Chapter 158 - The Freeloader

Hearing Venti's words, Bonanus let out a sigh of relief. She was truly happy to hear that news.

Even though she had been happy in Mondstadt, meeting all these lovely people, she still wanted to see that shorty again.

That shorty adeptus was probably very worried about her right now.

"I'll be able to return to Liyue soon and get back to my normal life." Bonanus took a sip of her juice, looking relaxed.

"Haha, will you miss your friends in Mondstadt?" Venti said playfully, a teasing smile on his face.

"I have my duties, dear Anemo Archon. I'm not just some ordinary merchant." Bonanus shook her head gently. Don't forget, as one of Morax's five Yakshas, she still had a thousand-year contract to fulfill.

"That's true. Oh! Speaking of which, if one day your contract with that stubborn old man ends, would you consider coming to Mondstadt?" Venti asked seriously.

"Come to Mondstadt for what? A vacation?" Bonanus propped her chin on her right hand, holding her juice glass with her left, looking interested.

"To become a guardian of the wind! It's way more fun here. Everyone is free. We have flowers that symbolize freedom. Much better than your rocks."

"Besides, working under that stubborn old man must be a headache, right? It's normal. The old man has always been like that." Venti joked.

Bonanus shook her head slightly. This unreliable guy really would say anything.

"Come on. If Rex Lapis found out that the great Anemo Archon was secretly trying to poach his people, I wonder what the consequences would be." Bonanus chuckled.

"Ah, you and I both know. We just won't tell him." Venti shrugged, looking smug. Just as Bonanus thought, he was definitely joking.

"Heh..." Bonanus laughed softly and didn't continue. She quietly sipped her juice.

The juice at the Angel's Share was really delicious.

Seeing this, Venti shook his head. To be honest, even if the old man found out, he probably wouldn't say much. With his wisdom, he would guess Venti was just joking.

But back in the old days, the old man would probably have flown over and smacked him away.

Things were different now. The thousand-year-old rock had weathered countless storms. He could see through things quickly and was even more steady than before.

"By the way, how much power does that old fossil still have? When I have time, I'll come visit you guys." Venti asked curiously.

"Why do you ask? Are you planning to sneak in?" Bonanus looked puzzled. Why would the Anemo Archon ask such a question?

"Ehe~ I don't have an excuse to go to Liyue anymore, so I have to sneak in." Venti admitted honestly.

Bonanus covered her mouth and laughed. Talking to this god was really entertaining. The Anemo Archon was both fun and lazy.

But behind the scenes, he did get a lot of real work done.

"Forget it. Rex Lapis will notice you the moment you arrive. And the Yakshas guarding the borders aren't just for show." Bonanus shook her head.

Even if the Anemo Archon was fast, he would definitely be detected. This was the nation protected by Rex Lapis, after all.

"I have my ways." Venti smirked. When the old man had called him to Liyue to take this Yaksha, he had already found a hidden path.

He definitely wouldn't get caught. He would surprise the old man.

"I hope you don't get sent flying." Bonanus shook her head helplessly. This playful, wandering god was hard to believe as an actual deity.

"Don't worry. With my skills and speed, I'll be gone before the old man can hit me." Venti stuck out his tongue, smiled at Bonanus, then turned and waved over a server from the Angel's Share.

Tonight was someone's party. How could he not freeload some drinks?

"Hello, could I get some Dandelion Wine and Apple Cider? Whole bottles, please." Venti's voice was full of cheer. How could he not be happy about free drinks?

The server just nodded. He would record everything ordered and pass the bill to Master Diluc later.

These people were really generous, booking out the whole Angel's Share. It seemed like there were some important people here tonight.

The server thought to himself as he went to the counter, took out a bottle of Dandelion Wine and a bottle of Apple Cider, and then grabbed some glasses from another cabinet.

He placed everything on a tray and carefully carried it over to Venti's table.

After setting everything down, he took a step back, gave a professional smile, and went to attend to other customers.

"This is amazing. I've never gotten a whole bottle before." Venti excitedly poured the wine into his glass and downed it in one gulp.

How long had this drunkard been deprived of wine?

Bonanus thought to herself. If the bottle weren't so big, she was sure Venti would have just chugged it straight from the bottle.

He could probably down the whole thing in one go. He was Venti, after all.

"Hehe, drinking is such a wonderful thing~" Venti took another gulp, his eyes curving into crescents. He looked very happy.

"Freeloader." Bonanus chuckled. Freeloaders existed in every world.

"Aren't you going to try some?" Venti looked up in confusion, as if to say, "How can you resist such fragrant wine?"

"Come on. The identity you gave me is a sixteen-year-old merchant. The Angel's Share doesn't serve minors." Bonanus laughed. She wondered if she should thank Venti for the compliment.

After all, she was actually thousands of years old.

"Such a pity~ Such a pity you can't experience the beauty of wine. Ah~" Venti made a sympathetic face and said in a very annoying tone.

If someone could never touch alcohol in their life, how were they any different from a salted fish?

"Thanks, but I don't need your sympathy." Bonanus wore a mysterious smile. If you looked closely, you could see a vein bulging on her forehead.

Why did Venti's words and tone make her so annoyed? If she could actually fight him, she would probably jump up and do a spinning kick.

Maybe she could throw in a scissor kick and a death choke too.

"You'll drink yourself to death one day." Bonanus crossed her arms. Her body couldn't handle alcohol at all.

What if something happened, like in those cheesy stories, and someone took advantage of her?

"You can't drink, but you can have juice. Here's to that." Venti raised his glass and smiled at Bonanus.

Bonanus raised her half-empty juice glass. They clinked their glasses together and both drank at the same time.

"Enjoy your time in Mondstadt~"
