"Din don" the door bell rang.
"Go check who's there honey" said Saraphina's mom. Saraphina went and opened the door. Reuben and his parents stood outside smiling at her.
"Oh hi honey, is your Mom around" said Reuben's mom.
"Yes ma" she replied.
"Oh great, tell her that we are here"
"Mom, the Petersons are here" shouted Saraphina. "Oh please come in"
"Oh thank you my little angel, said mark Peterson, Reuben Dad. "Isn't your dad around, we told him we were coming "
"He's upstairs, I'll let him know that you are here " said Saraphina. She walks away.
In the kitchen her Mom frying some potatoes, when she walks in.
"I knew something was going on, you don't just wake up and start preparing food enough to feed a eight people" said Saraphina. The mom smiles.
"Come help me out would you?" Saraphina walks up to her.
"Why didn't you tell me the Petersons were coming " she takes the spoon from her hand
"Well I saw no reason to"
"But you and Dad knew, and you didn't see it fit to tell "
"Knowing you, you already guessed they were coming from the very start " Saraphina smiles.
"You overestimate me a lot "
"Well that's because you keep giving us reasons to overestimate you "
"Ain't you done with that yet " asked her mom.
"I'm almost done "
"I'll go take shower, please be fast with that " said her mom, she walks to the door and stopped "where is your dad "
"Probably downstairs with the Petersons, I told him that they were waiting for him down stairs "
"Oh I see, that's good to know, I thought they were downstairs all alone. when you are done please clean up that place, and change into something more appropriate "
"Yes mom"
Downstairs Reuben sat with the grown-ups watching them as they laughed, most of what they were saying sounded boring to him, he sat there silent watching them go on and on.
"Sorry for the delay, hope I didn't keep you waiting for long " said Saraphina's mom.
"Where's phina?" Asked Reuben, everyone turned to him. "I mean she should be here too right?" Mrs Georgina Saraphina's mom smiles.
"I asked her to change into something more appropriate, she should be out soon "
"Sorry am late " said Saraphina as she walks in
"Oh speak of the Angel " said Mrs Graciela Peterson
"I thought it's speak of the devil " asked Mr Mark Peterson.
"Saraphina isn't a devil, she's my little angel" said Graciela.
"Indeed, although she'd make a pretty good devil" said stiles Smith.
"And a beautiful one too " added Reuben, everyone started laughing "what's funny " Reuben asked confused.
"Nothing dear " said Georgina "would you mind helping Saraphina ready the table?"
"Sure, I don't mind" he stood up.
"Well then dear?" Asked Georgina. Saraphina sighs.
"Sure let's go " she said. They both walk away.
"They sure do make a good couple don't they?" Asked Georgina.
"Not as much as we do'' said Stiles.
"Do you want us to matchmake our kids" asked Graciela Peterson.
"Oh that's a fabulous idea" replied Mark.
"But your son is already spoken for isn't he?" Asked Georgina Smith.
"None that I know about, why? Did Saraphina say he has a girlfriend"
"Not directly no"
"Then we'll just have to find out by asking him in person " said Graciela.
"Okay that's enough about this matter, no one is asking anyone anything, you don't want to make the kids start feeling awkward" said Stiles Smith. Everyone turns to him.
"Party pupper" said Mrs Graciela
"Joy K:!ler" said Mrs Georgina
"Yeah, yeah I've been called worse" said Stiles.
"So why didn't you tell me you were coming over " Saraphina asked Reuben when they got into the kitchen.
"Wait, you didn't know?" Asked Reuben surprised.
"Of course I don't, if I do I wouldn't be asking you why you didn't bother to tell"
"Well same here, I never knew we were coming over until the last minute, my mom just knocked on my bedroom and said i should get dressed that we are going out, I didn't even know where we were going" said Reuben.
"Oh that says a lot" said Saraphina. He hands Reuben a tray. "Seems am not the only one being kept in the dark"
"Knowing you I'd say you already knew we were coming" said Reuben.
"Not you too, you really overestimate me, am not some kind of psychic you know?"
"Well you could easily be taken for one"
"Speaking of psychic, how is Lillian doing?"
"Lillian? She's fine, I guess"
"You guess?"
"Yeah why? You make it sound as if there's something wrong with her"
"Not exactly but you would know if anything is wrong won't you"
"Come on Saraphina, we all attend the same school, you see her as much as I do"
"True but as her boyfriend you should at least be keeping in touch with her not only when you are at school, you should at least try to call her"
"Well I do call her every now and then"
"Every now and then huh, so much for being a boyfriend, I pity Lillian" Reuben tilt his head by the side to look at Saraphina. He studies her for a moment.
"Why does it seem to me like you are jealous?"
"Jealous, of what? Your pathetic excuse for a relationship"
"Yeah, definitely jealous"
"No am not"
"Yes you are"

"No am not" said Saraphina, she sighs "okay maybe I am a little jealous" Reuben looks at her surprised, he was actually just trying to tease her, he never expected her to be truly jealous of him.
"You are?"
"Maybe, just a little bit though" she looks at Reuben and their eyes locked for a moment "it's just, I fancy how you around holding hands and stuff, it's so romantic.... What am trying to say is that I wish I had something like that too" they both stood there transfixed looking at each other, each looking for something to say. Saraphina sighs.
"We better get going before they begin wondering what's keeping us" said Saraphina walking away. Reuben holds her hand.
"Wait " she turns to face him. He combs his hand through her hair, moving it to the back of her ear. Saraphina watches him silent, she could clearly hear her heart beating faster and louder, he draws his face closer to hers. She was silent and flustered but tried to stay calm, she watches his lips as it drew closer to hers, time seems to have frozen around them, just as their lips were about to collide she closes her eyes.
"Then perhaps I should look for a boyfriend for you?" She heard him whisper to her ears, she opens her eyes clearly disappointed.
"What was that all about?"
"What did I do wrong? I was just trying to know if it's okay with you if I look for a guy for you"
"Then was brushing my hair with your fingers and the rest necessary?"
"Don't get mad over trivia things like that, I just pushed your hair behind your ears so that I could whisper what I just did to you"
"You really are annoying you know that" she walks away. She stopped at the door "I understand you were trying to look out for me and I'm grateful for that but thanks, I don't need you to look for a boyfriend for me" she walks away. Reuben stood there confused.
"What's the big deal" he asked himself.
