Chapter 4 - Is It You?

Somewhere within the Chasm—

"I finally found you…"

That was Bonanus's thought as she looked ahead. After searching for so long, she had finally found her eldest brother.

The reason was simple—this was the only place in the area with a visible light source. It stood out immediately.

Bonanus looked at Bosacius. His condition was terrible. The fact that he was still sitting there was only because he was forcing himself onward with the last remnants of his will.

"Huh? Your memory again—who's Bonanus? You—"

Boyang hadn't noticed Bonanus at all. He thought Bosacius was calling for him. And even if he had noticed, he would have assumed she was nothing more than a hallucination.

Hallucinations were normal in this place. Boyang already believed he was close to losing his mind.

"In this state… I'm really in no shape to see you…"

At those words, Bosacius seemed to remember everything. His voice began to choke. Though weak, the sorrow in it was unmistakable.

"I'm sorry… I clearly promised Menogias… promised I'd protect all three of you…"

He clenched his teeth. The more he thought about it, the greater the pain became.

Though he hadn't been present when his siblings died, he felt it.

To prevent tragedy, he had always been able to sense when a Yaksha was in danger—rushing to their aid as quickly as possible.

He saw Menogias and Bonanus destroy each other.

Even though… those two had been the gentlest and most easygoing among the five.

He saw Indarias lose herself to karmic debt. To avoid harming others, she burned herself alive with her own flames.

She should never have feared fire.

Yet that once-bright, cheerful woman became a screaming monster.

He also saw Alatus overwhelmed by karmic debt—falling into unconsciousness, even madness.

And yet, he could do nothing.

As the eldest, the karmic burden he carried was no less than theirs. In the end, he lost his memories as well.

His brothers and sisters were all gone.

It seemed… his own end was near as well.

And now—

The sister he cherished most had come to find him.

She had come to take him home.

"I remember now… you are the ones I cared about the most…"

Bosacius was drowning in pain, trapped in endless self-reproach for failing to save his family.

"Brother! Brother! Hang on!"

Boyang still hadn't noticed Bonanus. His entire focus was on Bosacius.

Beside them—

Bonanus stood silently, tears streaming down her face.

She was Bonanus.

So she could feel his pain completely.

Seeing her brother like this, she clenched her teeth and immediately opened the storage within the Water-Moon Ring, searching for something—anything useful from the beginner's gift.

She had to save him.

Just as she was searching, Bosacius slowly raised the upper-left of his four arms and pointed into the distance.

"Look… there's someone over there…"

Boyang followed his gaze—and finally saw a blue-haired girl standing not far away.

"That person is…?" Boyang asked, confused.

"That person… cough…"

Bosacius coughed violently. Blood flowed beneath his mask.

"That person… is the gentlest… of the four I swore to protect…"

As he said, "gentlest," a faint smile appeared beneath the mask.

His little sister had always been like that—just like Menogias.

Gentle souls.

He remembered more now.

Menogias once handed him his clothes, telling him to dress properly. He had ignored it, hands on his hips.

Indarias always boasted about surpassing him, calling herself the future leader, always calling him "big brother."

Bonanus would puff out her cheeks in frustration whenever he refused to listen.

And Alatus…

He laughed softly.

He had loved pulling pranks on him while he slept.

They had fought wars together. Slaughtered enemies together. Endured karmic debt together.

They played cards together. Relaxed together. Played pranks together.

"…We really were childish," he thought.

So old—yet still fooling around.

As these memories surfaced, Bosacius slowly closed his eyes.

So he did have a family.

How fortunate…

Just as he was quietly reliving those memories at the edge of death, Bonanus finally pulled the healing pill from the Water-Moon Ring.

"Found it!"

She rushed to his side.

Boyang froze.

This wasn't a hallucination.

This was a living person.

But the Chasm was sealed.

No one should have been able to enter.

The suppression array—the Perilous Circlet—wasn't something that could be broken easily.

"Who are you?" Boyang asked cautiously.

Yet he wasn't afraid.

Bosacius had said she was one of the people he cherished most.

That was enough.

Bonanus didn't answer.

She carefully lowered Bosacius to the ground, adjusting him into the most comfortable position she could manage.

"Bonanus… is that really you?"

His fading eyes caught sight of a blurry blue figure.

He was certain.

The warmth of her touch was real.

And those massive, sharp claws—

Yes.

He remembered.

Bonanus hadn't originally had hands like these.

A secret art had been sealed within her body.

Those claws were a side effect.

They became her weapons.

But…

Why was she here?

"Big Brother Bosacius! It's me! I came to find you!"

Bonanus tightly held his pale hand.

"You… you need to leave… this place… isn't where you should be…"

He grew agitated.

If his sister was still alive, then she must not remain here.

Boyang watched quietly.

She removed Bosacius's mask, took out the pale red pill, and held it carefully between her claws—so gently, afraid she might crush it.

"Big Brother, be good. Take this."

She placed it at his lips.

He couldn't move.

Bonanus took a deep breath and gently pried his mouth open, slipping the pill inside with utmost care.

Inside her heart—

You're a high-grade healing pill. So act like it.

Sleeping for a few hundred years is nothing. Big Brother can endure it.
