CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

"I can kill for you, my love. They can say I am selfish—yes, I am, when it comes to matters of my heart. I can share anything, but not my Linah. I have waited for so long to hold you in my arms again. No one born of a woman will try to stop me, not even the so-called Prince. You are mine, Linah… mine alone."

Mako said these words while holding Linah tightly, as though the world itself was trying to steal her away from him.

Seeing how jealous and shaken he was, Linah wrapped her arms around him and pulled him closer. She kissed his forehead gently, then cupped his cheeks and looked straight into his troubled eyes.

"My love," she said softly, "no one will ever take me away from you. Our bond is too strong. No mere human can break it. Even the underworld tried with all its might, and it failed. My body and my soul belong to you. After my rebirth, I often wondered why I rejected so many suitors. None of them ever made me feel the way I feel when I am with you."

Those words came straight from Linah's heart, and when Mako heard them, all the anger and fear inside him melted into overwhelming love. He leaned forward and kissed her slowly on the lips. They both savored the kiss, pouring into it all the longing of the time they had spent apart.

After a while, Mako pulled back slightly and spoke in a firm, determined voice.

"I am changing the wedding date. I cannot wait any longer. I want to make you mine officially. I want you to be my wife."

"Tomorrow," he added. "Let us get married tomorrow, my love."

Linah was surprised by his sudden decision.

She knew it was driven by jealousy and fear after what had happened with the Prince, but she did not oppose him. She understood Mako's heart. After a brief silence, she nodded, agreeing to his wish.

Knowing that Mako had left his house without eating because of his jealousy, Linah went to the kitchen to prepare food for him.

As she walked toward the kitchen door, a strange chill ran down her spine. She felt danger—sharp and unfamiliar. She turned quickly, but there was nothing behind her.

She took two more steps.

Then she saw it.

The shadow of a tall man appeared behind her on the wall. A hand stretched out through the darkness, reaching for her. Before she could scream, she heard a familiar voice calling her from outside.

"Linah!"

It was John, Mako's assistant, calling from where Mako's car was parked. The footsteps behind her quickened for a moment, then suddenly retreated. The presence vanished.

Linah felt both relieved and disappointed. Part of her was glad the danger had passed, but another part wished she had caught the intruder to know who he was.

She brought the food to Mako and told him everything that had happened. Mako was deeply troubled. What disturbed him most was the fact that he had not sensed any danger beforehand.

"Whoever this is," Mako said, "is not from the underworld. I would have felt it."

He immediately ordered John to place security guards around Linah's maternal home until the wedding was complete.

That night, Linah and Mako shared the same bed. Linah fell asleep in his arms, feeling safe and loved. When morning came, she woke up still wrapped in him, and she silently wished that the wedding would be rushed so she could wake up like this every day of her life.

Far away, in the evil land, Tonde and Lyold rejoiced, convinced that the defeat of Mako was finally within reach. Yet deep inside Tonde's heart lived greed. He secretly planned to betray the ruler of the evil land and claim Linah's sacred powers for himself.

Using the sacred mirror, they located Linah and Mako and discovered that their wedding was set for the following day. Though they wished to attack during the ceremony, they knew entering the human world would not be easy.

So they searched for a human filled with hatred.

The mirror revealed Prince Cally.

They learned of his humiliation at Mako's hands, and that anger was enough. The dark spirits possessed him, binding him to their will.

Lyold and Tonde knew one truth above all others—so long as Linah and Mako's bond remained strong, they could not destroy them.

Their plan was cruel and calculated: use Prince Cally to violate Linah, believing it would shatter Mako's love and weaken their bond forever.

The following day arrived—

a day meant for love, vows, and destiny.

The wedding was held at a breathtaking private estate near Mako's residence, where luxury met nature in perfect harmony. Tall ancient trees surrounded the open venue, their branches draped with flowing white and silver fabrics that danced gently in the breeze. Crystal lanterns hung above, glowing softly even in daylight.

At the center stood a grand altar decorated with white roses, blue lilies, and touches of gold—symbols of purity, water, power, and eternity. A long white aisle runner stretched across the ground, lined with petals and glowing candles.

The seating area was arranged in elegant rows, chairs covered in white and pale blue silk, each tied with golden ribbons and delicate flowers. The air was filled with the scent of fresh flowers and soft incense, creating a sacred and peaceful atmosphere.

Nearby, the catering area displayed abundance and grace. Long tables draped in white and gold held traditional and modern dishes—rich stews, roasted meats, rice, fresh vegetables, baked bread, and carefully prepared desserts. Crystal glasses sparkled under the light, filled with wine and fresh juices.

Linah prepared in a private room inside the mansion. She wore a flowing white gown adorned with silver beadwork that shimmered like water under moonlight. A delicate crown of pearls and blue stones rested in her hair, honoring her sacred connection to water. She looked radiant, calm, and powerful.

Mako stood tall in a tailored black suit with silver embroidery, his presence commanding and regal. He looked every inch the king he was—strong, protective, and deeply in love.

Everything was ready.

Love stood waiting.

Unaware that darkness was already on its way.
