Chapter 55 - Chapter 52 — The Night Felt Like Home

Chapter 52 — The Night Felt Like Home 🌙💞

( I have uploaded two chapters today because I haven't uploaded for so much time)

By evening, the rain had stopped completely.

The sky outside was silver and soft, like the world had taken a deep breath after days of chaos.

Jay helped Keigen set the table while Keiren tried (and failed) to fold napkins properly.

"Keiren, that's not a swan. That's… I don't even know what that is," Jay teased, laughing.

"It's abstract art, Ate Jay!" he said proudly, holding up the crumpled napkin.

Keifer chuckled from the kitchen, flipping something in the pan. "Don't encourage him, love. He'll try to sell that napkin for a million someday."

Jay smiled, shaking her head. "He probably will. You Watson boys are all the same."

"Handsome, talented, charming?" Keifer smirked.

"Annoying," she shot back immediately, making Keiren and Keigen burst into laughter.

For the first time in a long while, the house was full of lighthearted noise — laughter, clinking plates, the smell of dinner, and that warm kind of happiness that couldn't be faked.

☁️

After dinner, Keiren and Keigen ran upstairs, yelling something about a video game challenge. Jay helped Keifer clean up, drying dishes while he washed.

"You really didn't have to help," he said softly.

"I wanted to," Jay replied, glancing at him. "It feels nice… doing something normal."

Keifer smiled at her, quiet for a moment. "You know what feels nice for me?"

"What?"

He looked at her — that look, the one that always melted her heart without warning.

"This. You here. In this kitchen. Laughing with my brothers. Making this house feel like home again."

Jay blinked, feeling her throat tighten. "Keifer…"

He turned off the tap, wiped his hands, and stepped closer — not too close, just enough that she could feel the warmth between them.

"You don't even realize it, do you?" he whispered. "How much peace you bring into everything you touch."

Jay's chest felt heavy in the best way. "You're being emotional again," she said softly.

He smiled, brushing his thumb over her knuckles. "Maybe. But it's true."

There was silence — a soft, warm kind that didn't need to be filled.

Then Jay whispered, "You make me feel safe, Keifer. I don't say that enough."

That broke him a little — in the most beautiful way. He pulled her into a slow hug, resting his chin on her head.

"You don't have to say it, love. Just stay."

Jay smiled against his chest. "I'm not going anywhere."

💞

Later that night, they sat on the balcony — a single blanket shared between them, stars peeking through the clearing sky.

"Finally," Keifer murmured. "No thunder, no chaos… just us."

Jay leaned on his shoulder. "It feels… right."

He tilted her chin gently. "You know what else feels right?"

Jay gave him that warning look. "Don't you dare say something flirty—"

He laughed softly and kissed her anyway — slow, sweet, and quiet.

The kind of kiss that said thank you for being here.

When they pulled apart, Jay smiled softly. "You really can't help yourself, can you?"

"Nope," he said, kissing her forehead this time. "Not when it comes to you."

☁️

And there they stayed — two hearts that had been through too much, finally wrapped in peace, laughter, and love that felt like forever. 🌙💞
