Chapter 44 - The First New Creation

Chrono stared at the four configurations hovering before him.

Each one represented a possibility that had never existed in the original game. That alone made them dangerous — not because they were necessarily powerful.

*Because they were unknown.*

Chrono had spent most of his time in this world relying on knowledge from the game. Skills. Bosses. Weaknesses. Characters. Historical events. Even the locations of certain artifacts.

But Creation was different. There was no guidebook for this. No walkthrough. No hidden wiki page. No player discussion explaining what would happen if a Phoenix Feather was combined with the tails of a Nine-Tail.

Chrono slowly smiled. "Finally."

Gran tilted his head.

Chrono looked at him. "Something I don't already know."

Gran's ears lowered slightly. Chrono sighed. "Don't look at me like that."

Glask stood beside them silently.

---

Chrono opened the first configuration.

---

**[Configuration One]**

**[Phoenix Feather × Nine-Tail Tail]**

**[Compatibility: 78%]**

**[Primary Attributes: Fire, Spiritual Energy, Regeneration, Illusion]**

**[Potential Race: Unknown]**

**[Potential Class Compatibility: Sorcerer / Spirit Beast]**

**[Risk: Moderate]**

---

Chrono's eyes narrowed. "Seventy-eight percent."

He examined the description. The Phoenix represented rebirth and overwhelming vitality. The Nine-Tail represented spiritual energy, intelligence, and transformation. The combination made sense.

*Too much sense.*

He opened the second configuration.

---

**[Configuration Two]**

**[Orc Ear × Minotaur Horn]**

**[Compatibility: 91%]**

**[Primary Attributes: Physical Strength, Combat Instinct, Force]**

**[Potential Race: Unknown]**

**[Potential Class Compatibility: Fighter / Berserker]**

**[Risk: High]**

---

Chrono stared. "…Ninety-one?"

He looked toward the Minotaur Horn stored inside his inventory. The horn had belonged to the 8th Commander. The Orc Ear had belonged to the 10th. Two commanders of the Demon King's army. Both monsters had possessed exceptional physical abilities.

Chrono's expression became thoughtful. "This could create something absurd."

Gran barked.

"I know."

Gran barked again.

"I said I know."

Another bark.

Chrono sighed. "You're really interested in that one, aren't you?"

Gran's tail wagged.

Glask raised one hand. "My lord."

Chrono looked toward him. "Yes?"

"Would the resulting creation retain the abilities of the materials?"

Chrono paused. "That depends." He remembered the original rules of Creation — combining materials didn't simply transfer every ability. The resulting lifeform inherited physical characteristics, compatible traits, and certain potential abilities. But the final result depended on the compatibility of the materials and the design chosen by the Creator.

---

Chrono opened the third configuration.

---

**[Configuration Three]**

**[Ghost Shard × Gragollia Material]**

**[Compatibility: 63%]**

**[Primary Attributes: Spiritual Energy, Crystal Growth, Mana Storage]**

**[Potential Race: Crystal Spirit]**

**[Potential Class Compatibility: Mage / Support]**

**[Risk: Unknown]**

---

Chrono's expression changed. "That's interesting."

The Ghost Shard had originally come from the Ancient Tomb Wraith. The Gragollia material came from a living creature capable of producing extremely durable crystals. One was spiritual. One was physical. Yet the System considered them compatible.

Chrono tapped the configuration. "Why?"

---

**[Both materials possess independent energy-storage properties.]**

**[The Ghost Shard stores spiritual energy.]**

**[Gragollia crystal stores physical and magical energy.]**

**[Creation compatibility detected.]**

---

Chrono nodded slowly. "So it would basically be a living mana-storage organism."

He looked toward the Gragollia. The small creature stared back at him from its enclosure.

Chrono smiled. "Don't worry. I'm not turning you into anything."

The Gragollia immediately turned around.

Chrono blinked. "…Was that attitude?"

Gran barked. "I didn't ask."

---

He moved to the final configuration.

---

**[Configuration Four]**

**[Phoenix Tear × Nine-Tail Blood × Phoenix Feather × Nine-Tail Tail]**

**[Compatibility: 94%]**

**[Primary Attributes: Regeneration, Spiritual Energy, Fire, Transformation]**

**[Potential Race: Unknown]**

**[Potential Class Compatibility: Sorcerer / Spirit]**

**[Risk: Extremely High]**

---

Chrono froze. "Wait."

He looked at the ingredients again. Phoenix Tear. Nine-Tail Blood. Phoenix Feather. Nine-Tail Tail.

This wasn't simply combining two species anymore. It was combining concentrated remnants from two extraordinary creatures.

Chrono narrowed his eyes. "Why is this one ninety-four percent?"

---

**[The materials possess complementary regenerative and spiritual properties.]**

**[Phoenix energy stabilizes cellular regeneration.]**

**[Nine-Tail energy stabilizes spiritual structure.]**

**[Combined compatibility exceeds standard Creation parameters.]**

---

Chrono stared at the screen. Then he laughed quietly.

"So the strongest combination isn't necessarily the one with the strongest materials."

The System remained silent.

---

Chrono looked at all four configurations.

His first instinct was to create the most powerful one. But he stopped.

Power wasn't the only factor. A Creation was *a life.* Gran wasn't merely a weapon. Glask wasn't merely an undead servant. They were individuals.

If he created another life, he needed to think about what kind of existence he was giving it.

Chrono closed the fourth configuration. "Not yet."

Glask looked toward him. "My lord?"

"I don't know enough about it." Chrono looked at the Phoenix and Nine-Tail configuration. "Too many unknown variables."

He moved to the second. The Orc-Minotaur combination. "Ninety-one percent compatibility." His eyes narrowed. "But it's also built around pure physical combat." He closed it.

Then the third. Ghost Shard and Gragollia. Chrono considered it for several seconds. "This one has potential."

He looked toward the Gragollia again. The creature stared back. Chrono smiled. "But I'm not using another part of you without your permission."

The Gragollia blinked. Chrono wasn't even sure it understood him. Still, he decided against it.

That left the first.

*Phoenix and Nine-Tail.*

---

Chrono reopened the configuration. The materials floated above his hand. Seven Phoenix Feathers. Several Nine-Tail tails. The Phoenix Tear.

He didn't need to use all of them. That was another important difference — Creation didn't require sacrificing every material.

Chrono selected one Phoenix Feather. Then one Nine-Tail tail.

The System immediately reacted.

**[Creation configuration initiated.]**

**[Confirm lifeform creation?]**

Chrono paused.

This wasn't like casting a spell. He was about to create something that would *think.* Something that could develop preferences. Something that could eventually make decisions independent of him.

Chrono looked at Gran. Then Glask. Gran had become a loyal companion. Glask had become his devoted guardian. Neither had been exactly what Chrono expected when he first created them.

That was the point. Creation didn't simply produce what he wanted. It produced something that could become *more.*

Chrono placed the materials together. "Confirm."

---

**[Creation begins.]**

The Phoenix Feather dissolved into brilliant energy. The Nine-Tail tail followed.

Instead of mixing violently, the two energies began circling each other. *Fire. Spiritual energy. Fire. Spiritual energy.*

The two currents slowly formed a rotating sphere. Chrono's Creator's Eye activated automatically.

**[Stabilizing physical structure.]**

**[Stabilizing spiritual structure.]**

**[Constructing biological foundation.]**

**[Selecting compatible traits.]**

The sphere began shrinking. Then — a tiny pulse of light appeared.

Chrono's eyes widened.

A small body emerged from the center. It landed softly on the ground. For several seconds, nothing happened.

Then two small ears twitched.

The creature slowly lifted its head. It looked vaguely fox-like. Its fur shimmered with faint golden-red patterns. Nine small tails rested behind it — except one of them was noticeably brighter than the others. A tiny flame burned harmlessly at its tip.

Chrono crouched. The creature stared at him.

Its eyes were *intelligent.* Far more intelligent than a normal newborn creature should have been.

Chrono smiled. "Hello."

The creature tilted its head. Then it sneezed. A tiny spark escaped its nose.

Chrono blinked. Gran stared. Glask stared. The creature looked confused.

Chrono slowly smiled. "…You're adorable."

The creature immediately puffed its fur outward. A tiny flame appeared around its body.

Chrono raised both hands. "Okay, okay."

---

**[Creation successful.]**

**[Race identification incomplete.]**

**[Temporary designation: Phoenix Nine-Tail Hybrid.]**

**[Level: 1]**

**[Class selection available.]**

**[Compatible Classes:]**

**[Spirit Mage] [Flame Dancer] [Illusionist] [Beast Tamer] [Oracle]**

---

Chrono's eyes widened. "*Oracle?*"

That wasn't something he expected.

He opened Creator's Eye. The status window appeared.

---

**[Name: None] [Race: Phoenix Nine-Tail Hybrid] [Level: 1]**

**[Health: 30/30] [Mana: 50/50]**

**[Strength: 7] [Dexterity: 11] [Intelligence: 16]**

**[Wisdom: 18] [Defense: 8] [Charm: 20]**

**[Arcana: 22] [Agility: 14] [Mental: 17]**

**[Skills:]**

**[Spiritual Flame — Level 1]**

**[Minor Regeneration — Level 1]**

**[Spirit Sense — Level 1]**

**[Transformation — Locked]**

**[Illusion — Level 1]**

---

Chrono stared at the stats. "…Wisdom eighteen?"

His eyes moved toward the tiny creature. The creature stared back. Then it walked toward him — one small paw touching his boot.

Chrono crouched again. "So you're intelligent."

The creature nodded.

Chrono froze. "You understand me?"

The creature nodded again.

Gran immediately stepped forward. The little hybrid looked at him. Gran stopped.

The two creatures stared at each other. Then the hybrid's tails wagged. Gran's tail wagged.

Chrono slowly covered his face. "Great."

Glask tilted his head. "My lord?"

Chrono sighed. "I think I created another problem."

---

The System chimed.

**[Creation requires Persona assignment.]**

**[Select two personality traits.]**

Chrono looked at the creature. Unlike Gran and Glask, he didn't want to decide immediately. Personality wasn't something he wanted to treat casually.

He thought for several seconds. Then smiled.

"Curiosity."

**[Persona Trait One: Curiosity.]**

Chrono looked at the creature again. Its eyes were already wandering around the chamber, fascinated by everything.

The second trait came naturally.

"Kindness."

**[Persona Trait Two: Kindness.]**

The creature's ears perked up.

Chrono smiled. "Those should be enough."

**[Creation complete.]**

**[New life has entered the world.]**

---

Chrono stood.

The ancient chamber suddenly *pulsed.* Once. Twice.

The tiny hybrid turned toward the underground darkness. Its nine tails stopped moving.

Chrono noticed immediately. "You sense something?"

The creature nodded.

Chrono's expression became serious. The black arrowhead in his hand began *glowing* again.

Far beneath the chamber — the ancient heartbeat answered.

*THUMP.*

The walls trembled.

Chrono looked toward the darkness. The little creature stepped closer to him.

For the first time since its birth, its expression wasn't curiosity.

*It was fear.*

Chrono tightened his grip around the arrowhead. "…So you can sense it too."

Another heartbeat echoed beneath them.

*THUMP.*

Something deep underground had awakened.

And now — it knew they were there.
