Vale hated storms especially tonight's. The thunder rattled the windows of Edric's penthouse, and he jumped at every crack. Edric noticed instantly.
"Come here," Edric murmured from behind him, strong hands circling Vale's waist like he owned his breath.
"I'm fine," Vale lied.
"No, you're shaking." Edric's lips brushed the back of his neck. "You only tremble like this when you're scared… or when you think of leaving."
Vale stiffened. Edric always sensed too much, too deeply. His obsession clung to Vale like gravity impossible to escape.
"I'm not leaving," Vale whispered.
"Good." Edric tightened his grip. "Because I'd follow."
Before Vale could answer, the penthouse lights flickered. Then-
The security system beeped.
A door unlocked.
Edric's entire body went rigid. Slowly, he turned Vale around, shielding him with his own frame.
"No one should be able to get in," Edric growled.
The air in the room changed colder, stretched thin.
Footsteps.
Unhurried. Familiar.
A figure stepped out of the shadows near the hall.
Vale's breath died in his throat.
"…Evan?"
Edric's fury snapped like a whip. "That's impossible."
But it wasn't. Evan stood right there alive. Pale. Wild-eyed. Rain dripping from his hair.
"Miss me, Vale?" Evan asked softly, voice cracked from disuse. "You didn't even come to look for me."
Vale stepped back, heart hammering. He had mourned Evan, cried himself sick for weeks—but eventually life forced him forward. Forced him into Edric's relentless orbit.
"How are you alive?" Vale whispered. "They said-...your car-"
"They said a lot of things." Evan smirked. "People lie."
Edric moved smoothly, like a panther about to strike. "You break into my home. You stalk what's mine. And you dare speak?"
Evan's eyes slid to Edric, assessing him with chilly amusement.
"Ah. You must be the lover Vale replaced me with. The obsessive billionaire with abandonment issues, right?"
Edric's jaw flexed. "I will kill you for stepping closer."
"And that," Evan murmured, taking a step anyway, "is exactly why Vale shouldn't be with you."
He reached a hand toward Vale
Edric yanked Vale behind him with a growl so deep it shook Vale's spine.
"He doesn't want you," Edric snarled. "You're a ghost who should've stayed dead."
"Funny," Evan whispered, "Vale didn't sound like he wanted you either the night he cried about me."
Vale gasped. "Evan -! stop-"
But Evan kept going, voice soft and poisonous.
"He begged the universe to give me back. He said you suffocated him."
Edric froze.
The words sank like hooks into him jealousy twisting, tightening, igniting something unhinged.
"Vale," Edric said quietly. "Is that true?"
Evan smiled like a blade.
Vale could feel Edric's fury rising under his skin. He grabbed Edric's wrist.
"I said that months ago," Vale whispered. "Before I knew the truth. Before I… before you."
Edric's expression darkened with something possessive and wounded.
Evan scoffed. "He's lying to keep you calm."
Edric lunged.
He slammed Evan against the wall by the throat lightning flashing behind the glass as thunder exploded.
"Touch him again," Edric hissed, "and you'll wish the accident killed you."
Evan choked, but smiled even then, eyes fixed on Vale.
"You really think he's safe with this?"
Vale stepped forward, voice cracking.
"Enough! Both of you!"
Edric released Evan, only to grab Vale's chin with a grip trembling from suppressed rage.
"You belong to me," he said softly. Too softly. "No one touches what's mine."
Evan wiped blood from his lip, eyes burning.
"Then prove it, Vale. Choose."
Vale's breath hitched.
Evan extended a bruised hand.
Edric's fingers curled around Vale's waist, dragging him closer, marking territory with touch alone.
Lightning illuminated the room-
Vale stepped backward.
Toward Edric.
Evan's face fractured.
Edric's smirk was pure, victorious sin. He slid an arm around Vale, pulling him flush against him in a way that left no doubt to whom Vale had chosen.
"You should leave," Vale whispered to Evan. "This will only get worse."
"You're wrong," Evan murmured, voice breaking. "It's just beginning."
He slipped out the door with a final look that promised chaos, obsession, something dark returning.
Silence.
Then Edric exhaled shakily and buried his face in Vale's neck.
"You nearly killed me," he growled. "Never scare me like that again."
Vale's pulse raced when Edric's hands still shaking gripped his hips.
"Edric…"
"You chose me," Edric whispered. "Say it again."
"I chose you."
That was all it took.
Edric pushed Vale against the wall, breath rough, jealousy still burning hot enough to scorch.
Vale's back hit the wall with a thud, the rough stone biting into his shoulders as Edric's body pinned him there.
Heat radiated from Edric's chest, his breath coming in hot bursts against Vale's neck, laced with the sharp tang of sweat and anger.
Jealousy's fire still flickered in Edric's dark eyes, those stormy depths locking onto Vale's like
a predator claiming prey.
Vale's heart hammered, a mix of fear and thrill twisting in his gut, his c**k already stirring under the intensity of that gaze.
"Good," Edric murmured, his voice a low growl that vibrated through Vale's bones. His lips brushed Vale's ear, sending shivers racing down his spine.
Edric hooked a finger under Vale's chin, yanking his face up to meet those raging eyes ...rage, desire, obsession all twisted together like a storm about to break. "You let him touch you once,"
Edric said, his thumb dragging roughly over Vale's lower lip, parting it slightly.
"Now I'm taking back every inch he ever claimed."
Vale's breath caught as Edric's hand slid down, rough palm shoving under his waistband to grip his....
