Day immediately knows that this isn't like his normal dreams.

He cannot remember how he got here, where he is, but with bare feet crunching softly on the leaves on the dried floor, he begins to step forward.
Just as he is about to take another, a flash of movement catches his peripheral vision, and he turns, heart lurching, to see two figures, hand held fast, running towards him.
He stumbles back, a shocked yell escaping his lips, but the two figures only draw closer and give no indication they even see him.
