Xia Qing had no time to listen to the fighting in Territories One and Two. She put night-vision goggles on both herself and the sheep, grabbed a gun, locked the door, sprinkled insect repellent powder, and then led the sheep south towards the territory.
The sheep might not be able to kill the evolved rats, but with Xia Qing with it, she could ensure the sheep wouldn't be bitten.
Territory Two was just south of Territory Three, and there were definitely more than four evolved rats invading Territory Three. If the invading evolved rats weren't cleared out before nightfall, the consequences would be unimaginable.
Evolved rats, capable of roaming freely and causing significant damage, couldn't be dealt with while waiting for the danger detection team to arrive. Xia Qing had just taken out her phone to call Hu Zifeng when Hu Zifeng called.
He went straight to the point without any preamble, "The olfactory evolution team members Chen Zheng and Chen Cheng have already headed to Territory Three. Is that enough?"
"If they all come, what about Territory One?" Hu Zifeng's team only had these two olfactory evolution members.
Hu Zifeng's demeanor was completely different from his fiery argument in the lord's channel. His voice was calm and collected. "Our mission is to protect Territory Three."
Protecting Territory Three was their mission. Luo Pei was also here, and Territory Three was indeed more important than Territory One.
After hanging up, Xia Qing felt much more at ease. She activated her sight and hearing, searching for traces of the rodent-like evolved rats.
Two members of Hu Zifeng's team with enhanced olfactory senses, along with Yuan Rui, an olfactory evolved human from Tan Junjie's team, arrived one after another. Using their sense of smell, they patrolled Xia Qing's territory in just over an hour, tracking sixteen rodent-like evolved rats that had entered Territory Three from Territory Two. Xia Qing killed four, four were hunted down by the evolved birds within the territory, and the remaining eight were eliminated by the three of them.
After clearing the area, Yuan Rui, the olfactory evolved human from Tan Junjie's team, immediately rushed to Territory Nine to provide reinforcements.
During their search of Territory Three, they discovered traces of rodent-like evolved rats in Territory Four (east of Territory Three), Territory Nine (east of Territory Two), and Territory Eight (southwest of Territory Two). Three ordinary people in Territory Nine had already been bitten and were in critical condition.
Xia Qing could hear gunshots and roars emanating from the territories to the east and south, even from within his own territory.
Territory Eleven was south of Territory Two. Xia Qing deduced that evolved rats must have escaped there as well, but Territory Eleven was outside the search area of Tan Junjie's team, and its lord was not on the communication channel of Lords One through Ten.
At nine o'clock that evening, a light rain began to fall again, making the protection of the territories even more difficult.
With only a not-so-bright sheep as an assistant, Xia Qing dared not be careless and called Da Jiang, an auditory evolution team member sent by Hu Zifeng, to help guard Territory Three. Meanwhile, the evolved rats in Territory One had also been cleared out.
After Dajiang arrived, Xia Qing had three human helpers: Dajiang, a level four auditory evolver; and Chen Zheng and Chen Cheng, level five olfactory evolvers.
Twenty-three-year-old Chen Zheng and twenty-one-year-old Chen Cheng were brothers with the same evolutionary ability level; the older brother was more composed, while the younger brother was more impulsive.
Tonight, Territory Three needed to deal with two dangers: attacks and destruction by evolved rats or other evolved animals; and the evolutionary damage to crops. The four split into two groups: Xia Qing and Chen Zheng patrolled the rain shelter, while Dajiang and Chen Cheng patrolled the territory.
Of course, Xia Qing also had a helper: Boss Sheep.
A light drizzle fell all night, its level fluctuating between orange and yellow. During the night, Dajiang and Chen Cheng killed four more rodent-like evolved rats that had escaped from Territory Two, cleared away swarms of evolutionary insects approaching the rain shelter, and Xia Qing and Chen Zheng also cleared away evolutionary plants one by one.
Around 4 AM, a large swarm of evolved rats suddenly appeared in Territory Two, rushing towards Territories One and Three, accompanied by continuous gunfire. After killing over fifty more evolved rats, Xia Qing was itching to run to Territory Two and kill Tang Huai.
The next morning, Tan Junjie's team forcibly entered Territory Two and completely wiped them out, finally ending the evolved rat crisis.
Hu Zifeng replaced Da Jiang, Chen Zheng, and Chen Cheng with four other team members, allowing Xia Qing to go home and rest.
The situation was relatively good during the day; a light drizzle kept the level blue.
Around 4 PM, Da Jiang, Chen Zheng, and Chen Cheng returned to Territory Three to relieve their four teammates, continuing their shifts with Xia Qing.
Da Jiang and Chen Cheng continued patrolling the territory, while Xia Qing and Chen Zheng patrolled the rain shelter.
In the light drizzle, Da Jiang, an auditory evolver, walked alongside his olfactory evolver teammate Chen Cheng, saying, "Territory Number Three is much cleaner than ours, and they've planted so many crops and vegetables. Miss Xia truly lives up to her reputation as a power evolver."
Chen Cheng scoffed, "Guan Tong is also a level five power evolver. Do you think he could grow so many crops all by himself?"
Da Jiang immediately shook his head, "No way."
Chen Cheng shook off the rain from his protective suit, "Miss Xia is hardworking and capable. If most of the crops in the shed survive this devastating rain, she'll be set for life this year."
In a year of natural disasters, having enough to eat and wear, and a stable home, is the dream of most people. Da Jiang said enviously, "Not only will she be set for life, but she'll also soon have an evolved cat."
The two inspected the area, clearing away a large number of evolved insects near the rain shelter and Xia Qing's house, before returning to the small hut beside the farmland. Coincidentally, Xia Qing and Chen Zheng had also just finished inspecting the rain shelter and were resting inside.
After removing his protective mask, Chen Cheng's eyes were glued to the sheep alpha male beside Xia Qing, moving closer to it as he spoke. "Miss Xia, this house is beautifully built; it doesn't leak at all."
Xia Qing smiled. "If a small house leaked, I wouldn't have worked for a construction team for five years. You're too kind. Just call me Xia Qing, like before."
Xia Qing often accompanied Luo Pei's team on missions, and Luo Pei's team sometimes teamed up with Hu Zifeng's team. Therefore, the people in Hu Zifeng's team already knew Xia Qing, only her status was different now than it had been then.
"That won't do, you're our great benefactor." Chen Cheng moved forward a little more. "But calling you Miss Xia is too formal. How about we call you Sister Qing?"
"Of course!" The eldest sheep's muscles tensed up at Chen Cheng's approach, ready to throw a tantrum. Xia Qing poured a cup of tea and handed it to Chen Cheng. "You've worked hard. Sit down and have some tea."
"Thank you, Sister Qing." Chen Cheng held the tea with both hands, wanting to move closer to the eldest sheep, but his brother Chen Zheng pulled him back.
"This tea is really good. It doesn't smell bad at all." Chen Cheng took a deep sniff.
Oral evolved humans are extremely sensitive to smells, and this has caused them a lot of suffering. For example, the impurities that cannot be completely removed from filtered water are torture for them.
The tea was brewed with unpolluted spring water, so of course it couldn't smell bad. Xia Qing, holding the tea, explained, "I traded this tea with the lord of Land Seven; it really tastes good."
Xia Qing traded it with Zhang San through the lord's channel; everyone in the various territories knew about it.
