Chapter 34 - Still directionless? Not so anymore.

When the sponsor selection finally began. Many of the incarnations were surrounded by a weird light. It was like a small star was hovering around them.

Apparently the number of these stars that appear around someone, that means that is the number of constellations wanting to be that incarnation's sponsor.

Most incarnations have like one or two at best. They are lucky enough, having a constellation is better than having none. Some didn't have any. Which meant, either they already have one, or just that no one is interested in them. Unlucky guys.

And about Ken himself… "I guess seventeen isn't so bad. I thought I became more famous after the fight with Ilsang."

When Ken was scrolling to see the constellations who wanted to be his supporting constellation. He saw ones he had expected.

[The masochist of Joseon.]

[The dead man who came back.]

[Merchant of Venice.]

And there were some others he had either seen a few times, or never saw to begin with.

[Forefoot runner.]

[Disaster of Europea.]

[The luckiest in Ares.]

[The king of depravity.]

[The tree of guidance.]

There were some more. But the one that weirded Ken out the most was. "Forefoot runner?" He paused for a while before mumbling under his breath. "How did this guy even become a constellation?"

There were some that looked tempting. Sometimes, just the modifier of a constellation makes them look strong. That's exactly what's happening right now.

A constellation's modifier comes from their biggest achievement before they become a constellation. It would be better to say that it is what represents the best.

It was a bit tempting because of some of their names. The most tempting being the merchant of Venice, since Ken made him one of the richest and one of the best negotiators in his fanfic. Which would mean, anyone who is his incarnation, will be filthy rich.

Some constellations started to fight over him by giving him coins. Ken didn't mind at all. Since he was simply being showered with coins over a fight.

And of course, the merchant of Venice was dominating. But Ken didn't care about it, as he was looking for Dokja at that moment.

As he looked around, he easily found Dokja, who was quite literally entirely covered in the stars. That's just how many constellations were interested in him.

Even though he waved at Dokja, he didn't notice it. But someone else did. It was Gilyoung and Yoosung. Although he had met Lee Gilyoung before, he had never met Shin Yoosung.

Even though he met Gilyoung, the meeting was not exactly… good enough to be called good. And as for Yoosung, to her, he must look like a weird stranger who is waving towards Dokja.

As he saw Gilyoung whisper in Yoosung's ear, despite them mostly not getting along, it was enough for Ken to know that Gilyoung must have been talking shit about him.

[Multiple constellations are frustrated at you for not choosing a constellation.]

[Multiple constellations tell you to hurry.]

As Ken looked at the notification, then to the timer in the sky. Which had less than a minute left. Ken simply replied. "What do you mean by that? I never intended to pick a sponsor to begin with."

[Multiple constellations are perplexed.]

[Multiple constellations want their coins back.]

[Multiple constellations are extremely angry with you.]

[Constellations of the nebula The three idiots let out a sigh.]

[Constellations of the nebula The three idiots ask as to why you are adamant on not wanting a sponsor.]

"That? Simple, I too want to become one. I can't be one if I have a sponsor, can I?"

[Many constellations are baffled with your arrogance.]

[Many constellations are extremely angry at you for your arrogance.]

Ken was not being arrogant, but they simply interpreted it as him being arrogant. Well, not that he gave a fuck about it. Since he is pretty sure he can be one with his plot armor.

As another few seconds passed. A notification came up.

[Sponsor selection has ended.]

[Many constellations are furious with you.]

Ken ignored them and looked to the sky. And specifically tried to call out someone, but suddenly stopped, looking at Bihyung.

Bihyung was in a bit of a hurry trying to control the constellations that were enraged at Dokja for not picking even a single constellation. As he proposed a bounty scenario. Many constellations agreed, and one indeed came.

[A new Bounty scenario has arrived.]

[Bounty scenario: Divine punishment.]

[Difficulty: A.]

[Description: Give the incarnation Kim Dokja as brutal and painful death as possible. The more brutally and painfully he dies, the more coins you get.]

[Time limit: 20 minutes.]

[Reward: 40,000 – ??? Coins.]

[Penalty for failure: None.]

"I reject it."

[500 coins have been deducted according to the contract.]

Just as the scenario came, every incarnation there was, started to run towards Dokja in order to kill him, since why not? He is basically free coins. And more so, he is marked, meaning they can find him no matter where he runs to.

As they started chasing him, some constellations started to give him penalties. Which was allowed for some reason in this scenario, as it was a scenario made to punish Dokja. Though, Ken is pretty sure it is also a plan of Dokja.

As Ken looked at the sky again, he started to speak. To two specific constellations.

"Constellation, the masochist of Joseon and the dead man who came back. I want to talk to you two."

[Two constellations are interested in what you have to say.]

"You guys both know that your legends have mostly died down. Meaning, if this keeps on going on, you two will lose your story… and die for good.

And the only reason you two are still hanging by thread is your nebula, which is decently famous for being… well, made of three idiots, who are not really idiots."

[Two constellations ask you to be specific at what you are trying to say.]

"To put it simply. I'm asking you two to give me a bounty scenario to justify and give me a stigma from you two… ok, just the dead man who came back.

Since the masochist of Joseon's story is definitely starting to get restored because of my use of his sword and stigma."

[Two constellations look at each other.]

[Two constellations are consulting with each other.]

[Constellation, The dead man who came back agrees to your plan.]

[A new Bounty scenario has arrived.]

[Bounty scenario: Save your friend.]

[Difficulty: C.]

[Description: Two constellations want you to save the incarnation Kim Dokja, who is supposed to be your friend.]

[Time limit: 17 minutes.]

[Reward: Baseless survival (Stigma), Persistence (Stigma).]

[Penalty for failure: The disappointment and resentment of The masochist of Joseon and The dead man who came back.]

[Special note: This is a joint scenario given by two constellations.]

Ken had expected the dead man who came back to give it, but didn't expect the masochist of Joseon to give another.

Ken cracked his knuckles and moved to where the crowd was. They were near the Han river, as Dokja was in the Han river and was doing something.

Ken couldn't really see through the crowd. But he didn't really bother pushing the crowd.

As a faint light of silver surrounds multiple people there, all of them are suddenly cut to pieces.

Ken had used a really thin silver like thread in order to cut them to pieces like it was nothing. Mostly easy because it was not the one that he got from the construction site, but another made specifically for fighting purposes.

Just as multiple people scream at him and ask as to why he was attacking them. He simply answered. "You guys got a bounty to kill him, and I got one to protect him. Simple, right?"

As Ken looked at where Dokja was, he was heading towards an island. But the most important fact being an extremely large Ichthyosaur was taking him there, and some guys were flying behind him to catch up to him.

Ken became a bit annoyed as they had skills that allowed them to fly. Which kind of made the flight of the way of the wind pointless.

As an ice energy exuded from his sword. He stabbed it and froze the feet of the people attacking him.

Using the way of the wind, he propelled himself to fly in the same direction Dokja was heading towards, and the guys chasing Dokja.
