. Elders of its tribe had spoken of trainers—humans who captured Pokémon, training them, evolving them, making them strong. Could this mouse-like creature actually be a human? Yet, it looked exactly like any other Pikachu from the forest!

"No objections? Then I'll assume you agree!" Ray Chu's eyes sparkled. Before Bulbasaur could respond, a Poké Ball flashed out, drawing it inside instantly.

"Pika! Pika Pikachu! (I caught a Bulbasaur!)"
