Chapter 16 - [16] Seizing Dominance in the Slytherin Dungeons

Well done, Draco!

It didn't let all the effort I put into you go to waste!

Argus couldn't help but laugh this time.

Dumbledore racked his brains to call him over, only to feel guilty for half a day because of his own actions.

In the end, it was all for naught!

"Headmaster, it's getting late. If you have nothing else to do, I'll head back now."

"So many Slytherin classmates are waiting for me; I can't keep them waiting too long."

"You agree, don't you?"

Argus suppressed the urge to grin wildly and gave a polite bow.

After receiving Dumbledore's reluctant permission, they followed Snape back to the Slytherin common room.

Upon entering, they saw dozens of pure-blooded freshmen, led by Draco, Pansy, and Daphne, holding wands and warily looking at the freshmen and upperclassmen opposite them.

Argus knew this before he even came into contact with the British pure-blood families.

Pureblood families are also divided into several factions. In addition to the Sacred Twenty-Eight, there are many other powerful pureblood families.

The purebloods that Argus recruited, led by Malfoy, only comprised a portion of this group.

He knew that he could not bring all the pure-blood families under his control.

The right approach is to win over some, suppress others, and eliminate the rest!

Now is the time to establish authority!

"Argus, you're finally back!"

"Well done, Draco."

Argus stepped forward, stood before the crowd, looked at Draco, and his eyes showed admiration.

He turned to face the other Slytherin students.

"Dear seniors, didn't we say we were going to set the tone for the year?"

Let's begin!

Prefect Gemma Farley spoke coldly: "All freshmen are present."

"The election for the top freshman is now beginning."

Are there any challengers?

A boy who was as thin as a skeleton immediately stepped forward.

His eyes were fixed on Argus.

"Nigel Shafiq!"

The Shafiq family, one of the Sacred Twenty-Eight.

He ran a potion business, but was suppressed when Voldemort rose to power, and never recovered.

They are the kind of people who can be won over.

Information about this person immediately came to Argus's mind.

Upon enrollment, he had Vinda collect information on his peers from pure-blooded British families so that he could take targeted measures at the school.

He raised his wand, held it horizontally in front of his chest, and performed the standard wizard duel salute.

"Argus Grindelwald!"

After both sides officially entered the arena, Gemma Farley used magic to clear away the surrounding clutter.

"The duel begins!"

"Oppugno!"

No sooner had he finished speaking than Nigel Shafiq couldn't wait to unleash his most proficient move.

Unfortunately, he is only eleven years old this year, just starting school.

Even if one learns magic at home in advance, due to age and talent limitations, this "Oppugno" skill would only be level 1 in terms of system level.

Although Argus had previously converted all his achievement points into talents, he had learned a considerable amount of magic and knowledge in the process of grinding for achievement points.

It was just that he hadn't had time to think and practice.

Even so, most of his magic levels are around level 2, and some of his magic has even reached level 3.

He has mastered far more magic than the average student!

"Incendio!"

Argus pointed his wand at the bird in mid-air, and a raging fire quickly engulfed it.

Undeterred, it flew straight towards its opponent!

Shafiq was terrified.

The magic I've practiced for so long is so easily defeated!

In their terror, they even forgot to dodge!

"Idiot! Get out of the way!"

When Snape reprimanded him, he pulled out his wand, ready to strike.

Just as it was about to touch Shafiq, the flames suddenly disappeared.

Only the lingering heat remained, burning his face bright red.

Are you alright?

Shafiq was so frightened that he closed his eyes tightly, thinking he was going to die, when suddenly he heard a gentle voice in his ear.

When he opened his eyes, he found himself lying on the ground, with a slender hand reaching out to him.

"I...I'm fine."

"It's good that you're alright. The meaning of magic is to protect, not to risk your life. If you had been hurt because of my mistake, I would have been too guilty to sleep tonight!"

His words echoed in the lounge, causing an uproar among the crowd.

Is this something the son of the Dark Lord could say?

Several people kept reciting the meaning of Argus's words on magic, and the more they recited them, the more meaningful they felt.

Shafiq looked up and met Argus's gentle gaze.

Shafiq saw not a trace of mockery toward the loser in his eyes.

Only heartfelt concern!

He seems to genuinely care about me!

Before this, Shafiq's impression of Argus was that he was the son of the Dark Lord, an evil wizard!

When he stepped forward, he was already prepared to go to St. Mungo's Hospital.

As a result, not only did I not suffer any harm, but I also received genuine care from the other party!

The thought of how he had just been annoyed by Argus's late arrival made him realize that he had just been dissatisfied with him.

Shafiq felt a deep sense of guilt.

He stammered out two responses.

The powerful intimidation of Argus when he used magic kept flashing through his mind, as well as the gentle comfort he received after the duel ended.

After gazing at Argus for a long time, he rolled to his feet and bowed deeply to Argus.

"Your Excellency Mr. Grindelwald, you are a powerful wizard and a worthy nobleman."

"Thank you for your guidance. Fighting you is the honor of my life!"

The entire battle lasted only a dozen seconds from beginning to end, and there was absolutely no bloodshed.

This surprised the senior students and Snape.

Shafiq stood tall and proud, returning to stand among his peers.

In his mind, Argus was not only a great wizard, but also a person of noble character.

Even if defeated, they would have no complaints!

"Next challenger, please step forward."

"Is there a next challenger?"

Gemma Farley repeated it several times.

There was only silence in response.

This year's freshmen want to show off, but they're not stupid.

One move was enough to show that Argus's strength was not on the same level as theirs at all.

Fight him? Are you asking for death?

"Is no one else going to challenge me? Then I hereby declare Argus Grindelwald the leader of the first-year students!"

As soon as he finished speaking, enthusiastic applause erupted in the lounge.

[Congratulations, host, on becoming the Slytherin Prefect! You have achieved the achievement: Prefect (First Year)]

[Achievement Points Reward: 100]

"One hundred points is quite a lot."

"They should be able to give us another round when we reach the second year."

"After seventh grade, I had a total of 700 points. Luckily, Draco and the others stepped in, otherwise, I would have suffered a huge loss!"

After calming down the agitated Draco and the others, Argus heard Gemma Farley speak again.

"Now that the new chief has been determined, let's begin the chief ranking battle."

Does anyone want a challenge?

"Chief Ranking Battle?"

Argus was somewhat puzzled.

He knew that Slytherin had a Prefect, who was chosen from the freshmen each year.

What is this ranked battle?

Draco explained, "The Slytherin hierarchy is so strict that there are standards for where to sit when eating or participating in activities."

"Even those of us in lower grades and with lower rankings are forbidden from participating in activities if there are too many people."

"The ranking battle is a competition between the top students to determine their ranking in their grade."

After hearing Draco's words, Argus finally understood the meaning of "first year" in the system achievements!

It turns out that "first grade" doesn't mean that one is in first grade, but rather that one is only the top student in first grade!

Since that's the case, then don't blame me for being impolite!

Achievement points are something you should get as early as possible; improving your strength as quickly as possible is the right way to go!

Without sufficient strength, no matter how many forces you command, they are just castles in the air!

"Argus, you don't intend to..."

Draco noticed the change in Argus's eyes and almost cried out in surprise.

Thinking of Argus's strength, he immediately showed delight.

"That's right, with your strength, you might not be able to beat older students, but you'd be more than capable of taking on second-year students!"

"Quick, teach them a lesson! Before you came back, Derrick Avery, a second-year student, was the loudest!"

Argus smiled slightly and stepped out from the crowd.

"First-year leader Argus Grindelwald challenges second-year leader Derrick Avery!"
