"Is it a new enemy?"Sasuke, who had been standing nearby, overheard the conversation and walked over to ask.
Naruto lowered his voice, his expression grave. "Behind you."
Sasuke turned around instinctively. Seizing the moment, Naruto struck the back of Sasuke's neck with the hilt of his blade. Sasuke collapsed, unconscious.
"Forgive me, Sasuke. This is the last time," Naruto murmured as he caught him and gently laid him on the ground.
Sakura had not expected Naruto to attack Sasuke outright. She frowned, clearly caught off guard."What's going on?"
"Because she really is here," Naruto said slowly, signaling Sakura to turn her head away. "And this has to be kept from Sasuke."
A figure slowly emerged from the depths of the forest.
She had jet-black hair tied into a ponytail. Her clothes were disheveled, her face deathly pale, and her breathing ragged. Anger, confusion, grievance, and exhaustion all churned in her eyes.
Jin Hammer stared at Naruto with a complicated expression."How did you find me?"
"To be precise, it wasn't me," Naruto replied. "It was the Nine-Tails inside me. It sensed intense malice in the forest and tried to tempt me into surrendering my body so it could completely destroy you."
What Naruto didn't say was that within his mental space, he and the Nine-Tails had fought repeatedly—only through sheer will had his reason finally prevailed.
"Is that so?" Jin seemed to realize something, but suddenly she clutched her head, her expression twisting in pain.
Her face turned savage."Listen… time travel is completely—hahaha—no, I have clues, you can—hmph—hahaha…"
At times she sounded lucid, at times utterly mad. Her words were incoherent, her mental state terrifyingly unstable, as if she might lose herself at any moment.
Sakura instinctively stepped back two paces, one hand slipping behind her as she reached into her ninja pouch and pulled out a kunai.
Naruto frowned. Every cell in his body was screaming: Kill her. Kill her. Kill her.But his reason told him to listen first—there might be useful information.
After all, the repeated cycle of "Traveler appears → Traveler is killed" would only lead to failure. Even if they survived by chance, their identities might be exposed and attract ANBU attention. Talking now was the better choice.
Suppressing his killing intent, Naruto slowed his voice."Calm down. Tell me what clues you have."
But Jin didn't seem to hear him at all. One hand braced against a tree while the other covered her eyes as she gasped for air.
Sakura glanced at Naruto from time to time, equally tense. If she wanted to silence Jin, now would be the best opportunity.
"Do you want to do it, Naruto?" she whispered anxiously.
"Hold on. Wait," Naruto replied.
He stepped forward, hiding his kunai behind his back, and cautiously asked,"Are you okay?"
"Boom!"
"Boom!"
His heart pounded wildly.
At last, Jin reacted. When she looked at Naruto again, a hint of clarity returned to her eyes. She lowered her head, breathing heavily.
"Sorry… the clue is right here… huff… huff…"
She weakly pointed at her pocket, signaling him to take it.
Naruto's guard shot up immediately. He glanced at Sakura, who subtly shook her head.
"Throw it to me," Naruto said.
He extended his left hand slowly, palm open—but Jin saw it and shook her head.
"Don't touch me… come closer…"
A lock of black hair stuck to her sweat-soaked cheek. Faint blue veins twitched across her forehead like writhing snakes—it was terrifying.
"How close?" Naruto asked.
"Closer."
"How many steps?"
"Two or three."
"How long is one step?"
"..."
Jin suddenly looked up, startled to find Naruto staring at her intently, not a trace of humor in his eyes.
What does he mean?Naruto thought, Fifty centimeters? One hundred? Everyone's stride is different. My step might not even reach a meter…
Dizziness washed over Jin. Irritation crept onto her face.
What is going on?!
A ringing filled her ears, her vision blurring. Naruto's voice grew distant until she could only see his lips moving—like a goldfish blowing bubbles.
Her consciousness began to fade.
"Boom!!"
Suddenly, two figures burst from the ground on either side of Jin, grabbing her left and right arms!
"Shadow clones…" she thought dimly, seeing two blond figures attack simultaneously.
Naruto had ordered the clones to burrow underground in advance, then seize her arms while distracting her attention.
It was the best solution he could think of: capture her alive.
Just as the clones were about to succeed, Jin curled her left index finger backward—
Ding.
A clear chime rang out.
The shadow clones froze instantly.
The confusion and pain vanished from her face, replaced by a playful smile."I almost caught you," she chuckled.
A moment later, she kicked to the right, blasting one clone into fragments. Her expression turned manic.
"Drop the act!" Naruto leapt back, eyes locked onto the bulging pocket on her right side. Something was clearly hidden there.
Doubt flooded his mind.If she was really that clumsy, how did she think she could catch me?
Before he could think further, Jin hooked her thumb.
Countless kunai erupted from the forest, flying straight toward Sakura and Sasuke!
Sakura reacted instantly, forming hand seals."Water Style: Water Encampment Wall!"
"Boom!"
Water vapor condensed into flowing streams, surrounding Sakura and Sasuke. The kunai struck the barrier and were deflected!
Naruto stopped holding back.
The Nine-Tails' chakra surged over his body, thick with killing intent. A purple chakra vortex formed in his right hand, chakra wings sprouting from his back as his body became fully enveloped.
He took Jin's powerful flying kick head-on.
"Boom!!"
The impact sent Naruto flying five meters, leaving him dizzy. At the same time, a Tailed Beast–enhanced Rasengan formed. He extended the Nine-Tails' chakra forward and hurled it violently toward Jin.
At that critical moment—
Jin froze.
"BOOM!!!"
The Rasengan slammed directly into her abdomen and exploded, flooding the area with red-purple chakra saturated with murderous intent. Leaves were stained crimson, and blood visibly evaporated in the air.
Naruto stared ahead, his pupils shrinking.
At the center of the storm, Jin clutched her pocket tightly, allowing the razor-sharp chakra to devour her life. The madness faded from her eyes, replaced by a final moment of clarity.
"Boom."
As the chakra dissipated, Jin collapsed like a dead dog, utterly lifeless.
Naruto approached quickly, unease growing stronger.
"Was it really that simple?"
Instead of relief, confusion deepened.
Why did she suddenly freeze? Why did she cling to her pocket so desperately?
Up close, her eyes were wide open, her hair sprawled messily across the ground. Her clothes were torn, her body covered in wounds. Her abdomen was catastrophically damaged—fragments of organs visible amid the blood.
There was no chance of survival.
Naruto looked at the pocket clenched in her hand. It had already been torn into strips.
He pried her fingers open.
"So much power…" Naruto murmured as he unfolded the cloth.
Inside lay an irregularly shaped fragment—pitch black, dull, completely devoid of luster.
"Is this the clue?" he whispered, as Sakura approached helplessly.
What kind of clue was this?
Then—Suddenly!
The black fragment erupted with overwhelming suction. Space itself seemed seized by an invisible hand, violently twisted around it!
A vortex-like black hole appeared out of nowhere, tearing everything toward its center.
Naruto's body was ripped apart by the force.
"This is—Kamui?!" he shouted in shock.
Sakura panicked and sprinted forward instinctively.
Naruto snapped back to his senses and yelled at her,"Stay back! Get away from me! Go find—!"
Before he could finish, he was completely swallowed by the vortex.
