Before anyone else could speak, Zarek's voice boomed across the hall. "Enough," he commanded, his eyes burning with anger as he looked at his mother. "Breakfast is served. Eat."
The dining hall became very quiet and everyone began to eat their food in silence.
Eliora pushed her food around on her plate. She didn't feel hungry. When she looked at Zarek, she could see how stiff his shoulders were. Something was wrong. She could feel it through the bond.
Just then, he lifted his head and their eyes met. For a few seconds, neither of them looked away.
Zarek's hard expression softened just a little bit before she looked away.
She glanced across the table and say Aldric's face.
"Aldric." she called.
"Yes, your majesty." He answered.
"Why do you look so pale? And where have you been? I haven't seen you in a long time." Eliora said with a look of concern on her face.
