Yang Xia's eyes suddenly narrowed as she read another line. "Wait. What did that stupid film critic say? 'Someone like Elena Zhang'? What's that supposed to mean? That sounds insulting!"
Simon slammed an imaginary gavel in the air. "Hmph! Film critic, my ass. Acting like an expert when he clearly doesn't know what he's talking about!"
Elena reached over and took the newspaper from Jin Di, her eyes skimming the article at lightning speed. She read the interview with the critic once, then again more carefully, before handing the paper back.
"He's not wrong," she said calmly. "I am composing for an indie film. And yes, it's low-budget."
Yang Xia blinked. "Eh? Really?"
Elena nodded.
Jin Di took the newspaper back, leaned down, and pressed a light kiss to her forehead before continuing to read as if nothing in the world mattered more.
