Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

We decide to stay at the inn for the day. Not only because I'm tired, but also because I need privacy—the gacha has rewarded me with more tickets. When I reach my room, I summon the gacha and smile faintly.

Change the fate of a small, known character: 1 Silver Ticket

Gain a Shield Companion: 2 Bronze Tickets

I hum and use the bronze tickets first. I press the roll button and watch the wheel spin. After a few seconds, it stops and shows me my reward.

[Chauffeur]

Common Familiar

This familiar, when called, summons a very luxurious limousine driven by a golem driver that will drive you anywhere you specify it can reach before driving off and vanishing the moment it goes out of sight. If the car and/or the driver are destroyed, this familiar will enter a 24-hour cooldown.

This… this is great! With this, we don't have to worry about travel anymore. Not only that, it will significantly shorten the time between when we are going from one city to another. Not only that, we can sleep inside instead of pitching a tent every night.

I press the roll button again and wait.

[Match]

Trash Ability

Allows you to light a small flame on your fingers, but it barely qualifies as a lighter.

Really? It's not very useful, but at least I won't need to worry about starting a campfire. I can light sticks and wood easily enough with this ability.

With a hum, I use my only silver ticket and watch the wheel spin. After a few seconds, I grin at the result.

[Alteration]

Rare Ability

Fate - Allows you to alter the shape and structure of an object you are touching, such as making it sharper, more blunt, and increasing its length. You could turn a sword into a polearm while still keeping all of its abilities.

Perfect. I can increase Gae Budhie's length with this ability. It's already sharp enough, but if I can make it even sharper… it becomes far deadlier. Sadly, I don't know if this ability works with Noble Phantasm. Wait. Shirou is able to change a Noble Phantasm, right? That is how he created something called the Broken Noble Phantasm, which explodes on impact, if my memory serves me right.

As I slot this into my Ability Slot, I realize it also works with [Stone Bullet], since the stones I conjure can be modified without direct contact using this ability.

I can create extremely durable, sharp stones, then shoot them at lethal speed. Not yet reaching bullet speed, but almost.

Sadly, I only have one ability slot.

Dammit! Is there a way to unlock more? The system doesn't tell me anything. I sigh and shake my head. I'll think about it later. Right now, I need sleep. It's been a long day.

I flop onto the simple bed and let darkness take me.

== Line Break ==

I finish the bowl of beef stew and sigh contentedly. Breakfast is filling, warm, and delicious. Orgnar might look like a grumpy warrior, but he's a great cook.

Today's menu is beef stew, seared cod, pickled cucumbers, goat and cow cheese, and fresh bread. Heavy for breakfast, but this is the Middle Ages. People eat like this to survive hard labor all day.

The only thing missing is fresh vegetables. They cook almost everything. It's not bad, but my modern tastes crave something raw and fresh. I will search for fruit when we reach Whiterun.

I set the bowl down and look at Sisilia.

"Are you done, Sisilia?"

"Yes, my lord. I am ready to depart. Once again, I apologize for waking up late."

I wave it off.

"Don't worry about it. You needed the rest."

By the time she woke up, the others had already left Riverwood. We're the only ones still here. I don't mind. There's no rush, and I'd rather travel at a relaxed pace. I will let the Dragonborn handle all the early problems while Sisilia and I enjoy our journey.

"Thank you, my lord. Where are we going first?"

"Whiterun. We'll deliver the bounty. After that… we can take more from the Jarl, I guess. I am the type of person who lets the wind take me."

"I understand. There will be plenty of bounties going around. The civil war has left many forts in bandit hands, and the Jarl is willing to pay well to reclaim them without risking his men. They would rather have their men prepare for the upcoming civil war than waste them on cleaning the land of the filth that know nothing but causing problems."

"Then we have a plan."

I turn to Orgnar. I give him a smile and say.

"We're leaving now. Thank you for the food and the room."

He grunts and waves a hand. I chuckle and take my spear. He even gives me a cloth to cover the tip, as required by law. He is truly a softy on the inside. Nord and their grumpy nature.

We leave the inn and see others already at work. I greet the people outside, and we take the road toward Whiterun.

As we walk, I glance at Sisilia.

"Tell me about yourself."

"Hm? There's nothing interesting about me, my lord. I was born in Bruma, near the Skyrim border. The climate is similar, but less harsh. Many Nords live there, but they follow Imperial traditions. My father was an Imperial captain, which is why I joined the Guard. Training was hard, but fulfilling. Maybe it's my Nordic blood, but I loved the sparring and war games. After ten years, I became a captain and was assigned to General Tullius. It was an honor. I receive even more honor when my team is able to capture Ulfric, but then the dragon appears, and you know the rest."

"I see."

"And you, my lord?"

"Well, my life is even more boring—"

I tell her about the background the gacha gave me. We continue chatting as we pass Honningbrew Meadery and reach Pelagia Farm. However, we stop when we hear a roar and shouts from the distance.

We look at the source, and find three people are fighting a giant.

The giant itself is five meters tall. According to my memory, this must be a leader of the pack. They are usually taller and stronger than regular giants.

The situation in front of me is rather familiar. It's where players first meet the Companions for the first time.

But… why are they still fighting? Where's the Dragonborn? He should be the one helping them, right?

Urgh. No time to think. I need to help them.

"Sisilia, let's help them."

"Yes, my lord!"

I tear the cloth from my spear and rush forward just as the giant raises its club over Aela. I thrust and deflect the blow. Sisilia steps beside me, shield raised.

"Are you alright?"

Aela grits her teeth.

"My arm's broken."

"Then stay back. We'll handle it."

Farkas and Ria move in with Sisilia, surrounding the giant. I leap and drive my spear into its neck. It roars and swings at me. I block, but the force throws me aside.

I rise just in time to see Sisilia block another blow while Farkas and Ria slash its legs. I dash forward. My spear cuts through its flesh like butter.

Diarmud might use this weapon when there is no danger, but that doesn't make this spear weak or useless. Not only does this spear stop any regeneration someone has when they get hurt by this spear, but it is also supernaturally sharp. This spear was gifted by Manannán mac Lir himself, after all.

I leap from the giant's arm and drive my spear into its neck again. I move my spear deeper and cut through its flesh. It thrashes wildly, trying to throw me away. I wrench my weapon free and jump back.

Blood sprays everywhere from the wound I made. It even falls on me as I land on the ground.

After a few moments, the giant collapses. We approach carefully. When it doesn't move, I finally sigh in relief.
