John analyzed Vorten's movements and struck first, dodging
the heavy blade and impaling him—
Suddenly, John hit the ground.
Tod stood between them.
"I told you not to use your full power," Tod said sternly.
"I—I'm sorry, Elder Brother."
"Only use it in real danger. Not training."
Tod vanished as quickly as he arrived.
Mr. Lewis cleared his throat.
"The winner of Battle One is John Hirozime."
"It was just luck!" Vorten shouted as he stormed off.
"Battle Two ends in a draw. Well done."
As the students returned to class, whispers filled the room.
John Hirozime had defeated Vorten.
And his name began spreading through the academy.
