Chapter 78 - Chapter 74 — The End of and Era

Sam could only watch in shock. He was almost certain that the villain being filmed was somewhat responsible for his best friend, Charles, losing his quirk.

Sam got out of bed, ignoring the aching wounds.

"Holy shit. What the hell is that guy?"

Rumi's eyes were glued to the screen, watching as the man fights off All Might.

Hearing no words from Sam, she looks over to see him out of his bed.

She was so enamored by what she was watching that she missed Sam exiting the bed.

She saw him walking up to the screen.

He craned his head upwards, towards the corner of the room where the television is installed.

He narrowed his eyes, trying to get as much info on the man.

"Rumi… who is that?"

Rumi was shocked. Not by the question, but by the rage she heard in his tone.

She lightly gulped when she saw his hands clenched.

Sam was still watching the screen.

"I don't know, I told you."

Rumi replied.

Sam stood still, watching the screen, but was unable to get a good look.

Sam could only watch.

'Who are you? Was it you who stole my friend's quirk? If so, I will kill you.'

Sam thought, forcing himself to calm down.

He sat on the bed and Rumi sat on the chair next to him, and they both watched this historic moment.

———

A few hours earlier…

In a dark room, with tubes and other life support devices all around, a man sat on a chair, watching a television screen before him—All for One.

How he was watching it was a mystery as he had no eyes to see with. However, what was more eerie was the sinister smile on his face.

On the TV screen, he watched as Tomura Shigaraki, the leader of the League of Villains, talked with his prisoner, Katsuki Bakugo.

"Tch. I knew this would happen. Leave it to Tomura Shigaraki to pick the worst person to try and convert to villainy."

A voice could be heard from a computer, not far from him.

The man on the chair laughed.

"Give him time. He will be perfect, I assure you, Ujiko."

He said with an ominous smirk.

Ujiko could be heard grumbling from the computer audio.

"As you know, it's almost time for me to make myself known. It's almost time, old friend."

All for One said, tapping his finger against his chair.

"A-Are you sure? In your current state, even I can't predict what could happen to you."

He laughed again.

"Fret not, Doctor. I assure you that everything will be fine. This is what must be done."

Suddenly, the call is interrupted by static.

"Hm?"

He looked back at the computer he was talking to Ujiko from, and saw that it is glitching out.

"What the-"

"Well, well, well. How's it going old timer?"

All for One was, for the first time in a while, surprised.

However, that surprise turned into an eerie calm.

On the screen, was a logo. One he was quite familiar with.

A white handprint.

"I never thought we would chat again. May I ask what you wish to discuss?"

All for One asked, his calm voice masking his annoyance.

However, the voice on the other end merely laughed sadistically.

"Aww, don't be so grouchy you old coot! I'm not gonna cause you too much of a headache, I promise!"

All for One was losing his patience.

"I ask you again, what do you want?"

"No greeting for an old friend? You Jap's are always so serious! Lighten up!"

All for One grasped the side of his chair so hard the metal started bending from his astronomical strength.

"I don't have time for this."

"You planning on having a reunion with that big Boy Scout?"

All for One snarled. Feeling irked that the voice knew of his plan to confront All Might.

"You know what? Spying on me is very rude. It makes me think you might have forgotten the agreement."

The voice snorted.

"Nah, I didn't forget it. I'm not in your precious sushi-loving country. I'm in the most entertaining place on earth still!"

"That's not what my reports state. At the summer camp raid, I received word from my subordinate that another person was present that was not one of them. That person confronted some students and even shot one of them."

The voice hummed.

"The one that was attacked, was none other than Canvas."

The voice stayed silent.

"What is one of your pets doing in my country?"

"Obviously, to retrieve what is mine."

All for One sighed.

"Your concern for some quirkless trash is pitiable. With a quirk as amazing as yours, I'd expect more from you."

The voice laughed maniacally.

"Fool. I promise you one thing. Your over reliance on quirks will be your downfall."

All for One was tired of this.

"What. Do. You. Want?"

———

All for One was so irritated that not far from him, in Kurogiris bar, where Tomura Shigaraki and his league of villains are trying to make Bakugo one of them, everyone there felt a shiver down their spines.

"What the fuck?"

A burnt man with staples on his face had a bead of sweat on his forehead.

"Whoah! I'm shivering!! Sooo cool!!"

A psycho girl in a schoolgirl outfit shivered with a smile and blush on her face.

"Holy shit! I've got chills! It's hot in here!"

A man in a mask, who seemed to have Dissociative Personality Disorder, rubbed his arms for warmth.

"Master…"

Kurogiri set down a wine glass he was cleaning carefully, feeling shaken from the ominous aura washing over him.

"Sensei?"

Tomura Shigaraki looked around, not mistaking that dreadful aura.

Only one person could make him feel this primal fear in his soul.

"Hehehe…"

Tomura Shigaraki lightly laughed.

Katsuki Bakugo, who was still chained up, was shivering and breaking out in sweat. Never in his life did he feel such a sinister feeling in his bones.

He remembered the killing intent Sam washed over him on their first meeting. That pales in comparison to this dreadful feeling.

He looked at Shigaraki, who he was shocked to see also shaking, along with all the other League of Villains.

"It looks like… someone really pissed off my sensei…"

Shigaraki said, terrified—yet amused at the same time.

———

"I told you already. I want my puppy. He was a naughty boy and ran away from home."

The voice said, still sounding amused.

All for One sighed.

"You forget yourself. You stay in Africa. I stay in Asia. That was the agreement."

"Oh please, spare me your sincerity for agreements. We both know that you've been collecting some quirks all over the world."

"Indeed. But I stayed away from that useless continent you find so much joy in ravaging."

"Don't think I'm not aware of your deals with the Chinese government, getting some materials for those beasts you make in return for some quirks."

All for One was now angry. That was a secret he didn't want anyone to know. Especially to the person he was speaking to.

He didn't have much time left. He was certain that All Might was about to arrive with the other heroes to rescue Bakugo. He needed to get ready for this.

"I will allow you to take only Samuel Suzuki. That's it. Once you get him, I expect you to leave and never return."

The voice chuckled.

"That's a good lad! See? I knew you'd be understanding! But don't worry, I don't want anything to do with your home. I sent my pet to retrieve my Canvas. If they don't fuck up, I don't think I'd even need to step foot on your garbage land."

All for One just gritted his teeth.

"You are lucky I have no more time to speak with you. That is the only reason I am conceding this to you. Realize this. I will rule this world. Not today, and not tomorrow. But nothing on this planet will stop me from taking what is mine. Am I clear?"

The voice was silent for a few seconds.

"Crystal."

All for One returned to his calm attitude. All tenseness faded as he relaxed back into his seat.

"Good. Then the matter is settled. Let's hope we never cross paths again… Wushan."

"Likewise, Shigaraki."

The monitor glitched again and the white hand print logo was gone. Immediately after that, Ujiko's voice returned.

"All for One! What happened? I suddenly disconnected? Is everything alright?"

All for One rested his head on his fist, lightly smiling.

"Worry not, Doctor. I just… had a chat with an old acquaintance. That's all."

All for One stood up, and prepared for his grand debut.

"It's almost time… let's end this… All Might."

———

Sam had no doubt about it. All for One was responsible for Charles losing his quirk.

Not long into the fight, the hospital was freaking out over a hero who was in bad condition.

It was none other than Ragdoll of the Wild, Wild Pussycats.

He pried his eyes away from the TV to peek outside.

He saw her on a gurney, but her eyes looked lifeless. As if she had lost a part of herself.

Surprisingly, she was granted the room next to his.

After getting her into her room, Tiger, who was the one to rescue her, was speaking with the doctor.

"Are you sure she isn't injured?!? Why does she look so… dead?!?"

Tiger yelled, making Sam wince from the loud yell.

"I assure you, sir, that she is perfectly healthy! She had no injuries… however, there was one oddity in her genetic data…"

The doctor scratched his head in confusion.

"What?!?"

"Well… it seems she is somehow quirkless now…"

Tiger broke down in tears, mourning his precious friend.

But Sam, who heard every word, was certain.

'All for One stole Charles' quirk. You motherfucker!'

He glared at the screen with a venomous hatred after closing the door and returning to his bed.

He watched the fight and saw All Might shrink until he was back in his deflated form.

"What the fuck?!? What happened to All Might?!?"

Rumi, who was beside him, yelled in shock seeing the deflated hero.

However, Sam just kept watching.

'I don't like you All Might. You've become blind to the suffering of the world to play hero on this one archipelago… but please… win!'

Sam thought in his head.

He gritted his teeth in suspense.

But the end soon came.

"UNITED!!!!!! STATES!!!!! OF!!!!! SMAAAAAAASH!!!!!!!"

Sam felt the ground quake.

Rumi stood up, feeling the whole building shake.

"Whoah!"

Sam could hear the panic of the doctors and nurses outside. They thought they had an earthquake.

But Sam watched in stunned silence. He knew the truth.

"That one punch… it reached all the way over here."

He said in an astonished voice.

But he was brought out of his thoughts a second later as he saw All Might, shrunken entirely, standing, while All for One lay beaten at his feet.

"""YAY!!!!"""

The whole hospital erupted in cheers as people saw All Might save the day.

Suddenly, he pointed at a camera, despite the pain from raising his arm.

"Now! It's your turn!"

He yelled, coughing up blood.

Sam could tell.

This was the final fight for All Might.

"Yes!!! Hell yeah!!"

Rumi jumped in joy, but Sam just stared at All Might and the unconscious All for One.

"This… is the end of an era."

Despite everyone cheering in joy, Sam knew the world was about to change. And not for the better.
