Chapter 374 - Chapter 374: The Fall

Without giving the group any time to process his words, Yuu Hoshimiya continued his explanation with crisp efficiency.

"I have no interest in staying in this godforsaken place for dinner or playing some detective game with you."

"The recording mentioned that Renya Karasuma, at the age of ninety-nine, learned that his grandmother had hidden a treasure for him here and gathered many experts to help find it."

"But ask yourselves—would a man at the end of his life truly place that much value on worldly possessions? This was Renya Karasuma, a billionaire who spent his entire life surrounded by luxury. Isn't that a contradiction?"

"When a man of immense power and wealth is at death's door, what does he value most? He wants to maintain his dominance in the next world."

"Just like the First Emperor of the neighboring nation, who created the Terracotta Army to be buried with him, hoping to continue his conquests and rule in the afterlife."

"Naturally, Karasuma Renya wanted his wealth to follow him into the netherworld so he could continue being a man whose riches could influence both ghosts and gods."

"Furthermore, the recording said the handrails, stairs, doors, wall decorations, dining room, bedrooms, and even the entertainment facilities were all personally customized by him."

"Doesn't that sound exactly like someone building their own tomb?"

Yuu suddenly let out a laugh.

"Actually, when I first entered this mansion, I was puzzled—why were the bloodstains only inside the building, with not a single drop found outside?"

"The reason is simple. Before Karasuma Renya died, he killed in a fit of rage—just like killing the craftsmen who built a royal tomb. Naturally, he wouldn't let them escape; they all had to die inside the mansion."

"After Karasuma died, socialites and elites auctioned off his antiques and treasures. They were essentially grave robbers entering a tomb to steal."

"Karasuma naturally had countermeasures prepared for grave robbers. The massacre that broke out at the memorial service was a defensive trap he designed."

"The old man was exceptionally brilliant. He did the opposite of what one would expect, putting the 'Yin House' of his eternal rest right out in the open for everyone to see. I have to admit, he was quite a character."

After listening to Yuu's deduction, the group couldn't help but draw a sharp breath. Looking at the walls around them, they felt a deepening chill and a sense of dread!

The elderly Furuyo Senma felt her legs give way. She leaned one hand on the table, a look of bitter sorrow crossing her eyes.

"So... my father, Kyohei Senma, was silenced as if he were just a craftsman building this tomb. Heh, I should have known. Why would anyone hire a historian to solve a weird riddle?"

"Consultant Hoshimiya, thank you. Thank you for letting me know the cause of my father's death!"

Meanwhile, Shukuzen Ogami clutched his chest, his eyes still fixed on Yuu.

"Even if it's a funerary object, I don't care! Where is it, Consultant Hoshimiya? Where is the treasure? Please, tell me!"

Yuu's lips curled into a smirk, his words heavy with implication. "Taking items from a tomb always carries a price. Karasuma Renya was no pushover. If he could design a trap to make people slaughter each other after his death, he might still have ways to kill people forty years later."

"Detective Ogami, just be a good boy and let us take you down the mountain. Go to prison and try to be a decent person for once."

"Let's go. Everyone, come outside with me. It's never good to disturb the peace in a house of the dead."

After saying this, Yuu directly took Ran's hand and turned to walk out.

The others glanced at Shukuzen Ogami, who was lying on the floor like a dead pig, and followed Yuu out of the Twilight Mansion.

In the end, no one stayed inside for dinner.

As they stepped out of the main entrance, the rain had stopped.

They walked down the stairs to the parking area and saw four cars engulfed in raging flames. Only Yuu's Lexus remained unscathed.

Furuyo Senma couldn't help but marvel inwardly. What a terrifying man. He even accounted for this.

Ikumi Koshida let out a cry of dismay. "My brand-new Ferrari! It's ruined! Detective Senma, aren't you going to compensate me?"

Senma felt sweat beading on her forehead.

"I'll pay. I'll pay for it. I am truly sorry!"

Hearing this, Ikumi finally smiled with satisfaction, but her beautiful eyes couldn't help but drift toward Yuu.

How is this guy so capable? I was with him almost from the start and didn't see him do anything unusual. How is it his car didn't explode?

It's as if he's been in control of the entire situation all along.

Ikumi's eyes were full of curiosity.

Her personality was always like this—she wanted to get to the bottom of everything. But pursuing Yuu Hoshimiya for answers would yield nothing.

At that moment, near the entrance, a blood-vomiting Shukuzen Ogami managed to stand upright. His eyes were filled with desperation and plea.

"Consultant Hoshimiya, I beg of you! Tell me where the treasure is!"

"I am sorry for what I did to your girlfriend, but I was desperate! To buy this mansion, I staked my entire life and fortune! Please, just tell me!"

Harufumi Mogi also spoke up from the side. "Consultant Hoshimiya, could it be that you actually can't find the treasure either, and that's why you won't say?"

"Or do you know where it is and want to come back alone next time to keep it all for yourself?"

Hearing this, Yuu shot a freezing glare at Harufumi Mogi. Mogi felt a sudden chill run through his entire body.

Ran immediately snapped, "Brother Yuu doesn't care about that junk! Brother Yuu, tell them!"

Since Yuu truly didn't care about the Twilight Mansion's treasure, and since Ran had said so, he decided to let these so-called detectives understand the meaning of 'dimensional crushing'!

"The riddle already explained everything. You all were just too blind to see it!"

Yuu explained: "In the entire mansion, the dining room is the only place with a clock. That clock is the mechanism to reveal the treasure."

"The line 'Two travelers look up at the night sky' means turning the hour and minute hands together to midnight."

"The subsequent hints refer to the playing cards Karasuma Renya customized."

"The King, Queen, and Soldier in the riddle refer to the K, Q, and J in a deck of cards."

"The King flees with his treasures—treasures are Diamonds. The Queen weeps into the Holy Grail—the Grail is Hearts. The soldier draws his sword and cuts his own throat—the sword is Spades. Therefore, it's the King of Diamonds, the Queen of Hearts, and the Jack of Spades."

"You simply need to turn the hands starting from midnight according to the direction the faces on those three cards are looking. That means thirteen degrees to the left, twelve degrees to the left again, and finally eleven degrees to the right."

"I imagine that will give you your answer!"

At those words, a light erupted in Shukuzen Ogami's eyes.

Despite being severely injured, he exploded with incredible speed, charging back into the dining room instantly.

He scrambled onto the fireplace and began frantically turning the clock hands.

His eyes were bloodshot as he muttered continuously.

"Treasure!"

"Treasure!"

"Treasure!"

The little brat Conan was consumed by curiosity and wanted to follow him in to witness the treasure.

But before he could take two steps, Yuu hoisted him back.

"If you don't want to die, don't go in there!"

Seeing this, Saguru Hakuba and Harufumi Mogi, who had also intended to move, stopped in their tracks.

Yuu said coldly, "Greed kills. Karasuma Renya's treasure isn't that easy to take!"

Ikumi Koshida opened her mouth, about to ask a question.

Suddenly, a massive shift occurred. Great boulders fell from the front and back entrances of the Twilight Mansion, sealing the doors shut.

Then, the earth shook violently!

The outer shell of the mansion's walls began to peel away layer by layer, revealing a brilliant, reddish-gold light.

The group was stunned. It was gold!

The entire mansion had been constructed out of solid gold.

What an unfathomable amount of wealth!

However, the mechanism had been tripped, and the balance was lost.

The entire Golden Mansion began to sink rapidly into the ground. Cracks tore across the surface, and the group scrambled backward.

Yuu drove his car further away to avoid being caught in the collapse.

In less than ten seconds, the entire Golden Mansion vanished beneath the earth. Shukuzen Ogami had zero chance of escaping; he was taken down into the mountain.

But it wasn't over yet. The cliff, now featuring a massive crater, shook again.

Sera couldn't even stand straight and hugged Ran for support, while Conan fell flat on his back. Everyone else crouched low.

Yuu had just stepped out of his car and hadn't found his footing when Ikumi Koshida, in her qipao, collided with him. She slammed her tits right into him and fell into his arms.

Yuu's large hand instinctively reached up, grasping pure softness.

A landslide!

The entire half of the cliff where the Twilight Mansion stood began to collapse.

The Golden Mansion, now inside the mountain, plummeted along with countless tons of earth and debris from the peak of the cliff straight into the valley.

From a distance of a thousand meters, the earth and trees churned together, burying everything under a massive mound.

It turned out the interior of the mountain had long ago been hollowed out by Karasuma Renya!

He truly was a ruthless man of half a century ago.

His final resting place could serve as a 'Yin House' for the living or a tomb for the dead—a masterpiece of design!

Staring at the cliff that had been sliced in half, the detectives all stood with their mouths agape in disbelief.

Furuyo Senma murmured, "Can Detective Ogami still be alive?"

The answer was obviously no.

Yuu knew these death-defyingly curious detectives would want the treasure, and he knew Shukuzen Ogami would rather die than give up.

So he had deliberately put on a show.

The moment Ogami solved the clock mechanism, the fireplace beneath his feet had collapsed.

He fell straight in and was skewered by the blades beneath, dying a thorough death.

Karasuma Renya was never going to forgive anyone who disturbed his peace.

The group stood in silent reflection for a long time before gradually coming to their senses.

Ikumi Koshida's face turned slightly red. Sensing the large hand on her buttocks, she hurriedly pushed Yuu away, though fortunately, the others hadn't noticed.

Saguru Hakuba couldn't help but ask, "Consultant Hoshimiya, how do we get down? Is the bridge destroyed? Are we going to be stranded on this cliff?"

Yuu chuckled. "Maybe because of the heavy rain earlier, the bombs had a bad connection and didn't detonate. Just like my car!"

Hearing this, everyone rolled their eyes.

His Lexus hadn't exploded because he had clearly taken some private countermeasures.

But since Yuu wouldn't say, no one pressed further.

Hearing Yuu's tone, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Being able to go back was the best outcome.

Masumi Sera spoke up, "I didn't expect tonight's gathering to have nothing to do with Kid at all. I really wanted to see what that phantom thief looked like."

"It's not entirely unrelated. At the very least, Kid is right here at this moment."

Through Chikage Kuroba, some people like Ran knew that Kaito Kuroba was Kid.

But Kaito Kuroba didn't know about Yuu's situation; he thought Yuu was the only one who knew his secret.

With Saguru Hakuba present, there was no way Kaito Kid wouldn't know someone was using his name to cause trouble.

Given his personality, he naturally wouldn't let it slide.

At these words, everyone's expressions changed drastically as they looked at one another with suspicion.

Ikumi Koshida asked, "Consultant Hoshimiya, where is Kid?"

Yuu couldn't help but tease, "Miss Koshida, you're a detective too. Why so many questions tonight? Why don't you look for yourself?"

Ikumi was silenced by his remark, but she felt very strange inside.

What is wrong with me? Why do I keep asking this guy?

However, Yuu didn't keep them in suspense. He explained: "Actually, this person has already made it quite obvious. Detective Senma asked you about being ambushed by the Mafia—an event from a week ago—and you said it was too long ago to remember."

"Then I asked if you were old acquaintances with Detective Senma, and you couldn't name a single case you'd worked on with her."

"Your beloved Alfa Romeo was blown up, yet you showed not a shred of grief."

"And as a heavy smoker, you haven't been seen smoking once tonight."

"Detective Mogi... or should I say, Kaito Kid!"

Harufumi Mogi stared at Yuu with calm eyes, and the two faced off from a distance.

The others thought a major battle was about to erupt.

Suddenly, several smoke bombs were tossed out, and the dark green suit instantly transformed into a white suit.

Kid leapt off the cliff to make his escape.

His hang glider snapped open instantly.

He had already positioned himself near the edge, ready to retreat at any moment.

"Hahaha! Consultant Hoshimiya, you won't catch me this time!" Kid's laughter echoed from the sky.

A smile lifted the corner of Yuu's mouth. His hands moved behind his back, forming seal after seal as he unleashed his Wind Manipulation magic.

A violent gust of wind instantly caught Kid's glider, blowing him backward.

Kid's face paled as he began to struggle frantically.

At that moment, he was like a kite in the sky—wanting to fly forward but being relentlessly pushed back by the gale, suspended in mid-air five meters from the cliff's edge.

Yuu walked to the edge of the cliff, tossing a stone up and catching it repeatedly.

Yuu grinned wickedly. "Kid, what was that? I can't catch you?"

Seeing Yuu so close and the stone in his hand, Kid decisively surrendered.

"Consultant Hoshimiya, I was wrong! You can catch me! Please, don't throw the stone!"

"I was just passing through to see who was using my name. No ill intent!"

"Besides, I didn't steal anything today. Give me a break!"

The scene was incredibly bizarre. Kaito Kid looked as if he were being held in place by an invisible net in the sky.

The Phantom Thief struggled, yet he couldn't move an inch.

The other detectives stared with bulging eyes; this wind was far too strange!

Looking at the surrendering Kid, Yuu chuckled.

This Kid brat was a bit more likable than Conan; at least he knew to learn from his mistakes.

After their previous encounters, Kaito Kuroba didn't dare act up in front of Yuu at all.

If it weren't for the fact that everyone present was a detective—each smarter than the last—he would have called out 'Teacher Hoshimiya' to try and get cozy.

Actually, the moment he saw Yuu, Kaito Kuroba had felt some regret.

Yuu Hoshimiya hadn't been on the guest list...

If he'd known Yuu was coming, he never would have joined the fun today.

Everything that followed had gone pretty much as he'd expected.

Even with an escape route prepared early on, he was still being played like a toy in Yuu's palm.

Looking at the pleading Kaito Kuroba, Yuu finally tossed the stone away.

For Chikage Kuroba's sake, he wouldn't mess with the brat today.

"Fine. Since you haven't done anything truly evil today, I'll let you go. Once you're down the mountain, remember to call a car up for the others."

"Reform yourself and be a proper person. Stop stealing. If I catch you again next time, there will be no mercy!"

"Of course! Of course!"

Kid had a thousand curses in his heart, but on the surface, he had to play the obedient grandson.

Yuu released the magic, and the gale stopped instantly.

Kid suddenly lost control and failed to maintain his balance, falling vertically with a piercing scream.

Halfway down, he finally steadied his glider and flew toward the distant forest with a lingering fear.

Watching the white hang glider recede into the night, Masumi Sera couldn't help but remark, "That Kaito Kid doesn't look like much after all!"

Yuu turned to the elderly Furuyo Senma.

"Detective Senma, tonight's affair was orchestrated by you and Shukuzen Ogami. I'll have to ask you to explain everything to the local police yourself."

Furuyo Senma nodded. "Of course. I've caused you all a lot of trouble. I am truly sorry."

"Detective Koshida, I will compensate you for your Ferrari."

As a veteran detective, Senma possessed significant wealth; compensation was not an issue.

Ikumi Koshida waved her hand. "We'll talk about that once you're back in Tokyo!"

"Alright. You all wait here for the car Kid sends up. Ran, Sera, let's go."

Yuu was the first to take the driver's seat of the Lexus. At that moment, Ikumi Koshida, in her purple qipao, climbed in and sat in the passenger seat.

"Consultant Hoshimiya, you have empty seats in your car. You don't mind giving me a lift, do you?"

Since she had shamelessly climbed in herself, Yuu naturally didn't refuse.

Ran watched this with a helpless smile, then followed Masumi Sera and Conan into the car.

He stepped on the gas, and the Lexus headed down the mountain road. Only Saguru Hakuba, Furuyo Senma, and the maid Aki Ishihara remained at the cliffside.

The car sped along and soon reached the wooden bridge. It was still perfectly intact.

The bombs Senma had installed had been secretly dismantled by Yuu's magic, so there were no issues.

In the passenger seat, Ikumi Koshida watched Yuu with eyes full of curiosity, even leaning forward to observe the Star of the Police Force.

"Consultant Hoshimiya, how exactly did you dismantle the bombs on the bridge and your car? I recall that once you arrived at the mansion, you never left my sight!"

Ran, Conan, and Sera were also full of curiosity.

Yuu smiled and brushed it off casually. "Maybe Detective Senma couldn't bring herself to cut off the retreat and installed duds. My car just got lucky and didn't blow up."

Anyone could hear the perfunctoriness in his tone.

Ikumi frowned. "Hmph, fine, don't tell us then!"

But the beautiful detective's eyes darted around as she asked again, "Consultant Hoshimiya, that was a Golden Castle! An entire castle made of gold! Weren't you moved by it at all?"

"Actually, you didn't have to say anything just now. You could have sent Detective Ogami to prison first, then dug up that city of gold yourself."

"With your brilliance, you surely could have obtained the treasure without tripping the mechanism. You would have been the richest man in Japan."

"Such immense wealth, and you treat it like air."

"Or we could turn the car around, go back and discuss it with the others, and pool our resources to dig up the gold together. We could split it afterward!"

Ikumi grew more excited as she spoke, her eyes lighting up as if the plan were entirely feasible.

Although the cliff had collapsed and the Golden Mansion was buried under mountain debris, it was only a few hundred meters of slope. The difficulty of excavation would be minimal; any engineering team could do it.

Hearing this, Yuu chuckled. "Detective Koshida, I'm starting to doubt if you're really a detective. You're incredibly naive."
