Chapter 70: No More Endurance
Sakura and Ino looked at Naruto with confusion and worry. They didn't understand why he had done it.
Killing a ninja from your own village was a serious crime. To resort to murder over a few insults seemed unthinkable to them.
What they also didn't understand was why—if they were all from the same village—the villagers held so much hostility toward Naruto.
But they didn't know at all.
Naruto hadn't been driven to this point by just this one insult.
No—it had been three years.
Three years of enduring this scene, over and over again.
Countless malice. Vicious words. Speculation. Abuse. Time and time again, all of it piled onto Naruto.
Until this very moment—Naruto had finally snapped.
He decided he wouldn't endure it anymore. Anyone who turned on him—he would kill.
What had he done wrong?
No. Nothing. He had done nothing wrong.
In fact, he was innocent.
Naruto took a deep breath and stared at the fleeing villagers with cold eyes.
At that moment, Senbonzakura spun and landed in Naruto's hand. Then, Naruto prepared to step forward again and continue killing.
Seeing that Naruto wanted to strike again, Sakura and Ino ran over and tried to stop him.
Ino spoke with deep worry:
"Naruto, don't kill any more. If you keep going like this, there's no turning back!"
Hearing Ino's words, Naruto sneered.
Turning back?
What was there to turn back to?
To save the village?
Ridiculous.
Now that the killing had started, Naruto had no intention of stopping.
At this moment, let Konoha feel pain.
Thinking this, Naruto ignored Ino and Sakura's attempts to block him. He dodged past them.
Then, Naruto appeared in front of the fleeing villagers. He swung down.
The villagers who had been so arrogant, who had insulted Naruto moments ago—when they saw the blade about to fall, their faces twisted into expressions of pure terror.
Before they could say anything, the sword light fell.
Senbonzakura came down. Several villagers died instantly.
Naruto didn't stop. He was ready to kill more.
Just as he was about to strike again—suddenly, several black figures flashed by.
Those black figures were extremely fast and powerful. In the blink of an eye, they appeared around Naruto and surrounded him.
Naruto frowned. With a glance, he could see them clearly.
Each figure wore a black combat suit, a mask on their face, and a short sword on their back.
Clearly—they were either Konoha ANBU or Root operatives.
Seeing them, Naruto snorted coldly. The killing intent in his eyes grew even stronger.
Because what he wanted to kill wasn't just those villagers who had abused him. He also wanted to kill the high-ranking officials who had always schemed against him, who had single-handedly caused him to experience such a dark childhood.
Now that the killing had begun—Naruto would settle everything.
He would never let go of anyone who had betrayed him.
But the black-clad ANBU didn't seem to notice the killing intent in Naruto's eyes.
They didn't seem to know what had happened here. All they saw was Naruto holding his Zanpakuto, surrounded by fleeing villagers while the genin stood nearby.
Then, the team captain stepped forward and said in a cold voice:
"Uzumaki Naruto, Lord Danzo has summoned you."
Naruto frowned. So these are Danzo's people.
Danzo's people appearing here—were they planning to do something to him?
That's right. This group was exactly the Root operatives Danzo had sent out not long ago to capture Naruto.
Naruto didn't reply. Instead, he gripped his Zanpakuto even tighter.
The surrounding Root members seemed to notice Naruto's stance. The captain frowned even more and said:
"Uzumaki Naruto, what are you doing? Didn't you hear me? Lord Danzo wants to see you."
Naruto still didn't speak.
"Are you defying Lord Danzo's orders? How insolent!" the captain said coldly, his voice filled with anger when Naruto didn't respond.
But this time, Naruto spoke.
Naruto sneered. His eyes were cold as he looked at the Root members before him with clear killing intent. He said calmly:
"You're the ones who are insolent."
After speaking, Naruto's pupils instantly turned blood red.
The three tomoe spun, as if answering Naruto's killing intent. At that moment—they activated.
In an instant, a massive surge of killing intent exploded outward.
The Root ninjas around him suddenly felt disoriented.
It was like an illusion had taken hold of their bodies. Their entire bodies went weak, and their chakra began to spiral out of control.
Then—Naruto's figure flickered. The flash of his blade followed. Fast as an afterimage.
Everyone only heard the sounds: puff, puff, puff.
Then, everyone watched in horror.
On those Root ninjas, countless slash marks appeared. Blood splattered everywhere. Large and small wounds covered their bodies. They died instantly.
One strike.
Not a single survivor. In the blink of an eye, Naruto had taken them all down.
He had eliminated every single Root ninja.
And those Root ninjas—in their final moments—looked at Naruto in horror.
They never imagined Naruto's strength would be so terrifying.
The blade had moved so fast that none of them could see it clearly.
Some of the slower Root ninjas finally noticed Naruto's scarlet Sharingan.
But in the end, all they could do was point at Naruto and stammer out a terrified voice:
"Those... those eyes..."
They couldn't even finish.
In the next moment—
All the Root ninjas collapsed.
Blood flowed. Every single one of them was killed on the spot.
Sakura and Ino watched this scene. Their mouths hung open in astonishment. They couldn't believe it.
They hadn't expected Naruto to attack ninja from his own village. And ANBU, no less.
They also hadn't expected Naruto's strength to be so immense.
Even ANBU operatives were no match for him.
They had been taken down in an instant.
Ino raised a trembling hand, pointed at the corpses covering the ground, and said in a panic:
"Naruto... Naruto... why did you kill them all..."
Sakura was already too panicked to speak.
Earlier, they had seen how powerful these black-clad ANBU seemed. But in Naruto's hands, they were like ants—vulnerable to a single blow.
Naruto didn't answer Ino's question. He looked ahead indifferently.
Because Ino didn't know at all that these Root operatives had come with malicious intent.
They had been planning to do something to Naruto. They wanted to capture him—to kill him.
And Naruto had simply struck first.
