Chapter 27 - Zombie Hunter

Erik glanced at Selina, the contempt in his eyes impossible to hide, and the anger in his heart only grew stronger.

Thinking back to when he met Negut, Erik punched a tree trunk.

BAM!

"Damn it! Why is that bastard so lucky? First he gets saved by Crimson Rosa Lilith, and now he's with Professor Naomi, damn it!"

Erik muttered as he cursed.

Even though he had bought a ton of online news articles saying Negut colluded with Aberrants to create an illusion, that power back then, plus that beauty… Erik knew full well it was a real Blood Dragon.

Now, not only could Negut stand up and walk, he even had Professor Naomi by his side, the leading figure in the field of human body mechanization.

What the hell was going on? Why did everything good revolve around that crippled bastard?

Erik clenched his teeth, glanced at the dead rabbits on the ground, and smiled viciously. "Huh! Whether you're a dragon or a worm, going through the 'Newbie Trial' is enough to make it clear. Negut, I'll let everyone see just how useless you are."

He swept his gaze over everyone, then shouted, "Get ready, we're continuing the hunt."

Erik looked toward Selina and snorted disdainfully, no longer feeling she was a precious prize. After all, he had seen Blood Dragon Lilith and Professor Naomi beside Negut, so when he looked at Selina now, he only felt even more annoyed.

Selina could hear the irritation in his words, but she could only stay silent.

Her family needed the help of Erik's family, and besides, she had already abandoned Negut. Erik was the only choice she had left.

Selina took a deep breath, forcing herself to endure the pain, and followed behind Erik.

….

Negut had now finished summoning Slimes, and he was extremely satisfied with what he had.

"Looks like… this class isn't weak at all. It's just that they've never seen how strong those special Slimes can be." Negut muttered.

He had spent more than 50,000 Energy Points on summoning Slimes. He wanted to continue, but he didn't want to waste too much time. He still needed to complete the mission.

Negut stepped outside and began searching for monsters to kill.

With 65 points of [Physique], he easily climbed up the rubble, then clung to a tree trunk and climbed all the way to the treetop.

With the extra 40 points of [Physique] added, his broken leg could now function like a normal person's. However, he couldn't move too much and still needed to rely on his other leg.

"Wow!" Negut was a little startled when he saw so many things from this position.

This place truly was a vast city that had been overrun by vegetation. However, in the distance, it was blocked by fog. He could only see bizarre, enormous black silhouettes moving within that layer of fog.

"This place is really huge…" Negut thought to himself, feeling that this city was as massive as Tokyo.

Krit! Krit!

"That is…" Hearing cries in the distance, Negut looked and saw a flock of strange birds flying.

"What kind of weird birds are those?" Negut curled his lip, feeling somewhat disgusted. "I didn't even see that kind of bird during my studies at the academy."

That's right. As long as Negut still had his memories, he had studied at the academy. The professors taught trainees about the kinds of monsters they would face in the 'Newbie Trial' area, but he had never learned that there would be bizarre monsters like those birds.

Their bodies were quite large, about 1 meter long with a 3-meter wingspan. Their bodies looked like they were assembled from interlocked metal fragments. Their heads were a gigantic mouth that enveloped the entire head, and above the mouth were tentacles wriggling like worms.

KRIT! KRIT!

The sounds coming from their mouths were incredibly ear-piercing, like wind whistling through cracks in stone, forming a shriek, and also somewhat like someone screaming.

The flock immediately noticed Negut and began diving toward him.

Negut wasn't afraid at all. On the contrary, he smiled with contempt and excitement.

He waved his hand and muttered, "To deal with you, I only need these two things. Come out, Explosive Slime, Thunder Slime, Wind Slime."

Right then, from Negut's 'infinite storage space', 4 Explosive Slimes, 1 Thunder Slime, and 1 Wind Slime appeared and floated in front of him.

[Name: Explosive Slime]

[Level: 0]

[Rank: D]

[Description: Sacrifices itself to create a small explosion, dealing damage equal to 2 x [Spirit].]

[Level-up requirement: 50 Energy Points.]

[Name: Thunder Slime]

[Level: 0]

[Rank: C]

[Description: Sacrifices itself to create a bolt of lightning, dealing damage equal to 3 x [Spirit], while also paralyzing enemies around for 1 second. The higher the Spirit points, the longer the paralysis duration of nearby enemies (Effects can stack).]

[Level-up requirement: 100 Energy Points.]

….

[Name: Wind Slime]

[Level: 0]

[Rank: C]

[Description: Sacrifices itself to create a gale, dealing damage equal to 0.5 x [Spirit], while also knocking back or disrupting enemies for 1 second. The higher the Spirit points, the stronger the effect.]

[Level-up requirement: 100 Energy Points.]

"1, 2, 3… 16…" Negut counted the strange birds, an excited smile appearing on his face. "Then… Sacrifice Wind Slime."

Right then, the Wind Slime burst like a soap bubble, turning into a stream of wind that gathered into Negut's palm.

He felt that he could control this gale, but the time he could control and maintain it wasn't long. However, that was enough.

Negut clenched his fist, then swung his arm.

WHOOSH!

The gale shot out, carrying 4 Explosive Slimes and the Thunder Slime as it flew toward the flock.

KRIT! KRIT!

WHOOSH!

Before the birds could react, the gale had already surged toward them, forming a wind sphere that dragged the scattered flying birds and gathered them into the center of that wind sphere.

Negut reached out, then clenched his hand. "Sacrifice Explosive Slime!"

BOOM!!!

The Explosive Slimes instantly detonated, and the Thunder Slime detonated along with them. In the next moment, a terrifying explosion erupted, accompanied by arcs of electricity spreading across the entire area around the birds.

Tik! Tik! Tik!

The crackling of the electric arcs rang out sharply.

The strange birds had been gathered into a small area by the gale, and the Explosive Slimes and Thunder had completed the task of killing monsters within that confined range.

[Ding! Congratulations on successfully killing Carrion Bird x16, you have obtained 8 attribute points.]

Watching the birds get burned into black charcoal and fall down, Negut felt extremely delighted.

"So this is the power of Slimes? Hahahaha…" Negut laughed happily.

He felt this Slime Summoner class was more fun than any other class.

But the biggest credit belonged to the two Blessings from the Gods. Thanks to them, his Class was as if its shackles had been removed, letting him use it in any way he liked.

Negut looked at the notification panel and thought to himself, 'Adding the 2 attribute points from earlier, I now have 10 free attribute points. Then…'

"System, add 5 points to [Physique] and 5 points to [Spirit]."

[Ding! Points added successfully. Your current stats are: • Physique: 30 (+40) • Spirit: 55 (+80)]

Feeling the surge of strength in his body, Negut smiled in satisfaction. He didn't want to dump everything into [Spirit] because he knew his class didn't rely too heavily on [Spirit].

On the contrary, with the Slimes he had summoned, he knew [Physique] also had a huge impact on how he used those Slimes.

Right then, Negut's intuition suddenly sensed something, making him immediately look into the distance, toward a bush.

"That is… a Hunter?" Negut muttered, because he could sense terrifying killing intent.

After all, his [Spirit] was now 135 points, and his intuition had become many times sharper than an ordinary person's.

He could also see that inside that bush was a massive figure, its body covered in thick, dense muscle that was hard like metal.

Although he couldn't see its entire body clearly, Negut could still recognize it as a Zombie Hunter.

A hint of worry began to rise in his heart.

"No way! Why would a Zombie Hunter appear in an area meant for Newbies?"
