Suddenly, Harry felt a sharp, stabbing pain in his scar.
Instinctively, he brought his hands to his forehead, and his mind was flooded with memories from a century ago.
A hundred years ago, on September 6, 1891.
It was during the summer holidays of his fifth year. He and some classmates had casually suppressed a goblin rebellion, and on that day, they faced and defeated the goblin leader, Lanlock.
It had been a truly arduous battle; not even the Avada Kedavra hastily cast by Sebastian could harm Lanlock…
"Ugh…" Harry groaned involuntarily from the intense pain in his scar.
"Harry, what's wrong?" asked Ron, concerned.
"Nothing," Harry quickly said, covering his cheek with his hand. "Toothache… my gums are inflamed."
The memories surged back, and he finally remembered how he had returned to 1991.
At the very moment Lanlock, transformed into a dragon, fell to the ground, Harry only had time to conjure a protective shield before being hit by a red light.
When he opened his eyes again, he was back on the staircase at his aunt's house.
In the final part of his memory, he clearly saw the panicked and helpless expressions of Veratia and Cassandra.
"Harry!"
He finally realized that the calls weren't from his aunt, but from the two girls.
"Harry Potter," said Hagrid, seeing that Harry was unharmed, stroking his beard. "Perhaps you've heard of him… I mean, Mr. Potter, from a hundred years ago."
"No," Hermione frowned. "I've read many books, like A History of Modern Magic, The Rise and Fall of the Dark Arts, and Significant Magical Events of the 20th Century, and they only mention our Harry — the savior who defeated Voldemort."
Upon hearing the name Voldemort, Hagrid, Ron, and Neville shuddered in unison.
"Oh, good girl," Hagrid said, biting his lip. "Don't say that name directly — besides, Mr. Potter was a figure from the 19th century, from the modern era. Of course, you won't find his deeds in A History of Modern Magic or Significant Magical Events of the 20th Century."
"Actually," Hagrid added in a low voice, "since he suppressed the goblin rebellion with an iron fist and died alongside the goblin leader Lanlock, the goblins of Gringotts paid dearly to bribe several people to cover his name as much as possible — at least to avoid mentioning him. For a time, before the rise of the Void Man, that codename belonged to Mr. Potter."
Alright, Voldemort, thought Harry, now we have another score to settle!
"Not even the school's history mentions him?" Hermione asked, frowning.
"Otherwise, guess why it's called Hogwarts, 'A Section' of School History?" Hagrid said, spreading his large hands.
So the school's history was also summarized… Hermione nodded, understanding.
"So how do you know about his deeds?" Seamus discovered the flaw.
Hagrid scratched his head. "Of course, Dumbledore told me. Besides, that Mr. Potter was older than him. If he hadn't died with Lanlock, he would have witnessed Dumbledore's Sorting Ceremony in seventh year — of course, Dumbledore said that even he wouldn't have performed better than Mr. Potter."
Ah, that damned issue of seniority, thought Harry.
"He… he really is that powerful?" Ron asked, astonished.
"Ah, of course he is," Hagrid said mysteriously. "There's a legend among the goblins that the 'Mysterious Man' once visited Azkaban, and the Dementors there desperately tried to remember happy moments…"
Harry was speechless. Was I really that terrifying back then? By Merlin's beard! I never used Avada Kedavra on goblins! I just disarmed them, or launched magic at their necks; or turned stones into barrels of gunpowder and threw them in their faces.
Hagrid continued, "But his name is the same as Harry's, isn't that a coincidence?"
"It is," Harry smiled at Hagrid.
"But it's actually not a coincidence," Hagrid said suddenly, seriously.
"Huh?" the children exclaimed in unison.
Harry's heart skipped a beat. Could… Hagrid have discovered something?
"This isn't a coincidence?" Seamus asked, surprised. "Don't be ridiculous, Hagrid. Could that Harry be our Harry?"
"Oh, don't be silly, Seamus," Hagrid said, spreading his arms. "That Mr. Potter died with Lanlock. In the wizarding world at the time, wizards called him the 'Savior' because he not only contained the goblin rebellion, but also, with a few good friends, wiped out the Ash Serpent Gang."
"During the Ash Serpent Gang's attack, not only wizards but even Muggles suffered greatly," Hagrid added.
"So," Hermione looked up, "a hundred years ago there was a 'Harry Potter' who was a savior and saved the wizarding world; and a hundred years later, there's also a savior named 'Harry Potter' who saved the wizarding world?"
"Exactly," Hagrid nodded. "It's no coincidence; it all started with James. At that time, the Void Man — I mean, the Slytherin Void Man — was slaughtering innocents in the wizarding world, and Death Eaters were devastating the entire magical world. Those were truly dark days."
"After careful thought, James Potter decided to name his son Harry Potter," Hagrid recounted, "partly to honor that great savior from a hundred years ago, and also to place his hopes in his son, expecting that he could, like his predecessor of the same name, defeat the Void Man and help the wizarding world emerge from darkness — and, as you've seen, Harry did not disappoint his father."
Harry opened his mouth; he had really not expected his name to come from such a legacy. It seemed like a full circle closing…
"So he isn't a member of the Potter family?" Ron asked, curious.
"Of course not, he was supposedly a Muggle," Hagrid smiled. "But the V-Man doesn't believe it; he insists that person must be pure-blood."
"It's unbelievable that the wizarding world has been saved by two Harry Potters in the last hundred years," Seamus exclaimed.
"So what?" Hermione tossed her messy hair back, placed a hand on Harry's shoulder, and began humming: "Sometimes, in our great island nation, the responsibility falls on one man, who will lead his people out of the Valley of Shadows and into the sunlit heights of peace and prosperity…"
"Cool, where did you learn that?" Ron asked, amazed.
"Yes, Prime Minister," Hermione said. "My dad loves that TV series."
Harry pondered for a moment, then asked Hagrid, "So, Hagrid, where are all Mr. Potter's friends, I mean, those who fought alongside him?"
