Chapter 11 - NEW MISSION — CLEARING THE CITY

Chapter 11: New Mission — Clearing the City

[Ding]

[Mission: Survive the Vampire Den]

[Status: Completed.]

[Reward: 10,000 System Points.]

Jeremy barely had time to register the message before another followed.

[Mission: Exterminate the Vampire Den]

[Status: Completed.]

[Reward: Pet Companion.]

His steps slowed.

A pet?

Before he could question it—

[Ding]

[New Mission Available: Extermination — Destroy another vampire den within 24 hours.]

[Reward: ?????]

Jeremy ignored the new mission for now.

Ten thousand system points.

Combined with the points he had earned from killing the remaining vampires, his total climbed to 17,833 system points.

One thought echoed in his mind.

I'm rich.

His gaze shifted back to the second reward.

What exactly is a pet companion? he asked inwardly.

The system answered calmly.

[A hunter should never stand alone. You require a companion—one that is loyal, dependable, and incapable of betrayal.]

Jeremy frowned.

A dog?

[Yes. Man's oldest ally. But not an ordinary one.]

The system continued.

[An immortal hunting companion created for the sole purpose of exterminating supernatural beings.]

Jeremy's irritation flared.

You're telling me I slaughtered an entire vampire den… and my reward is a dog?

Seriously?

[This companion is lethal to all supernatural creatures.]

[Upon maturity, it can kill Originals.]

[It can track any supernatural entity. No concealment, illusion, or cloaking can hide them.]

[It possesses innate magic immunity.]

Jeremy's anger stalled.

[Elemental abilities unlock upon maturity.]

[It has no limited lifespan.]

[If destroyed, it can be resummoned—though all progress will be lost.]

[Its lifespan may be shared with the host once a contract is formed.]

"…Enough," Jeremy muttered. So basically I'm getting an overpowered dog.

He exhaled slowly.

Why didn't I receive missions before?

[The system did not deem previous circumstances worthy of mission designation.]

Fine. Tell me about the new mission.

A faint map flickered at the edge of his vision.

[There are two dominant vampire factions in this city.]

[The den you destroyed… and the Northside Syndicate.]

Jeremy's expression sharpened.

[The Northside Syndicate controls multiple dens across the city.]

[Exterminate any one of their dens within 24 hours to complete the mission.]

[Note: They are a subsidiary of the Strix.]

Jeremy's eyes widened.

The Strix.

He knows that name, in the Originals they were an ancient society of vampires so old and powerful that even the Original family struggled against them.

He smiled slowly.

So you want me to poke a hornet's nest.

Are you trying to get me killed?

[Negative. The system seeks accelerated host growth.]

[You may decline the mission if desired.]

Jeremy scoffed.

Not a chance. With rewards like this, I'll surpass an Original sooner or later.

Show me my status.

Jeremy stared at the screen.

His stats were absurdly high for a human—except for charm.

He smirked.

Less than five days in this world, and he had already reached this level.

But it still wasn't enough.

System, exchange 10,000 system points for stat points.

[Confirmed.]

[1,000 stat points available.]

Increase my endurance to 300. Willpower to 200.

[Confirmed.]

[670 stat points remaining.]

A heavy sensation washed over him.

His skin tightened, becoming denser. Bones thickened, reinforcing themselves from within. His body felt heavier—solid—like it had been wrapped in invisible leather armor.

Then everything returned to normal.

The lingering fatigue vanished entirely.

Jeremy laughed softly.

This feeling wants to make me say that old man phrase in Avengers.

"I can do this all day."

Raise my strength to 300.

[Confirmed.]

[430 stat points remaining.]

Muscle fibers compressed and strengthened. His posture straightened naturally. There was no pain—no strain.

Endurance is doing its job. He thought.

Raise my perception to 300.

[Confirmed.]

[220 stat points remaining.]

[Ding]

[Perception Threshold Reached: 100]

[New Skill Unlocked: Sixth Sense.]

Jeremy froze.

The world… changed.

Sounds sharpened. Air currents brushed against his skin like whispers. He could feel danger before it manifested—like an itch crawling up his spine.

[Sixth Sense allows the host to instinctively detect imminent threats.]

[Ding]

[Perception Threshold Reached: 250]

[New Skill Unlocked: Aura.]

Something spread outward from his body.

Not visible—but tangible.

He could sense presence. Hostility. Killing intent.

Every living thing now left an imprint in his awareness.

[Aura allows the host to perceive living beings, supernatural energy, and hostile intent within range.]

What the fuck…

So stats unlock skills?

What about my other stats?

[Intelligence-based skills were unlocked earlier. Notifications were muted and effects nullified during combat so as not to disrupt combat flow.]

[Intelligence Threshold Reached: 100]

[Skill Unlocked: Tactical Analysis.]

Jeremy's mind sharpened.

Information arranged itself automatically—angles, movement patterns, probabilities.

And with it, he realised he has no combat technique, he was only to win this fight with superior stats. If he was put together with someone with similar stats and knows how to fight, he'd lose badly.

[Tactical Analysis allows the host to evaluate combat scenarios and identify optimal actions.]

[Intelligence Threshold Reached: 250]

[Skill Unlocked: Parallel Focus.]

His thoughts split—cleanly.

One part focused his surroundings. Another still on the system.

[Parallel Focus allows the host to concentrate on multiple tasks simultaneously without loss of efficiency.]

What about my willpower and physical stats?

[Willpower thresholds begin at 250. Physical stat thresholds begin at 500.]

A sharp pulse ran through him.

Someone was approaching.

Jeremy nearly raised a stake before remembering—

John.

"Took you long enough."

He turned just as a crossbow bolt flew toward his head.

To Jeremy, it moved painfully slow.

Even if it hit him, it wouldn't matter. With his defence now, only high calibre and hollow points bullets will be able to pierce his skin.

What was strange was that his skin still felt normal. Flexible. Human.

System, what's a vampire's defense stat?

[Approximately 20. Comparable to humans.]

[They compensate with regeneration.]

That's explains why needles easily pierced their skin. What level of regeneration do the have?

[Intermediate regeneration.]

What about Advanced regeneration?

[It is comparable to Deadpool regeneration. Decapitation is survivable. Total incineration, freezing followed by shattering, or complete bodily destruction results in death. Advance regeneration also stopped ageing. So practically immortal.]

And intermediate regeneration?

[Intermediate regeneration significantly extends lifespan.]

[Advanced regeneration halts aging.]

[Perfect regeneration renders the host practically unkillable unless the soul is destroyed.]

Jeremy caught the bolt.

Then faced John.

"What are you doing, Uncle John?" he asked feigning anger.

"I was startled," John said, still gripping the crossbow. "We need to leave."

"Why?"

"Are you serious?" John snapped, clearly shaken. "We're in a vampire den!"

Jeremy stared at him.

"But They're all dead."

"…What do you mean?" John asked confusedly.

"All of the vampires are dead. Call your people. I want full payment."

Jeremy said as he walked away. John stood frozen as he process what Jeremy had just said. At first he was skeptical but realised he has been moving for twenty minutes without meeting any vampires, he had only seen dessicated corpse on his way. Combined with the explosion he heard before and the occasional screams, he was almost sure Jeremy was telling the truth. Disbelief dawn on his face then fear.

"How did..." John was saying but Jeremy cut him off.

"Oh—and tell them to stay on standby. I'm destroying another den."

He vanished.

John stood frozen as fear wash through his body.

"What the hell are you...?"

----

At the dock entrance, Jeremy sensed the barrier as he passed through thanks to his high perception.

Mountain ash.

Can this be reused?

[Yes. Cost: 500 system points.]

Jeremy groaned then asked.

Can this barrier be broken?

[Yes. It can contain vampires up to 100 years old.]

[200-year-old vampires can break it over time.]

[500-year-old vampires can escape within five minutes.]

[Originals break it almost instantly.]

That's trash.

[It can be upgraded.]

Elaborate.

[Second Tier: Can indefinitely contain vampires up to 500 years old. Becomes invisible.]

[Third Tier: Bound to the host.]

[Any trapped entity must be three times stronger than the host to escape.]

[Barrier can be recalled, redeployed, and selectively bypassed.]

[Only the host can destroy it.]

Wow that's cool I was already thinking of using at home but that would have mean Bonnie won't be able to enter again but now it is different at tier 3. System how much will I spend to upgrade the barrier to the third tier.

[For the amount of Mountain ash used for the dock that will be 5000 system points, 2000 to raise to second and 3000 to raise to third tier.]

So the price varies to the amount of mountain ash. Okay do it and convert 1000 system points to 100 skill points to raise my regeneration to intermediate.

[Confirmed. 1833 system points remaining. 0 skill points remaining.]

The mountain ash responded.

Jeremy felt a connection form—as if the barrier were now part of him. It wrapped around his presence like invisible armor.

So with this no supernatural will be able to get near me but that doesn't they can't use range objects. System will this always be around me?

[You can activate or disactivate It at will.]

That's cool. Show me the den for the mission.

Jeremy's eyes gleamed.

A map unfolded with many locations marked. He chose one and closed the map.

Show me my status.
