Chapter 24 - A bounty?

United in Hatred Arc: Chapter 23.

"Urghhhh..." The female assassin groaned, vision still groggy and hazy. There was a sizeable red swelling bump in her right temple. It then didn't take long for her to realize that she was being tightly restrained with vines.

The female assassin squirmed, trying to free herself.

"Stop squirming!" Winter remarked and slapped the female assassin's bottom. *Slap!*

"Ack!?" The female assassin whimpered, eyes full of raging fury. "You piece of shit! I'll fucking kill you, fucking kill!" She threatened, but Winter slapped her bottom again.

"You piece of shit!" The female assassin barked, this time, louder. Winter rolled his eyes and then dropped her straight to the ground. The female assassin loudly plopped to the ground.

"Untie me, you piece of shit, and deal with me like a man!"

"Deal with you like a man? How do I deal with you like a man, even?" Winter said and picked her up again. The female assassin still squirmed, prompting Winter to drop her straight to the ground again.

"For every time you become non-compliant, I will drop you to the goddamned ground." Winter threatened. "I will not hesitate to drop you as hard as I can." He said, but the female assassin was still adamant about trying to free herself.

Winter picked her up again and sighed, heading straight to Newbie Town. The female assassin squirmed, insulted, and even tried to bite Winter, but he would always drop her if she ever became too much to handle.

This went on for quite some time until the female assassin eventually gave up since Winter would always drop her, face-first. She decided to save her strength instead.

By the time they'd entered Newbie Town, Winter was exhausted and thirsty, whereas the female assassin's face was bruised and muddied. The guards hesitated to provide Winter an entrance to the city, almost arresting him on the spot under suspicion of kidnapping.

One of the city guards then recognized the female assassin as a wanted criminal, and after explaining the situation and showing the adventurer's plate. The guards then reluctantly let him enter under the condition that he must be accompanied by a city guard and must head straight to the Adventurer's League.

The civilians and other merchants curiously gazed at Winter and the tied-up, shouting female assassin. "This man is a rapist!" She shouted, causing some people to turn their heads.

"Shut the hell up!" Winter said and slammed his fist on the female assassin's bottom. "Umph!"

The female assassin then pleaded to the accompanying city guard that she was an innocent maiden and then accused Winter of raping her. She then explained that Winter would always ravage her. That she was nothing but a disobedient toy for him.

The accusations caused Winter to pop a vein.

"Ma'am, please. I don't want to hear any sob story about your womanhood being violated." The accompanying city guard said, holding the bounty poster of the female assassin.

"Kaye Igatan. You're guilty of eighteen cases of murder, two cases of arson, smuggling contraband, escaping prison three times, and arcane terrorism."

Winter chuckled, swaying his head. "For a supposedly stealthy assassin coming from a secret assassination group. You're rather well known." He said, slapping her on the bottom again.

"See!? A rapist!" Kaye Igatan, the female assassin, added. "Please, guard, you have to understand. I'm not that woman from that poster. I am an innocent maiden! This man has forcefully impregnated me; you must believe me."

The accompanying guard remained silent. The sigil on her armor was all the proof that the guard needed. The guard bonked her head with a spear's shaft. *Bonk!*

"We're here..." The guard said, opening the doors of the Adventurer's League base. Kaye suddenly went quiet, her heart beating fast. The fear on her face has finally surfaced. She ran out of excuses, and no one was willing to hear her words.

The adventurers inside the base hall couldn't help but glare at Winter. Biggy Dakpanay and his team were inside the base hall, their faces were full of surprise and shock.

The group most surprised was the Night Generals. Feledil DeBestEye's gaze focused on Winter, staring with cold, hostile intent. Alluna Allat and Fae Baller were surprised, and Antoinette was stunned in disbelief and fear.

Winter placed Kaye Igat on the counter, and she plopped on the counter. "I'd like to turn in a wanted criminal." He said as the accompanying guard handed over the bounty poster.

The uniformed counter lady was shocked upon seeing a squirming and gaggling woman on the counter, plopping like a fish out of water.

"I'll get the papers and contact the office. The verification process will take some time, but no longer than two hours. Please take a seat, adventurer." The counter lady said as three other crisply uniformed women approached and lifted the restrained female assassin.

Winter then darted his eyes towards the First Copper Legion, Biggy Dakpanay's group. Virgin Besong and Geese were the only people who had a look of relief upon seeing him safe. The rest were quiet, instead staring with complete disbelief.

Winter approached and extended his hand, showing his right palm. "I don't care for your decision to prioritize your group. No hard feelings but, I do need my share." He said with a soft, thin smile.

"You managed to defeat that assassin? From the thirteen daggers?" Lamion said, surprised.

Biggy dropped his head and sighed, taking out a pouch full of clattering Pisas. He was quiet as he gave Winter his fair share of the rewards.

"We got promoted after this job," Biggy said. "We are now the First Silver Legion, and we have you to thank for that." There was a hint of guilt in his words, but he couldn't quite express his true feelings.

"I feel like a fraud after what I did." He continued. "There's some way to pay you back, though. I may have an idea of who sent that assassin."

"What!? Who!?" Winter almost shouted, eyes turning deathly serious.
