"Hey, Uncle Rick, you still led us this far alive. We all trust you wouldn't lead us into certain death. There must have been a way."
Troy comforted him with a smile.
"And who exactly is Brother Lux? Can you read him at all?"
"I can't. But there's no doubt they're extremely capable. You saw that girl with the compound bow. She was getting headshots from so far away."
"At first I thought she was just relying on her looks to follow Brother Lux, but now it's clear she's truly skilled."
"As for the other little girls, the pressure they give me is no less than my old instructors in training. The three silver-haired ones and the gray-haired one… they would kill without hesitation. They might even be from the Russia."
"But they speak our language very well."
Troy said in confusion.
"I don't know either. Anyway, if we can stick with them, that's best. At least they clearly know how to survive in this world, and we won't starve."
"Otherwise, even if they gave us all the weapons from the militia warehouse, I'd still have a hard time keeping you alive. Firing guns recklessly could wipe us out."
Rick said seriously.
"Then why don't you go talk to them, Uncle Rick? Ask if they can take us along."
Robert walked over from another vehicle.
"Robert… tell me honestly, what reason do we have for Brother Lux to bring us along? He already has so many capable and beautiful girls around him."
"I think Daniel and Gabriel are just lucky enough to tag along."
"As for us grown men, to be blunt, we'd only drag them down. I'll try asking, but if they refuse, we shouldn't cling."
"They've already given us food and helped us get several vehicles. That's already more than enough kindness."
"If we can follow them, great. If not, we accept it."
Rick sighed. They were all adults who had lived in society for years and understood that no one would selflessly carry a bunch of dead weight.
Inside the Mercedes off-road vehicle, Gabriel, the pink-haired girl with a single ponytail, was happily examining the shining Nepalese Kukri.
"Sis, where did you get this? I saw Sister AA-12 also had one tied to her leg. You didn't steal it, did you?"
"Do you think your sister is that kind of person? He's our lifesaver. I would never steal from him."
Daniel affectionately flicked her sister's forehead.
"Then where did it come from?"
"Brother Lux heard I had some close-combat training from Dad and gave it to me."
"Hehehe, looks like spring has come for you, sis. You act like a boy all the time."
"Brat, do you want a beating? Brother Lux is surrounded by beauties. There's no way he'd fancy me. Even I think those older sisters are stunning."
"Hahaha, he was willing to give you such a good weapon. Maybe he's tired of sister AA-12 and the others and is aiming for your androgynous charm."
"Stick your head over here. I'll give you a love-filled flick."
"No way! That still hurts! I'm your real sister!"
Gabriel shrank toward the window playfully.
"That's why I said it's full of love."
"Still hurts! That's not fair."
Gabriel waved her hands in refusal.
"Then stop talking nonsense next time."
Daniel laughed.
"Putting jokes aside, what should we do after this? Go solo after getting guns? Stay with Uncle Rick? Or… follow Brother Lux? He's actually pretty handsome, and he has lots of girls around him, so we wouldn't have to struggle so hard."
Gabriel asked with a grin.
"You changed your mindset pretty fast. Weren't you strongly against men and women doing that kind of thing before?"
Daniel looked at her younger sister in surprise.
"Hehe, everyone gets what they need. Just like men get ideas when they see beautiful women, women do the same when they see handsome men. Isn't sex nice too?"
Gabriel said carelessly.
"Sigh… If we go solo, then during those few days every month I'll have to rely on you to protect me. It's hard to survive in times like these. Uncle Rick saved the two of us—otherwise we'd have starved long ago. I don't want him to die either. Without our help, Uncle Rick probably won't get very far."
Daniel sighed.
"But the rest of the team is just too useless. They don't even dare to kill a zombie. Aside from Robert and Troy, everyone else trembles the moment they see one. They're completely useless. I have no problem bringing only Uncle Rick, but the others…"
Gabriel pouted in dissatisfaction.
"Sis, be realistic. Are we supposed to keep feeding a bunch of useless teammates forever? I chatted quite well with those older sisters earlier. Brother Lux even gave you that knife—if we want to follow him, he definitely won't refuse."
Gabriel said seriously.
"Give me some time to think. I'll see what Uncle Rick plans to do first, then decide."
Daniel sighed. She did want her sister to be safer, but Rick had also saved their lives. She didn't want to be an ungrateful person who abandoned others the moment she found a stronger team.
---
"Whew, finally done."
M99 wiped the sweat from her forehead. The rear rack of the pickup truck was practically covered in spent shell casings.
"Good work. You two eat some chocolate and go back to the truck to rest. Leave the rest to us."
Lux took out two chocolate bars and handed them to M99 and Candice. The two little girls' eyes immediately lit up—no loli could resist sweets.
After getting back into the vehicle, Lux drove straight toward the militia armory. The pickup jolted from time to time as it ran over zombie corpses.
"Aren't you going to notify Rick and the others?"
Lianne asked, puzzled.
"Are you kidding? We'll enter first and take most of the stuff. Otherwise, wouldn't I be exposing my spatial ability?"
Lux rolled his eyes at Lianne.
"But didn't you tell me right after accepting me into the team? Aren't these people going to be absorbed into the team too?"
Lianne asked, confused.
"You're smart—you know following me is the best choice, so you won't leak my information. But those people… setting Rick aside for now, Daniel is too straightforward. She'd unconsciously leak my information sooner or later. The best way to keep it secret is simply to make sure she never knows."
Lux explained helplessly.
