Chapter 23 - Pikachu’s Magnetic Multiverse Journey! [23]

"Haa! [THUNDER SHOCK SURPRISE]!"

Jackie Chun thrust out his palm fiercely, unleashing a massive, visible palm-shaped wave of energy. Ray Chu quickly leaped away, narrowly dodging as the huge energy hand smashed into the wall behind him, completely shattering it.

The audience erupted in shock. Ray Chu's expression also turned serious.

Jackie Chun followed up immediately, unleashing two more palms that surged toward Ray Chu from both sides. Ray Chu continuously dodged around the stage, barely avoiding each strike.

However, the constant evasion left no room for error. The two giant palms suddenly curved in mid-air and, at Jackie Chun's command, swiftly clapped together, leaving Ray Chu nowhere to escape.

BOOM!

An enormous explosion echoed through the ring. The two giant hands trapped Ray Chu tightly between them before rapidly soaring upward into the sky.

Even if Ray Chu escaped the hands, he'd fall from high in the air and land outside the arena, thus losing the match.

"Is it over already?!"

No, it wasn't!

Ray Chu's two short arms extended, struggling to hold back the massive palms with sheer psychic power, transparent ripples spreading from where his claws touched the energy.

"This is... psychic power!" Goku and Krillin shouted simultaneously, exchanging a glance.

About a year ago, Ray Chu had wished to Shenron and acquired psychic abilities. Since he rarely used them openly, everyone had nearly forgotten about this hidden talent.

Privately, Ray Chu had quietly trained these powers. Thanks to his former teacher (Hanako-san (.・`ω´・)/), he possessed considerable knowledge of Psychic-type abilities.

Finally, during this final match of the World Martial Arts Tournament, Ray Chu revealed his hidden trump card, astonishing everyone.

With a loud "Pika!" Ray Chu roared, shattering the energy palms like breaking glass, scattering fragments everywhere.

"Yay! Amazing!"

"Unbelievable! At the critical moment, Ray Chu-san unleashed psychic powers previously unseen, shattering Jackie Chun-san's ultimate move! Spectacular! This fight is full of surprises—standing here as the announcer is the honor of a lifetime, sob sob!"

Ignoring the announcer, who was sobbing with excitement, Jackie Chun stared open-mouthed, dumbfounded, at Ray Chu floating in mid-air.

No way…am I actually going to lose? Jackie Chun panicked internally. I was here to teach my disciples humility. Surely, I won't end up losing to one of them?!

He gulped nervously. Time to put my life on the line!

Facing Ray Chu, who had displayed his psychic prowess, Jackie Chun called upon decades of accumulated ki, his legs sinking deep into the ground as fiery aura visibly wrapped around him.

"[THUNDER SHOCK SURPRiSE—RAPID FIRE MODE]!"

Jackie Chun repeatedly thrust out his palms, sending energy hands like missiles into the air, filling the sky with countless palm strikes.

LIGHT SCREEN!

Ray Chu spread his arms, quickly forming multiple Light Screens to block the assault. Palm strikes crashed into the screens, causing deafening explosions.

Each impact shattered the screens one by one, exhausting both fighters. Ray Chu's fur became soaked in sweat, eyes losing their initial sharpness.

"It's over!" Veins bulged on Jackie Chun's forehead and body as he raised his right hand skyward, clenching it tightly. The swarm of palm strikes merged into one massive, nearly tangible hand, instantly crushing Ray Chu's psychic shield and grasping him tightly.

"Is it really over this time?" Everyone held their breath.

Pfffft!

Suddenly, a deflating sound echoed across the arena. Cracks appeared on the giant palm, rapidly expanding until it exploded into shards.

From within the shattered palm emerged a figure wrapped in blinding electricity—Ray Chu!

"PIKA!"

With a loud cry, Ray Chu's electric pouches on both cheeks sparked violently, forming a sphere of electricity before launching it directly at Jackie Chun.

THUNDERBOLT!

Facing Ray Chu's ultimate attack, Jackie Chun's hair and beard stood on end. He threw both fists forward, clashing against the electric sphere. A blinding flash of white light consumed everything.

As the light faded, everyone looked to the arena again. Jackie Chun stood straight, smoking slightly. Ray Chu gently descended from the sky.

"You did well, kid," Jackie Chun nodded at Ray Chu, placing his hands behind his back. Calmly, he stepped to the edge of the stage and lightly jumped off.

"Unbelievable! Jackie Chun willingly stepped off the stage, forfeiting the match! Thank you, Jackie Chun, for an extraordinary battle! But now—let's cheer for our champion of the 28th World Martial Arts Tournament, Ray Chu-san!"

The announcer passionately declared the result. Fireworks exploded overhead, and the crowd erupted into cheers.

Goku and Krillin immediately rushed onto the stage, joyfully embracing Ray Chu. "Amazing! We won!"

Ray Chu made a victory gesture. Looking past the cheering crowd toward Jackie Chun's retreating figure, he smiled softly.

Whew… if I hadn't forfeited right then, I wouldn't even have the strength to stand, Jackie Chun thought, slipping away from the cheering crowd and quickly changing back into his hidden clothes.

Master Roshi listened to the crowd's distant cheers, reflecting silently, What gifted kids. I knew they'd surpass me someday—but I didn't think it would be this soon.

By the time Master Roshi casually returned, Krillin was eagerly pulling Ray Chu forward, calling out, "Master Roshi! Ray Chu won! He's the champion!"

Master Roshi coughed awkwardly. "Ahem, I saw it. But don't get cocky! Remember, there's always someone stronger out there, and many strong fighters didn't participate this time."

"There are even stronger fighters?" Goku asked excitedly.

Master Roshi became serious. "You know our school is the Turtle School, correct?"

Everyone nodded.

"Well, besides Turtle School, I have a martial brother—the Crane Hermit. He founded the Crane School, and I hear he's taken in two powerful disciples. If you ever run into them, you must be careful. Crane Hermit is a thoroughly wicked man."

Goku and Krillin looked startled but immediately grew more excited. "Wow! There are even more strong opponents—we can't wait!"

Master Roshi hadn't expected his serious warning would backfire. Yet, despite the success, none of his disciples seemed arrogant, and that made him deeply satisfied.

"Alright! Enough standing around! The tournament's over, so let's have a huge meal to celebrate!" Bulma interrupted, approaching with the rest of the gang. Her suggestion drew enthusiastic cheers.

Ray Chu raised a sign: [Dinner's on me.]

Winning the tournament had earned him a 500,000-zeni prize, perfect for treating everyone.

Unfortunately, due to Goku's superhuman appetite, Ray Chu ended up spending the entire 500,000 zeni on just that one meal…

[WON THE WORLD MARTIAL ARTS TOURNAMENT, LEVEL INCREASED +1]

[CURRENT LEVEL: 22]

---

T/N: hmmmm idk how the levels work... it seemed like he was slightly stronger than Master Roshi who without using his transformation skill has a power around 180... Though Kamehameha increases that hmmmm I'll put his power at around 220-250 range yesyes, though im pretty sure the level increases exponentially and not linearly since i think if he was at lvl 5 vs Kid Goku before Bulma he'd get beat...

...

im back, did a poll on my patreon on the new schedule and releases for webnovel so yeah
