Chapter 1 - Chapter 1. The Transparent Girl

Lin Ji's seat was always in the second-to-last row by the window.

The teacher's voice, like a steady line, came from the blackboard and was gently carried away by the breeze outside.

She sat quietly, writing, listening, looking up, nodding—her movements were light and subtle, almost imperceptible.

Her classmates said she was "the invisible one."

She was quiet, unassuming, and unassuming.

She didn't mind.

Sometimes, quiet is a form of camouflage.

During morning breaks, the classroom was like a boiling pot: some chased each other, some gossiped, some grabbed drinks, and some slept on their desks.

Lin Ji, notebook in hand, slipped through the crowd like a tiny shadow.

"Lin Ji, your handwriting is really neat!" The girl in front of her glanced back, but immediately continued talking about something else without waiting for a response.

She nodded slightly, but no one noticed.

Before the bell rang, she opened her notebook.

The cover was a plain light gray, without stickers or fancy patterns, but inside it was filled with her thoughts.

Today's page read:

"I hope one day, I can be heard completely."

She had just finished writing this sentence when the teacher walked in from the podium, and the noise in the classroom seemed to be paused by a hand.

Everyone returned to their seats.

The teacher began calling roll.

"Lin Ji."

She answered softly, "Here."

Her voice was so soft that she could barely hear it herself, but the teacher heard it.

Only the teacher.

Roll call continued, and the classroom returned to silence.

Until someone suddenly peeked out from outside the classroom and knocked on the door.

"Shen Yi, you're being called to the administration office."

The whole class looked up simultaneously.

Almost everyone in the school knew that name—first in grades, first in the sports meet, aloof, never-smiling "unapproachable god." As Shen Yi packed his books, his movements were calm, as if he were already used to being called away.

When he passed by Lin Ji, she instinctively tightened her shoulders.

Not out of fear.

Just a little unaccustomed to having such a dazzling person pass by.

The instant Shen Yi stepped out of the classroom, a gust of wind rushed in from the corridor, fluttering the corner of Lin Ji's notebook.

A page turned gently—a new blank, soft, and clean page.

Lin Ji reached out and pressed the paper down, suddenly feeling that the wind that had blown for a moment was a little strange.

Like it brought some kind of omens.

But she didn't know that this unintentional gust of wind would push her towards a completely different future.

A future that would make her no longer transparent.
