Chapter 4 - CH4

- GENIE -

"What are you trying to do, Leo? Scare me into staying with you?" I chuckled mockingly. "You are dreaming if you think that's what is going to happen."

He took a long look at me and he clicked his tongue. "You idiot." He threw my face away and gave me his back. "Do you think you are that important? Do you really believe I love you so much, I'm obsessed?" He laughed at me, his crackle made me suddenly feel so worthless. "Oh my dear Genie, I slept with your mother for god's sake. Isn't that enough for you to tell that you mean nothing?"

He turned back to look at my face already covered in tears. I had clenched my teeth, but even that could not hide the pain in my eyes.

"Don't look at me like that. Technically, you brought this upon yourself. I'm a monster; I can't help but be myself. You, on the other hand, should have listened to your father and stayed away from me. But you didn't. Even after you married me, instead of keeping your eyes shut and pretending like you don't see anything so you can live in that fantasy of yours, no, you just had to ruin it."

"Anyway," he gave himself a seat right next to Savor, who was lying unconscious on the floor. "Since you want to leave me then I will just have to take what I wanted from the very beginning." He picked up a file placed on the table beside him and threw it next to me.

I glanced at the document. I didn't really need to look too much to know what it was. "I'm not signing this! You will have to kill me to make me sign my companies over to you."

The man behind me grabbed my hair and yanked me off the ground. I screamed but it fell on deaf ears. He dragged me along the floor and threw me at Leo's feet. Leo gripped my chin and squeezed so tight, his fingers literally dug into my skin. He pinned his gun to my forehead.

"I wouldn't defy me if I were you. Do you really think I won't kill you?" he hissed. "The last person who tried to stop me from getting what I want, was your useless father. Look how he ended up. I wouldn't make the same mistake if I were you."

My heart sank.

Suddenly I forgot how to breathe. I stared at him, trying to make sense of what he said. 'Did he just tell me he killed Dad?' The disbelief I felt soon morphed into anger and pain. I yelled at him, swinging my nails at him. He hit them off with his gun and he put it right onto my head, cocking it.

"Don't you even think about doing anything stupid. I'm trying really hard not to blow your brains." He jerked me off, and I landed on my hands, scrapping them at the same time. He stood up, keeping his gun close to the back of my head. I trembled, pursing my lips so tight, but you could still hear me whimper. Maybe he really was going to kill me. My only chance of getting out of here, was signing those documents.

My eyes rolled to the file lying before me, a pen placed nicely in the middle. I let out a shaky breath. This was the only thing I could really do to save myself.

I crawled up to the document on the floor and picked up the pen. I took a few short breaths, calming myself enough to hold the bic and sign with it. The big hefty guy in front of me snatched the file away immediately I was finished. He went around me, and he handed the files to Leo. Leo ran his eyes through the papers and then made a satisfied grin. He passed the file to another one of his men, who carefully bagged it. His gaze returned to mine.

"Get rid of her."

My eyes widened. I scurried away from him immediately, trying to find my feet or something. My first thought was to stay safe. My attempt was futile. The hefty guy grabbed me by the neck and pulled me off my feet. I dangled above the ground, gasping for air and clawing at his hands, but he didn't even flinch.

"Leo, you… sick son of a bitch. Let me… go."

He rolled his eyes. "Don't be pathetic. Did you really think I would let you go after this? So you to go make trouble for me?" He drew close and gently stroked my hair, then he whispered. "It was fun while it lasted but sadly, all good things must come to an end."

My gut twisted, the bitter feeling of death came over me. I called out to him desperately. "Leo, please don't. Please I beg you. Please!!"

He turned his back on me and left the room. I watched the door close. It felt like my life had been shut out before my very eyes. I let out my last breath and shut my eyes. I had lost the strength to fight back, so I accepted my faith.

Someone cocked a gun.

My eyes burst open immediately. I looked beside me. Savor was standing with a revolver in his hand, aiming right at the goon that held me by the neck. He was breathing heavily, blood dripping from the huge cut on his face.

"Don't give up Genie. It's not over yet."

I pursed my trembling lips, tears slipping down my cheek. He smiled so warmly, at me, before he turned to the goon, and he signaled him to let me go. The guy, with bloodshot eyes put me down, stepping away. I tried to stay on my feet, but my legs wobbled, and I fell. Luckily, the table caught me.

"Are you good?" he asked, his gaze still fixed on the big guy.

"Yes," I muttered breathlessly.

"Good. Go to my drawer. You will see some cash and an address. Go there, tell them that I sent you. If they ask what you need, tell them you need to disappear."

"Savor…"

"You can thank me later," he said, cutting me off. He could tell from the look in my wet eyes that I was too full of gratitude to express it. "Just get out of here, now." There was urgency in his voice.

I hobbled to the back of his table and took out the things he had left there. I head for the door after that. The big guy eyed me. He didn't speak, but every inch of his face was colored with rage. I avoided his glare and slipped through the room until I made it to the exit.

I stopped and turned around to look at Savor for the last time.

'I will be back, I promise.' I mouthed in a voiceless whisper.

He said goodbye with his smile and then watched me spin around and run out of the room, vanishing in the passageway
