He looked at Wish, then at Hyrin, then back at Wish.
"I actually think it might be fun."
Wish's tail puffed so violently it nearly knocked over a potted plant behind her. Her face went crimson. Her mouth opened, closed, opened again.
"Fun," she repeated flatly.
"Fun," Aurex confirmed, completely unbothered by her expression. His golden eyes slid over her slowly—deliberately.
"Think about it, Pufftail," he said, his voice dropping lower, rougher, darker. "Two deities. Devoted entirely to you. Both of us, competing to make you happy, to make you smile, to make you—"
His eyes darkened.
"Feel good."
He said the last two words like a promise. Like a vow he intended to keep, personally, repeatedly, and thoroughly.
The air on the balcony felt about ten degrees warmer.
Wish swallowed.
"You're serious," Hyrin said slowly.
"Deadly."
"You wouldn't... mind? Sharing? Though I was planning on running away with her."
