Chapter 137 - Unexpected

"Stop fooling around," Li Jordan interrupted the twins' playful antics, turning to Albert and asking, "Can it be fixed?"

"It's hard to say, we'll have to try to find out." Albert stuffed the biography of Yurik into his backpack, looked at the twins who were still bickering, and reminded them, "If the book can't be fixed, you don't need to return it."

"Why?" George asked, looking completely bewildered.

"Needless to say, if Mrs. Pince found out about your behavior, she definitely wouldn't let you into the library anymore," Albert said irritably. "At worst, you won't be able to borrow books from the library anymore if you don't return them."

Many of the homework assignments given by Hogwarts professors require students to find information in the library themselves. If they are not allowed to enter the library, the result is predictable: they will not be able to complete their homework properly.

"Oh right, you haven't finished your History of Magic assignments yet, have you? They're due tomorrow," Albert casually reminded him. "Don't forget about it."

"Ah! Don't bring this up!"

The three of them seemed to suddenly remember this, and let out a collective groan. They had no choice but to hurry back to the library to continue doing their boring homework.

Albert watched the three figures disappear into the distance, shaking his head almost imperceptibly. He glanced at the so-called treasure map in his hand, then turned and headed back to his Gryffindor dormitory.

"It actually failed?"

The damage to the pages of "Yurik's Biography" was not repaired by the restoration spell.

Albert initially thought his spell had failed, but he tried other papers and found that he could still successfully repair them. But... why did he fail when repairing the book?

"I really don't understand," Albert muttered, staring at the book in front of him. He picked it up and carefully flipped through it, trying to find something unusual about it.

"The Biography of Yurik" was written by Radolf Peterman, a book Albert read recently: Yurik came from Ravenclaw College and his behavior was very eccentric. In memory of his eccentric behavior, short biographical stories about him were published on Chocolate Frog posters.

According to the book, Yurik's behavior was very strange.

Moreover, for a time, Yurik tried to prove that the calls of the Evil Bird were beneficial to human health, and listened to the Evil Bird's calls for three months straight... It is well known that the Evil Bird's chirping can drive people crazy.

There was nothing special about the book, and Albert still couldn't understand why the spell had failed.

He placed the book on his shelf, then suddenly remembered something. He took the parchment out of his pocket, stared at it for a long time, and prepared to put it back into the book.

However, Albert paused, drew his wand from his pocket, lightly touched the map, and said, "Reveal your secret!"

Nothing happened?

"Hmm, I was just being paranoid." Albert picked up the parchment, looked at its contents, and fell into a brief silence.

"Sure enough, spending too much time with Fred and the others has made me a bit of a goofball," Albert said with a self-deprecating laugh, stuffing the parchment back into the book and turning to leave the dormitory.

Little did he know that the parchment that had been tucked back into the book when he left had undergone some subtle changes.

As soon as Albert entered the common room, he noticed someone waving at him.

"Anderson." It was a large woman who called out to him, standing imposingly in front of Albert.

"What's wrong?" Albert was already quite tall for his age, but compared to the girl in front of him, he was a full half head shorter.

"That was really tough. I've been looking for you for ages," the girl said, seemingly with some displeasure. "Here, your letter."

"A letter?" Albert looked puzzled, but still took the note from the other party and didn't forget to say thank you.

"Professor Brod asked me to tell you that if you have time, it would be best to go to his office before eight o'clock tonight."

"Oh, I know. Here, have some candy." Albert casually took a few candies out of his pocket and handed them to the other person.

The girl was looking at Albert with curiosity, as if trying to figure something out.

"What's wrong?" Albert noticed the scrutinizing gaze and frowned slightly.

"I really like chocolate flavor." The other person didn't refuse Albert's candy, peeled one and popped it into their mouth. "Everyone says you're a genius, lucky Albert."

Albert paused, his hand about to open the note, and looked up at her in astonishment.

"I wouldn't call myself a genius; I just worked a little harder than others." Albert raised his hand and gestured with his thumb and forefinger to indicate a little bit.

"Haha, you're really funny." The girl reached out and patted Albert on the shoulder. "Keep up the good work and make sure you outdo Ezebel McDougal."

Albert winced in pain, feeling as if his shoulder was about to be dislocated from the blows.

"Thank you for the candy, it's quite delicious." She said, then turned and left.

"What, you've actually hooked up with Cragg?" Albert, who was rubbing his shoulders, suddenly heard a voice in his ear. Power hitter Erin appeared behind him without warning.

"Krag?" Albert was taken aback when he heard the name, but then he realized what was going on and explained, "She sent me a letter. Professor Broad seems to have something to discuss with me."

Albert opened the note, which contained similar information to what Cragg had said. He took out his pocket watch to check the time, then said goodbye to Eileen and hurriedly left.

"What does Professor Brod want with me?" Albert was puzzled, but he still decided to go to the Defense Against the Dark Arts office to see what was going on.

A few minutes later, in front of the Defense Against the Dark Arts office, Albert took a deep breath and knocked on the wooden door.

"Come in."

The person who opened the door for him was a middle-aged wizard in his fifties, wearing glasses, with slightly messy red hair and a gentle smile on his face.

Albert froze, his gaze passing over the middle-aged wizard and landing in the office, but he didn't see Professor Broad. He asked in confusion, "Where is Professor Broad?"

"He just went to the library and will be back soon," the middle-aged wizard said with a smile. "Browd told me that if you come, he'll let you in, and he'll be back soon."

"Professor Brod wants to see me?" Albert secretly sized up the wizard in front of him, his gaze sweeping over the messy parchment on the table.

"Yes, it's related to ancient runes. Brod thinks you can offer us some help." The middle-aged wizard sat on the sofa opposite Albert. "I've seen your translations of those ancient runes, and to be honest, they're amazing."

Albert looked surprised for a moment; he had never really thought of it that way before.

"Oh right, I haven't introduced myself yet. My name is Mog, Mog McDoug." The middle-aged wizard suddenly introduced himself. "Nice to meet you."
