High up in the sky it stood, a corpse with white fur what once would have been a living being now an empty shell. Its face contorted into a smile filled to the brim with needle-like teeth. On its forehead two holes where antlers used to grow from.
What a beautiful city, it thought as it turned its head towards the prison near it.
Things have progressed unexpectedly! The thing began to scratch its chin, Who would have thought this woman was so heartless.
It then stretched out its limps, Thank you Beleth, for being my ears although I cannot help you to escape. At this point there is still work to be done in this city.
Black clouds eclipsed the moon as strong winds blew, winds so powerful they began to rip the thing apart, first its finger then its hands. Each piece ripped slowly without a single drop of blood coming out the fresh wounds. I guess this is the end for this piece of flesh.
It looked down to the last glimpses of light that befel the city; they illuminated only a deep shadow that moved through the streets.
You better do your part in all of this, Noir.
Conrad fell through the air keeping himself close to the side of the prison, his fingers still glowing faintly. Halfway towards the ground he reached out and planted his hand inside the stone slowly killing his momentum and creating a scar in the wall.
He stopped right before the ground, a mere thirty meters away from it, a fall he could definitely survive even with a cold on his back.
Beleth had gone silent only his quickened breathing creating some semblance of a sound. The boy had latched itself onto Conrad so hard the man felt like he was being crushed, so hard it was hard for him to take a breath.
Breathing heavily Conrad patted Beleth's head, "Are you alright?"
"Mhm"
"Good." He looked down, "Now listen, I am about to jump to the ground. The landing might shake you a little. Once we land I explain what will happen next."
"Yes sir." He responded weakly.
Conrad began preparing himself to jump, suddenly a strong wind blew sending snowflakes as the boy tightened his grip even further.
"Bel, what happened !?!" The man yelled out.
"He… he is here." The boy whimpered. Just as he did Conrad turned to the moon, as an unexplainable fear overcame his body, in mere moments black clouds covered up the celestial body far in the sky.
"This is not supposed to happen!" An even stronger wind blew.
Multiple waves coming from every direction, aimless and powerful they pushed the man like a dirty rag that barely held to the cliff.
Damn it all, he thought as he let go.
Thrashed by the powerful winds Conrad swayed towards some trees, his back pointing towards them.
Whilst in free fall the man did the only thing he could think of. He steeled himself and tipped off his pinky finger, the soul of the world sealed within poured out. The pain was immense, the release of energy was insanely quick, he had not been prepared for the pain to spread up his arm, to the side of his head and chest.
It was like being squeezed and torched at the same time.
Using what remained of his will Conrad constructed a sphere of blue energy around himself and the boy. Beleth began to tremble as if he was allergic to that very energy.
When it came into contact with the sphere, the tree shattered as if it was made by the lowest quality of glass, and so did everything else that came into contact with it. It was not long before they reached the ground.
Damn you mother! He looked at his bleeding hand, This is far more painful than you told me it was.
As soon as the sphere disappeared Beleth let go and pushed himself away from Conrad. On the ground nearby the boy began to vomit. The snow beneath was dyed red from the blood that escaped his mouth.
Conrad immediately went to him, "What is wrong?"
Out of breath the boy tried to speak but couldn't, only mumbles escaping from his lips. "Father…"
"Wait." Conrad helped him sit on the ground, "Breathe, slow and carefully, speak only when you regain your breath."
"Tha.. power. It is poison." Beleth finally let out.
A short lived moment a relief washed over Conrad.
A familiar figure shattered the peace that existed only for a mere moment in his head.
Her grey hair flowed gracefully as if the wind was orchestrated to showcase her beauty. Clad in a black robe with plated armor underneath, she stood silent, staring Conrad in the eyes. Her left arm resting upon the saber tied to her waist.
Damn it. He paced himself between the woman and Beleth, the luck of a traitor I have today. "You are early, Silistra."
