"Don't worry, Irina. We're almost there—results any moment now."
Flynn's voice carried a lie I could practically taste through the phone, though I suspected his hands were probably sweating bullets.
If he knew I'd already figured out his empty promises, he'd probably have a heart attack.
Those Cross people were masters of deception, always targeting innocent, trusting people. Without my intervention, Flynn would still be clueless about their schemes.
I massaged my temples, keeping my voice ice-cold. "You better deliver," I said before hanging up on him.
I could almost hear Flynn exhaling in relief on the other end, probably thinking he'd dodged a bullet.

Wilson's jaw tightened as he grabbed the phone. He always preferred silence, so he muted the device before hitting play.
