Inside a closed conference room, a storm of disbelief:
"Damn it! I knew it! These monsters with alien genes in their bodies are truly unbelievable! They are humanity's greatest problem!"
Panic, anger, suspicion... In an instant, all the negative emotions erupted in the sealed meeting room. For these top-level authorities, mutants and humans had long been deemed irreconcilable races. At that moment, when the mutants appeared on the battlefield, the only possibility they could imagine was a betrayal—a knife in humanity's back!
But surprisingly, the anticipated scenario of mutants attacking humans while the Chitauri attacked from both sides did not occur. Instead, thousands of mutants hovered in the sky, and after a brief assembly, they charged straight at the overwhelming alien warships without hesitation!
A fierce battle erupted!
The entire conference room fell into a strange, dead silence. The directors were like ducks with something stuck in their throats, mouths agape, unable to utter a sound. Their eyes, fixed on the screen, shifted from fear and anger to stupefaction, and finally to utter disbelief—frozen.
Shock! What were they witnessing?
A silver-haired woman merely waved her hand and summoned a cosmic storm brighter than a nuclear explosion, instantly vaporizing a vast array of alien fighter jets!
A red-haired woman casually grasped at the air, and hundreds of alien soldiers and their craft were crushed into dense lumps of metal, then utterly destroyed!
A man in a red helmet floated regally in the sky. With a sweep of his arms, nearly all alien technological weapons lost control, self-destructed, or were paralyzed!
Every director in the room felt their minds in chaos. Someone involuntarily gasped, the "hiss" sound echoing distinctly in the quiet room.
What… these mutants… are actually fighting against the aliens?!
"And their powers… are actually that strong?"
One director's voice was hoarse from shock, muttering to himself.
"How is this possible? Am I seeing things?"
His words echoed the hearts of everyone present.
The hawkish general, usually arrogant and disdainful, was now replaced by confusion and fear.
"We've dealt with mutants many times! According to our database, the registered mutants aren't nearly this powerful! If they had such destructive power all along, how could we humans have suppressed them for so many years?"
This question struck the directors like a heavy hammer.
Yes, if mutants had always wielded godlike power, then decades of human encirclement, oppression, even discrimination, would be nothing but a joke. Like a colony of ants boasting they had 'suppressed' an elephant.
The directors exchanged glances, confusion and fear written plainly on their faces.
The chairman in the seat of honor was also swept by a storm of emotions, but he thought deeper than the others. His gaze was fixed on Jean Grey, Magneto in the footage, and the unmoving but clearly central figure of all mutants—Charles Xavier.
Except for the unfamiliar young girl, he recognized the other two. But what they now displayed was no longer simple destructive power, but rather abilities that transcended physical laws—powers at the level of rules themselves!
A terrifying thought swelled in his heart: Had these mutants never used their full power in any previous conflict with humanity? Had they been "restraining" and "camouflaging" themselves all this time? Was it only when facing a true alien threat that their real, fearsome strength was revealed?
No! That can't be! He questioned himself: If he had the power to defy the heavens, would he have held back in the face of an existential crisis? No, the mutants didn't even know what they were truly capable of!
But at this moment, these mutants were indeed fighting for Earth.
He glanced around at his shell-shocked colleagues, took a deep breath, and spoke in an unprecedentedly dry tone.
"Everyone…"
All eyes turned to him.
"We… we don't know what's happening with these mutants… but for now, it seems…"
"Maybe… for now, we shouldn't consider… launching nuclear weapons."
"What do you all think?"
As soon as he finished, a wave of relief swept through the room.
"Agreed! Absolutely agree!"
"Yes, Chairman, please hold off for now!"
"Until the situation is clear, we must not act rashly!"
Those directors who had been clamoring for an immediate nuclear strike all nodded, their sudden change in attitude remarkable.
Who would dare even mention nukes now? To bomb an "ally force" helping Earth fight the aliens, when their power was immeasurable—and their temper seemed not the best? What if, after finishing off the aliens, they turned around and settled accounts with humanity?
A female director sighed with complicated emotions as she watched the scene.
"I really… didn't expect this…"
Her voice carried a hint of a sob:
"When the Earth is in crisis, and we humans are powerless, it is these mutants—those we've misunderstood and rejected—who stand up for us."
"Maybe…" She looked around the room, "We really did blame them wrongly."
Her words silenced every director present. No one rebutted; instead, they bowed their heads slightly, looking awkward.
It was clear they all harbored the same thoughts. Compared to absolute protection and the willingness to sacrifice for life and death, old prejudices and arrogance now seemed so pale, so laughable.
…
On the battlefield in New York, the situation had changed dramatically due to the powerful intervention of the mutants.
The Chitauri army, once unstoppable and spreading like the Black Death, was suddenly suppressed by these godlike warriors who had descended from the sky.
The alliance of Magneto and Charles Xavier dealt both physical and psychological devastation to the Chitauri command system. The chaos of the initial defeat was replaced by a strange stalemate—but everyone knew this balance was fragile. The dark blue wormhole, like the mouth of hell, was still spewing forth new soldiers.
Right at this moment—
"Buzz—"
Suddenly, two figures appeared right before the massive wormhole!
One was a gigantic, powerfully built giant, his emerald green body and mountainous muscles rippling all over—the Hulk!
He appeared directly at the wormhole's exit!
"ROAR—"
A Leviathan, halfway through the wormhole and not yet adapted to the new world, saw this figure ahead. Sensing a "bug" somewhat stronger than the others, it roared with contempt and tyranny, opening its bloody maw wide enough to swallow a building—intending to devour the Hulk alive!
But Hulk only stared coldly, a mocking smile twisting his lips.
"Big guy," he muttered in a deep, clear voice, "let me teach you a lesson!"
As soon as he finished, his massive leg kicked the void, and he shot out of the room like a green cannonball, charging headlong to confront the Leviathan beast.
His fist, larger than a sandbag, clenched tight; his arm muscles swelled, green veins bulged, as if infinite power was gathering!
BOOM—!
A dull explosion like a soul being shaken free from its body echoed in the sky! Hulk's fist crashed down on the Leviathan's massive head with unstoppable force!
For an instant, time seemed to freeze.
Then, in front of countless terrified eyes—the Avengers, the Leviathan, its biological armor tough enough to withstand missile barrages—all crumpled before the sheer, pure power of Hulk, as if made of papier-mâché. Dented, cracked, shattered!
"ROAARR—!"
The Leviathan let out a bloodcurdling howl, its oversized body blasted backward by an irresistible force, like a baseball smashed back into a parabolic arc by a professional slugger—straight back into the wormhole!
The next moment, on the other side of the wormhole, in the Chitauri fleet's starry domain, an immense, silent fireball exploded! The out-of-control Leviathan crashed into the incoming fleet, triggering a tragic chain explosion!
One punch!
With a single blow, Hulk used the interstellar beast as a tactical weapon and repelled it!
He landed in the void, raising his fist and smiling in satisfaction. Like an invincible green god of war, he alone blocked the gates of hell!
At the same time, another figure slowly emerged.
A creature made of deep purple energy, constantly undulating like a giant jelly, radiating an aura of chaos and evil—
Mini-Dormammu!
It appeared on the opposite side of Hulk, the two forming a second line of defense.
No words, no unnecessary movement.
But the dark dimensional energy around it began to converge at a speed visible to the naked eye! Behind it, a gigantic outline of pure darkness and nothingness towered.
Next, dozens of thick, jet-black tentacles, their surfaces constantly flickering with arcs of purple lightning—tentacles of dark energy—stretched from its jelly-like form!
These tentacles, as if alive, ignored physical distance and danced wildly in the air, like a swarm of ravenous pythons awakening from the heavens! Their targets: the Leviathans burrowing underground!
"Shh! Shh! Shh!"
Dozens of dark tentacles precisely wrapped around the steel bodies, heads, and tails of the monstrous Leviathans! Then they tightened suddenly!
CRUNCH… CRACK… SNAP—
The sound of metal and bone forcibly crushed echoed in the sky, sending shivers down the spine! The mighty Leviathans, so fearsome on the battlefield, were as fragile as toys before the dark dimensional tentacles. Their armor deformed and shattered! Their insides crushed!
Worse, as the tentacles squeezed, they devoured the very bodies and energies of the beasts! Amidst the terrifying sounds, each Leviathan was strangled, rotted alive, and finally transformed into purest energy, absorbed by Dormammu's tentacles without leaving a trace!
This was pure, unreasonable, all-devouring destructive power.
Every enemy on the battlefield felt a chill pierce their very souls—utter horror!
…
Atop Stark Tower:
The enthusiasm and arrogance on Loki's face had long vanished, replaced by deep shock and a faint, unwelcome emotion—fear.
He stared blankly at the unbelievable scene in the sky, his mind unable to process what he saw.
"That's… that green giant… what's going on?"
His voice was dry with shock. The sheer, unreasonable power left his scalp numb. To think someone could punch a Leviathan back through a wormhole and use it as a cannonball? Unimaginable power! Terrifying!
And the purple, jelly-like figure—tentacles stretching from the void, radiating an aura of darkness and chaos, endlessly devouring Leviathans—
Loki's pupils shrank sharply. A name sprang to mind.
"Dormammu? The Lord of the Dark Dimension?"
He couldn't believe it! Even his father Odin feared the Master of the Third Dimension in legends. How could such a being appear here? And even more, fighting for Midgard—for Earth?
Has the world gone mad?
Loki felt his heart congeal like glue. Countless questions swirled frantically in his mind, but he could find no reasonable answer. He did not know, nor understand, what kind of existence could make a chaotic and evil dimension lord like Dormammu bow his head and fight for them.
But he knew one thing:
If this continued, today's beautiful "invasion drama" would be utterly ruined!
His Chitauri army would be slaughtered alive by this monstrous group—each more twisted than the last, blocking every door and killing every last one!
The thought of facing Thanos's wrath made Loki shudder.
No! Such failure was unacceptable!
He forced down his shock and fear and stared at the floating wormhole, still spewing Chitauri soldiers. A cold smile appeared at his lips.
"Very good… very good…" he muttered, as if to reassure himself.
"You're all really strong! These damn mutants, that big green guy, and Dormammu—who I don't even know why is here… your power far exceeds my expectations."
"But!"
His voice suddenly rose, brimming with confidence.
"In the end, there are simply too few of you!"
"You can block the front of the wormhole, but… can you seal off the entire sky?"
A cunning light flashed in his eyes!
